Black car nightmare

Black car nightmare

I have a black 2018 Ford Mondeo (Fusion in the US). This color is literally driving me insane. I'm trying my best to keep this damn car in good condition, but new scratches keep appearing, like I'm washing it with a dish sponge. Honestly, I don't know what to do—I'm really frustrated. I've had other cars before, and I kept them in pristine condition until I sold them—one of which was a very dark gray, almost black. But with this one, I don't know... it looks like the paint deteriorates just by looking at it. I only took one picture because I got pissed off after seeing these kinds of scratches all over the hood and the trunk.

Any suggestions on what’s best to do (aside from giving up on trying to keep this car nice)?

Tell us more about your wash routine? What kind of protection do you have on the paint?

Gotta reread it. They said like if they were using a sponge, not that they are.

Hahaha no, I'm not washing it with a dish sponge bit I suppose that the results would be the same if I use that. Actually I use microfiber towels (1200 GS), washing and changing them constantly in order to avoid rubbing the dirt into the paintwork, and I clean the car starting from the hood or the roof and going down.

- this.. don't wash it with a dish sponge.

Use a soft car wash sponge/mitt, or microfiber and the proper contact wash like the 2 bucket method and a grit guard.

Yes, welcome to the love hate relationship that is black paint. Have the paint corrected and ceramic coated. That will make it easier to care for.

I never washed the car with a dish sponge, but the results looks like I did 🥲

I use the same method, with different 1200 GSM microfiber towels during every wash.

Idk about a mondeo but a lot of fusions and focuses I’ve dealt with seem to not have the best clear coat
