Seriously. Probably not for maritime rescue, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a USCG record for flash-flood rescues.. but maybe not.. it’s a pretty stellar institution..

Give this guy some kind of high level distinguished service medal or SOMETHING.

Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal or even Coast Guard Cross seems in order.

We had the great fortune to speak with Scott during a tour of the Coast Guard Air Station a couple of weeks ago and his in life personality is exactly what you see in the interviews. He is a really great guy that has a true passion for his work... a great influence to the kiddos on the tour! Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi is full of top notch heroes!

I used to think of the Coast Guard was the least of the branches.

But watching 10+ years of Deadliest Catch blew my mind about how daring and able those Coast Guard teams are.

I’ll never forget how the Coast Guard defied all orders and went in to rescue people in New Orleans after Katrina. Just a “fuck it, we are going in to save lives and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do about it.” Badass….

Did he literally swim and collect each person??? 🤯

TheDixonCider420420

He should get "tally marks" tattooed for each life he saved. He'd have a full sleeve.

Kudos to Scott and his pilots.

Electrical_Beyond998

What’s crazy is that this was his first mission as a rescue swimmer. He just finished his training six months ago, and went on to do this amazing work. God bless him.

His mustache though 🤣 Reminds me of yearbook pictures you see of high school seniors in the 70’s, you know they’re around 18 years old but they look like they’re middle aged used car salesmen.

Fantastic work by this PJ(Parajumper). Organizing the triage center for the injured almost single-handedly, getting the helo sites cleaned up to receive and organize the survivors to load onto them. This boy has a bucket of medals waiting for him at the Oval Office.

Camp Mystic was an active river bed and the primary flow was diverted. Guess what happens when the banks overflow and water returns to its previous flow?

InnocentlyInnocent

That’s an interesting fact. Do you know why they did it in the first place?

pueblodude

No, not really. I read the nearly identical information from 2,3 different sources. Seems like a man made catastrophe waiting to happen.

Hate to be that guy, but…. He’s a rescue swimmer. That’s his job. He did his job well. One that he’s trained extensively for and paid for. This is like saying, “Joe from accounting is amazing. He counted well during the hardest time of year, tax season!”

I'd rather we save people without needing these Herculean efforts through prevention, which is done by not giving power to people who shouldn't have it

The EMT mustache has to go!

InvalidUserNemo

When one’s job may require a mask to seal tightly along the jawline, a mustache is the only acceptable form of facial hair to maintain the seal. Let’s let our first responder have what little options remain for face whiskers without judgement.

victus28

Tbf my mask might not seal but ima look damn good with them Anthrax twitches

Detritussll

I judge them every time and it will never stop.

InvalidUserNemo

You judge medical first responders trimming their facial hair so they can use PPE safely on a post about a first responder saving 100+ people? I’m here if you need to vent to someone so your comments aren’t public.

Detritussll

I would refuse service if I saw that stache. Yes, he did a good job.
