Lae'zel soloed my whole camp with all the companions
I wanted to pick the Shadowheart side of the argument because I'd never seen it and Lae'zel went hostile. She used MY scroll of hold person to immobilise me and then killed everybody else before critting me to death. It was really impressive and she made short work of everybody.
"Chk, these istiks proved to be fragile"
Reminds me of when her and I fought (for love I guess) and she just two tapped my ass.
I fought her, and she action surged 4 disarming attacks on me that left me holding nothing but a single hand crossbow. I was also doing a club of hill giant strength build, so I was heavily encumbered after that as well. I didn't get a second turn.
I suppose it's revenge for the first time I fought, where I crit smited and downed her in a single turn.
I didn’t even get a single turn! Lasted 10 seconds…Bazinga I guess
I barely survived that first turn, and only because I was a high con paladin wearing adamantine splint. It was definitely not a close fight.
I remember removing all her gear before the fight along with her items. even still, it took 7 tries with my bard before I finally beat her for love or something
she threw my spider grenade at me. she absolutely kicked my ass
There's a vid somewhere where she throws the runepowder in this fight..
she takes love combat very seriously
She actually dropped 4 smokepowder bombs at me. I was impressed and a little pissed off as I was saving those for some hard boss fight, but then I realized I wouldnt use those anyway, I never do. I always just sit on consumables, saving them for later.
When I played co-op with my buddy, I was working towards an Orpheus ending. He was the host, so he had to make the decision about freeing Orpheus and even though I asked him to ignore Squidward he denied our lovely froglady the chance at freeing her people so she 1v4'ed his two characters in the first turn before we could even move and obliterated The Emperor and my character in the second turn.
He couldn't believe how strong I built her, and after he loaded the last save game, he was like: "Nope, we're never betraying Lizzie again. She carries this team." XD
Lae'zel was the reason one of my honor modes failed. I had a brain fart moment and attacked the Inquisitor(?) inside the creche without going into the prism. She turned hostile and solo'ed us all in one turn. I was kinda half proud at how strong I made her.
I was going to romance her originally on my Honor Run that I'm currently on(I always die from some bullshit in act II or the house of hope ends my run), but I thought better of it, because I can't risk my naked sorcerer getting his naked camping ass dying and ending my run.
I romanced her as a sorceror on Honour Mode
"Source of my bruises--"
"Scorching Ray."
For me it was magic missile, action surge, magic missile, instant love.
I also never make it past act 2 because of bullshit that either happens to me or I do it myself lol
You can definitely attack the inquisitor before going into the prism but you can't let him talk to you before you do it otherwise yeah Lae'zel won't like that
I wish I knew that before I attacked him 🙃
If you figure out the truth of the zath'isk and convince her to get out, you can say, "Remember the zath'isk?" And she'll fight him for you and thank you for it (+3 approval, iirc).
I had an honor mode run bug out. I killed the inquisitor in a rough fight. I ended up pulling people out of the room. Then after I killed him I went into the room to go get the mace and it retriggered the dialog only this time for some reason Lae'zel turned against me went hostile and literally murdered my entire party in a single round.
I had a similar instance where I made her hostile in Act 2. I decided to fight it out and see what happened, she murked everyone except Minthara and Karlach who beat her.
Which, given experience and combat history, is pretty accurate.
I picked the Shadowheart side, and she just cut her throat and that was that. Lae'zel didn't do anything.
Lae'zel is the main character in this game. The rest are here to buff her.
I actually did that in my current playthrough. Just ignore almost everything and beeline for the creche. Honestly it was super fun in act 1 to do stuff I've never seen. Kinda sucked missing out on the tieflings and Halsin act 2, but worth the experience.
P.S. I got my ass whooped by the githyanki guarding the path to the creche. 1 member barely survived to revive everyone. Had to delay until lv4 and summon the ogres to progress.
I got way too deep into the RP doing this in my Lae'zel origin run... when Vlaakith turned against me after I beelined to the creche to follow her protocol, it hurt my actual IRL feelings.
Yeah stabbing the dream companion only to realize how right they were was devastating.
Glad to know that I was not the only one to think that she looked like a perfect gopnik on that screenshot
Only sad that I wasted so much time not knowing that this edit exists and not basking in her real'niy patsan glory
Suspicious right heel placement, possible istik'ski spie
Actually did my first honour mode run like this. Laezel origin, Shart there to cast aid and heroes feast, Astarion there to cast hold person and longstrider, and Karlach to tank/apply various debuffs as tiger barb/battlemaster
It funny because I did the same but with Karlach instead. Sorc tav to twin Haste on Karlach and Gale, Gale to apply greater invis and another situational crowd control, Shadowheart for aid/feast/upcast hold person or blindness.
What did you do with Astarion and Shart's builds? Tiger Barb slaps pretty hard if you go the AoE CC route where you constantly knock people over.
They actually do decent damage too, but not on the level laezel dishes out.
Circle of death Shart with the balduran helm+whispering promise+reviving hands combo with off-hand crossbow attacks for divine strike and 1 level dip wizard for dethrone.
8/4 Bladesinger + College of swords Astarion that mostly focus on being an AC god and stacking arcane acuity with battlemage gloves. Also has band of mystical scoundrel. (Sometimes throw fireballs for damage)
8/4 Tiger barb + Battle master Karlach went with the prone + no movement speed combo combined with shattered flail multiheal. Funnily enough i procc prone by using the drakethroat glaive on her flail to give her thunder damage, then gave her reverberation gear.(Mostly use battle manuveures for disarming) Boots of stormy clamour is surprisingly good with guaranteed bleed and maim. Offhand swire's sledboard and she is almost unkillable.
Laezel is a hexblade + dragon bloodline + oath of vengeance. Started using the robe of potency and spellmight gloves to boost booming blade, ended up spamming eldritch blasts to decimate everything. The paladin levels aren't exactly wasted tho, as her aura of protection grants +7, vow of eminity works on EB as well, and she occasionally fights melee. (She also has the bone spike boots to prone people and also double as an amazing movement ability)
Oh cool, very not what I was expecting and stuff I've never tried!
At level five I realized Gale’s true calling was to Haste Lae’Zel and then fucking hide and not drop concentration. There was nothing else he could do with a spell slot to output that kind of damage.
I've been using Lae'zel as an arcane archer when she's in the party, and she does fairly well. I know she's meant to be more strength based, but I've had times where she was far better with long-range weapons than Astarion.
She's an archer in my current playthrough and is hitting tremendously hard at level 7. And should the AI decide she needs to be meleed, well, sucks to be them 'cause she can still swing that sword.
I'm running a modded durge and she's an arcane archer. It's a good subclass, but I haven't been using her, and she has been kidnapped.
Get Gloom Stalker Ranger on there too when you're level 8 and it goes insane. 5 sharpshooter arrows turn 1 is like 120+ damage
So are corpses, I stg the man can't hit the broad side of an ogre.
Some are just better hitting enemies. Lae'zel can hit better and harder than Astarion and Karlach while having a higher AC.
Yet there are 1000 different ways of killing/losing her as a companion if you are playing a different character. One youtube video had a compilation of it even. Its tragic but hilarious lol
I always thought that was the case since she is featured in the opening scenes
Lae’zel is my secret weapon for all the major fights. Just point Bae’zel at whatever you don’t like and it dies.
That was my main strat as a sorcerer.
Step 1: Dual-cast haste on Lae'zel and Karlach
Step 2: Sit back with a nice cup of tea while high-speed violence unfolds
you forgot step 3: occasionally drop a fireball when anything gets REMOTELY close to you
out of breath enemy
"Holy fuck. I can't - where'd the hell. Did you even find. Those fuckin FREAKS of nature. Pant Doesn't matter now. Because I got you you cowardly sorc-"
"ARDEN"
😎👉🔥
"Don't call me a sorcerer you imbecile, I am a wizard of great renown!"
"Oh, right, you are a pile of ash, well, carry on ladies..."
THUM THUM THUM!
I feel like people always talk about all this overpowered shit you can do with casters, or they'll farm that Strength Potion for a crazy unarmed build. Meanwhile I'm over here with Lae'zel, Karlach, two very big swords, and a bunch of dead enemies. I'm pretty sure none of my builds are anything close to optimized, but those two slaughter everyone and everything on their own. My Tav helps a little and Shadowheart is just there to look cute.
TBH, those two (I like to make Karlach a Throwzerker) as your DPS, with Shadowheart as a Life cleric (for buffs/healing) make an insane team. At that point, the best use of Tav (IMO) is as a sorcerer who twin-casts Haste on the two of them, then uses Magic Missiles to clean up stragglers so the duo don't have to waste attacks on guys who are already almost dead.
It's also really funny to have Karlach go around picking enemies up and throwing them all into a pile (doing 15 to 30 damage to two enemies with every throw, for anywhere from 3 to 10 throws in a turn) with a water barrel thrown in at the end for good measure is a fantastic setup for an extremely satisfying glyph of warding, lightning bolt, ice storm, or cone of frost.
As bonus points, if you go all out on Illithid Powers on Tav you can have him insta-kill anyone with less than 20 to 25 health. Having Karlach and Lae'zel go around beating everyone up until they are either dead or under 25 hp, then having Tav use a single casting of magic missile to wipe out everyone left is just chef's kiss. Makes sooooo many encounters a single-turn fight. Also works with an archer/ranger/rogue using an arrow of many targets.
Lae'zel base class is considered one of the most OP builds, so you are literally using one of them. And everyone always says anything will work especially in normal difficulty.
The thing is, once you understand the basic idea of using your actions and preventing your opponents from using theirs, the game's actually quite easy, and hitting stuff with stuff becomes a quick, efficient way to clear it so you can do more story. Plus, the game's so liberal with magic items that every hit-stuff class gets a huge power boost.
Mono class fighter is incredibly powerful
Just kick back with Wyll and watch our wives massacre the world
LOL my 3 step process also included Lae'zel and Karlach! But not haste, thats just overkill lmfao
I AM FURY, I AM DEATH!
Step 1) Point Lae'zel one way,
Step 2) Throwing Karlach the other,
Step 3) Profit.
I had minthara in this fight with a psychic damage sword and that stone that makes everyone vulnerable to psychic damage and she basically carried the fight, had my tav and gale take out the necroites and shadowheart on heal/sactuary duties cant imagine how much if a beast laezel woulf be in this figjt gonna havr to try it next time
My friend carried around that stone ALL GAME even though we barely did psychic damage. Really screwed us over when the enemy started dealing psychic damage...
Its situationally useful tbh, i like to have it for the adv on lockpocking (rogue tav) but its been my downfall a few times when i get hit with psychic blasts
Honestly, that's probably why he had it as well, that lil' loot goblin.
wait what stone are you guys talking about i never saw it ever and im in my third playthrough
Resonance stone, a bug-shaped thing with a pink stone on it, you can find it on top of Balthazaar's desk in the Illithid colony. It's on the other side of a chasm in the room full of undeads. There is also a talking severed head in there which you can interact with
oohh.. that colony part was so confusing for me i just got overwhelmed and skipped everything lmao. was very sad when i learned you could actually save zevlor there. I felt really bad for not searching the area better
Totally ok man, they designed the 2nd act of the game to be horrifying and stressful to venture. Part of the charm of the game is that it lets you skip things as you go, so it actually encourages you to play the way that feels natural and do return playthroughs to catch things you missed!
Rp-wise, if it was me venturing down into the colony I would probably have pushed through ASAP as well, that shit had me stressed out fr. 😂
No its abslutely disgusting but i was playing a necromancer half the time so it should have been. better. (you can just summon undead from thin air because of necrotic aura 👍) but my problem was that i kept getting lost and couldnt find the fucking. door that leads to story progression. and ran in circles for HOURS. i somehow never checked the room Mizora was in twice though. I had the same problem with grymforge, i just couldnt navigate the place. Gauntlet of Shar was great though because it has purple rugs that lead to trial chambers so i just followed them
forgets about the stone at the final fight
Everyone in the party took 68 psychic damage!
My first play through with my brother, that stone went straight into camp storage and was forgotten about. Until each time we were at camp and had to figure out all over again what this new debuff was.
i thought steeped in bliss doesnt affect undead?
Throw gale’s corpse at him.
Sure throw the world ending bomb thats a good idee going to that right now just have to get my hands on a gale corpse nothing could go wrong with this plan
Isn't he immune to necrotic?
Even if he is you can have tavern brawler and bludgeon him to death with gale’s body. Legends say that gale might even detonate if you do.
I feel naked without her in the party.
I love romancing Lae’zel and giving her all my best gear. Don’t fuck with me or I’ll sick my githyanki girlfriend on you.
Her character arch when romanced is so wonderful. She goes from "ew, your nose is all fleshy and gross" to "You are my moon and my stars and I will *DESTROY* anyone who dares lay a hand on you."
It’s all fun and games until she fucks you up in the middle of the night during a duel. She took me out before I even had a turn.
Ghaik. 🐸
that's my frog wife
Lae’zel, my queen.
Hold on...
"Let me solo him" naked Lae'zel with a pot on her head and two greatswords in hands, beating the hardest bosses? Can we do that? Is this legal?
She will make it legal, Vin’iisk!
Do the Githyanki have a Senate? Lae'zel could find another job...
"Monkey Grip" and "Wield Oversized Weapon" are not feats in 5e. Acceptable replacement would be scimitars, or longswords. The single katana in the game is absolutely not worth it.
One moment
*swaps out her sword for a Doom Hammer.*
Apologies, I'm attempting what Karlach called a "speed-run", or as Shadowheart put in one of her messages a "otk", (1 syllable) whatever that is.
Battlemaster Fighter Lae'zel is basically just omni-man in the "Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" meme
Full Arcane Archer also goes super hard
Lae'zel and my Oath of the Crown paladin landing two mean fucking crits on Myrkul's fraudulent ass
^ diddy
Straight up what happened on my first run.
Teleporting Lae'zel into the enemies' backline to butcher their squishy mages and such almost never fails to short circuit their AI.
In a coop game one of my friends soloed Raphael and Yurgir as a barbarian. It was ridiculous to see him finish the fight with more HP than he started with
Well that be barbarians for you they be the tank and the dps
I had no idea what I was doing in my first playthrough, but I made Lae'zel an absolute unit. She carried my team to victory on several occasions and dominated every fight she was in. My party struggled a lot more when she wasn't with them. During the Haarlep fight, she got charmed and fucking killed Astarion (who was the second best companion in my team somehow), downed my warlock Tav, and nearly killed Halsin. I had to reload a save because the fight was taking years and everyone was on life support because of her.
In my first run she dropped Orrin in one turn.
I’d add Disarming Strike to this meme. Myrkul was so easy on my Honor Mode run because Lae’zel landed a disarming strike and he dropped his weapon.
Lae'zel soloed the mind flayer and freed Aylin by herself. My bard Tav Dissonant Whispered Myrkul to death.
Even if I don’t romance her, she has definitely grown on me over multiple playthroughs.
I've got a screenshot of her as the sole survivor of my first time attacking the whole goblin camp. Earned her the permanent spot on the roster in all future games
Bae'zel, the only right character to romance.
Just a dilussional real one
Make em' green and suddenly Battlemaster Fighters are cool again! For years ya'all cried "basic" and "boring!" Well who's basic and boring with a massive AC and a big enough Nova to end bosses in a single turn?
I'm currently doing a playthrough where I gave everybody the new subclasses to test them out. Lae'zel as an Arcane Archer is just as crazy as the other subclasses, she's soloing with a bow.
I guess the meme was right. Don't play a Ranger, just play a Fighter with a bow.
My Tav and Lae'zel were so rocking in combat it was honestly romantic. It was only natural for them to fall in love.
There were times when they were surrounded back to back just destroying their numbers with bonus attacks, eating damage until they were covered in blood, and then chucking their bodies into a pile to blow up with barrels of smoke powder.
Tav was an orc btw, all very on theme.
Im new to the game and im heading to end of act 1. Bro, laezel its just SO MUTCH STRONGER than anyone else in the party, thats INSANE 🤣 Seriously, i cant even consider taking her out cuz shes so busted
She gets absolutely insane if you give her the right build. By the end of my first run, she was crushing boss fights on her own. I’d give her haste or a speed potion, and then let her smite the BBEG with her great sword. Even enemies we weren’t supposed to kill, Lae’zel could in just 1 turn.
I actually managed to break the game by killing Ethel before she even went down to her lair, which then broke all of the dialogue for Myreena afterwards and wouldn’t let me finish the quest. I think they’ve patched it since then, though I also haven’t repeated that feat since then.
Speak with the dead is my cover for criting Ethel immediately. Doesn't save me an ASI feat, but Mayrina accepted things when I told her Ethel was going to eat her baby.
Frog wife gets work done
Max level fighter using GWM with risky ring and haste legit breaks the game. She solo'd the netherbrain in almost one round on my tact run.
I usually just smite myrkul to oblivion.
Last time I had the Myrkul fight she got focused hard and went down before she even got to her turn.
My Durgadin had to pull frontline duty while Shadowhart did her best to get Lae'zel up long enough to actually get some health back while Gale acted as the long range artillery I built him as, taking out all of the extra foes.
Thought Durge was also a gonner for a moment when I was down to 5 health along with Lae'zel being down again and Shadowhart out of spell slots, but I rolled a nat 20 on my last smite, Myrkul no more after that.
Yea.. my first run of Myrkul I talked Ketheric into submission and had to fight everyone at once. I had Karlach (Throwzerker), Gale (shadow blade bladesinger), and Wyll, and both Gale and Wyll got knocked out real fast. Then the game froze and I had to reload.
Try #2 I made sure to fight Ketheric (giving me time to clear out the additional enemies) before beating him up to summon Myrkul. Managed to kill Myrkul in 2 turns, mostly by having Karlach throw some water on him, then having both Gale and Tav throw down some upcast lightning bolts (tav then maximizing damage with a channel divinity). Funny how a fight can go from impossible to easy when you've taken out the mindflayer and hp sacrifices.
Now, now, Lae’zel. You know we don’t solo in this party.
Someone(usually Us through some teleportation help) gets up there and frees Aylin, while someone else(likely the same teleporter hasted/having drunk a Speed potion) takes out the Mindflayer. Then someone casts Wall of Fire on Myrkul, and we go ham.
My only complaint is her dislike for tadpoles. Cmon Laezel, if anyone is going to "Cull the Weak" it should be you.
I Lae’zel saved my run against Orrin, disarmed both of her dumbass knives, picked them up and just beat her to death with Sarevok’s sword, self healing to max health over and over again.
I love the way she just fucking thumps the baddies with her great sword. It’s so satisfying!
First I wasn't sure about lae. Now ? She's amazing. Will go to hell with you.
My system is simple. Karlach sneaks in and ports/flys up to the mindflayer and starts it all out with a mighty hammer to it's squishy face.
This is paramount. The flayer has to die first otherwise he can really make a ton of trouble.
Someone follows Karlach to free the Night song.
Meanwhile another party member shoots up to take care of the casters on the upper left platform. Everyone else(summons and all) gangs up on Ketheric and whatever Intellect Devourers he's got running around. Scratch likes biting them so he gets to play a bunch.
Once Myrkul shows up it's ranged attacks and up close guys climbing up and hitting him and running back down below the platform to get cover from his attacks.
He's usually down in 2 or 3 rounds depending on the party makeup.
I haven't done an Honor run yet but from my exp Myrkul is a bit of a punk. He drops easy.
* Call lightning
* Potions of speed
* ???
* Dead avatar of Myrkul
Speed potions are absurd. It's like easy mode distilled into a convenient and delicious beverage.
On HM hes a little tougher, but still drops easy if you play it right.
First step is to use TB mode to throw Invisibility potions onto everyone and then sneak into position for a surprise round.
The goodest boy frees Nightsong while my Gloom Assasin Astarion stomps the squid and the brain dogs.
The skeleton mages get a wall of fire, and then Kethric gets hammered hard by Lae Zel and/or Karlach or Minthara. Darkness or HoH on the Avatar and boom down he goes. He cannot move, so darkness and HoH are hard counters that blind him.
I didn't even know the goodest of boys could do that. All this time I've just had him looking cute and nipping heels.
Invisible Scratch is my favorite way to free Aylin. Then he eats any remaining intellect devourers. Us helps too.
I really should do a run where I don’t kill her at the start of act one
Not at the start for me but I'm (still) on my first playthrough and she attacked someone during sleep (not sure if it was me)
I failed some rolls and she is now longer with us due to that.
I’ve done this fight with the most correct love interest in the game, Berserker Mama K,and she makes it so unbelievably easy. Wyll to Hex and continuously Eldritch Blast, Shadow Heart to buff and control adds, and usually Tav with 2 or so Misty Step items to free Nightsong. Just have Karlach chuck the Returning Pike 3 times a turn. DPS through Tanking
I definitely regret not using Leedle as much during my first playthrough, done right she can be a fucking blender.
Go Battlemaster, Disarm Myrkul, laugh in istik
My friends and I killed him in a single round
Whoever brought wyll and gale to the ketheric fight deserved to die cause that’s just poor decision making 😂😂😂 minthara and karlach are right there 😂😂
IMO the men in this game are useless except my bbg Astarion 🫶
Lae'zel's that one idiot who would die first, or the last one remaining (from my experience).
Bae'zel
I played a fighter my first play through. I swapped Astarion out in favor of Lae’zel and I already had Gale and Shadowheart with me. Despite literally going up against a god of death, it was one of the easiest fights. Lae’zel and I just kept hitting him, SH was on standby, healing us and occasionally throwing a fire bolt. And Gale, thanks to Magic Missle and Fireball took care of anything else. Ketheric’s speech at the end being like “you have no idea, what you’ve done” and I was like “no, I do. I just killed death and it was pretty easy to. All I took was two level 7-8 fighters
For me this is either my Karlach or Minthara, slap a haste on em and let em go to town.
Lae’zel a real one
She is definetly tanking and hitting hard af.
How did you get 25 ac tho ?
I've got this battle coming up with my Great Weapon Master, Hexblade, Gith, Durge. I'm hyped for it.
To think I proceeded to fight Myrkul with Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart and my Durge (Warlock)
What is risky ring
Gives you advantage on attacks but disadvantage on saving throws. You can buy it from a vendor in act 2.
My openhand/thief took him out pretty quick. They do a lot of damage.
I couldn’t stop laughing with this one
I've never died in that fight myself, I'm usually a Paladin and I run over everything roughshod, but I've had to redo it over and over due to Aylin getting herself killed.
Aylin is immortal - if you shove/throw her out of the Myrkul's Presence aura, or win the fight, she should get right back up.
So when she falls over dead mid-fight, she's just pretending? It has no actual repercussions if I fail to keep her suicidal ass alive? I'm honestly kind of mad about that. Is that still true in the fight later at Lorroakan's tower? Because I reloaded that stupid fight several times for the same reason.
Wait what's the risky ring. I've never seen that.
I believe
Ah, Fighters and Paladins, the craziest burst damage classes in the game.
There are better ways to play DnD than nova builds, but getting big damage every single turn is really fun.
I'm all for praising lae'zel but I just wanna say that I steamrolled her when she fought SH. I spent a good chunk of time getting good gear for me and her so I could really test my skill and I was surprised at how easy she went down
I don't care if it's optimal build or not but Lae'zel's riposte is THE most satisfying & coolest action in the game. No need to convince me otherwise, not happening.
*Proceeds to miss every attack roll*
Build her better. Not to be confused with building her a bear. By mid Act 2 she is averaging at least 100 damage a round for me.
Yee.
Her strength score ends up so high that she hits with the precision and yield of an orbital kinetic strike. It's beautiful.
Better builds are no match for RNG’s seething hate for me
I can make her do that, but never by herself, at the very least, she needs advantage on every attack she makes
Sacrificed her to BOAAAL in my current run. Felt a little bit bad
Using her racial jump ability and just dive bombing in to do some harm is just 👌
Started a co-op run with some friends recently. The first time I did the Gith Jump they called me a Jedi lmaooo
Athlete feat is actually good in this game (vs standard dnd). I had Karlach subclassed to do damage when jumping, so I also gave her athlete feat b/c of that. But then crazy jumps became so useful outside of attacking too.
Edit: can y'all please stop telling me how else I could've done the outpost?
Jumping over entire puzzles/defenses feels so good in this game lol. It feels like cheating but nah you just have really strong legs.
You can fly????
No. Jump good.
"No. Jump good."
Musical theme
"We'll be right back-"
Hwacha!!!
I love this show. Watched it all on Youtube not too long ago
I felt that way when i cheesed that one Grymforge statue part by just... Misty Stepping in. Its funny
I had lae'zel as a tiger barb and gave her athlete, the jump distance was genuinely insane. No one was safe.
Athlete feat is actually really good in standard dnd too, just not for the reason you would think. It lets you stand up from prone with only 5 feet of movement, instead of half of your movement. You can always intentionally drop prone as a free action, but normally the movement penalty makes it really sus. With athlete, the downside is almost entirely gone. If you are not familiar, while prone does give melee attackers advantage, it gives ranged attackers disadvantage, which makes this incredibly useful vs enemies with ranged attack rolls. Is athlete as good as a full feat? No, but it is a half feat, so it isn't competing with full feats.
Look out, everyone! Here goes John Baldur power sliding into combat again.
That Act 1 Underdark Outpost: it's a Selune outpost connected to the Selune temple that the goblins took over. You can get inside through the goblin camp by solving a simple puzzle, this was actually the way I thought you were "supposed" to go.
Oh poop. Is it not? Is there a more 'official' entrance?
Any path you take is the correct path, this is the way of BG3. It's just that there are 3 or 4 paths to the underdark, as I discovered on later playthroughs.
In act one I believe there are 4 ways into the underdark. (Spoilers)
Through the Goblin Camp
Through the Zentharim Outpost
Through Granny’s Lair
Underneath the Spider Matriarch
You can just sneak to the selunite outpost gate without getting lit up.
You can shatter the crystal on top of the statue staff to drop that magic barrage at the gate.
Gives me real Dragoon vibes doing this.
Did you doubt that frog wife could leap?
I used it in the fight against the harpies by the druid grove a few days ago for the first time. We were wasting turns trying to get up the cliffs to the ones out of our reach, and then I realized Lae'zel could just jump 3 stories up and punch those dumb bird ladies in the nose (beak?)
