Hope they are near enough to land
An adult polar bear can swim for days. They float easily without doing anything because of all their fat and hollow hair. I don't think this is far from land with all those small boats around. They'll be fine. The people in the boats are probably in more danger if they get any closer.
The people in the boats are probably in more danger if they get any closer.
Seriously, I wouldn't have gotten anywhere near that close to a mama and her cubs. Polar bears absolutely will kill you.
I mean, "if it's brown lay down, if it's black fight back, if it's white goodnight.."
"if it's white and black, pity it"
I havenāt been right since I found out a group of pandas is called an embarrassment.
I was sure you are making a joke.... It is true š³š³ i mean it is fitting but they did not have to do them dirty like that!
You see what I mean?! I still aināt rightā¦.
Bring it a snack
But that doesnāt rhyme
If it's white and black, pity it,
Eats all day and throws a fit.
Won't fight, wonāt flee, just sits and chews.
Nature made it just to lose.
...it's black & white, it's not "all right"?
āIf itās white and black, you can afford to be slackā
Adult pandas can still kill you.
No they canāt. I saw a video of a panda attacking a zookeeper in China. It got bored halfway through and the zookeeper was basically unharmed.
šš
What if it's orange?
Not just kill you, they'll track you for miles and hunt you down for an easy meal.
I read they're the only bear that will track us like that. But they're so cute!
Cutest apex predator without a doubt. If only they could be friendly like dogs
Classic "if not friend, why friend shaped?"
That would be so cool - or like pandas!

Yeah, they have been known to track over miles. There is an instance of this happening with a man on a snowmobile, he was tracked all the way back to his house.
One of the few animals that will ACTIVELY hunt humans for food. Polar bears are fucking terrifying
It's also super illegal to get that close in your boat.
Polar bears will kill you for funsies. A mama and her cubs... they were really lucky.

They will kill you just for fun. Them things wild.
Agreed. I was a zookeeper who briefly worked with an amazing polar bear who was extremely elderly and at the end of her life. She absolutely would have eaten me with no hesitation, and this is an extremely old, extremely well cared for and who was born in human care. I would never want to meet on in the wild.
they float easily without doing anything because of all their fat
Heeey thatās me!
Are you my spirit animal?
all it takes is for her to get one claw hooked onto something on that boat and its game over. yikes.
The adults can swim for days and if they have one baby she can swim with a cub on her back , she canāt always do this with two cubs and sometimes a cub will die on a long swim
So the mother bear is out fishing for sympathetic humans?
Catfishing?
I mean it's close enough to land that you can see land.....
Awww... im a polar bear
What is the purpose of them swimming, to find fish to eat?
Seal, they primarily hunt seal
lol fat
If you watch the whole video you can see land...
Yeah my first thought was "Are they ok? Do they need help?" Like a glacier melted out from underneath them or something, and they're stranded. But then I realized "Oh you. What a silly thought."
Get out of my head! I had the same thought process. Haha.
Haha I also did too. Then I debated how dangerous it would be to allow them on the boat with me and what would I do. Then I realized they probably didn't get deserted out there like pets and they didn't just lose their glacier and are fine š¤£š¤£
Exactly what I was thinking
One polar bear has been documented to swim 426 miles nonstop over 9 days. A 30 mile swim would be routine for these guys.
Swimming for 9 days straight is wild, could you imagine the sleep that bear took after, and then the meal hahaha
They can swim for days and sleep in the water 50 km swim is the regular one. The longest record is 682km of swimming . Dont worry, they are fine .
you can literally see it in the rear of the video
You can see land on the upper left hand side early on
If it makes you feel better, there is land in the background when the recording first starts
This is what they do for a freaking living!
Landās in sight, not too far a swim for those beasts
They should never be so close.
Nah you can swim with them fine. They're kinda like dolphins with fur
Nah you can swim with them fine
Once, sure!
Cool!
Iāll go try. Wish me luck!
Do you have a face left?
Furry dolphins with huge murder mittensā¦.
You can swim with them for the rest of your life!
Donāt dolphins rape each other, fish, and probably humans if the cards are right?
Thatās not whats so evil. They plot against each other. They are so intelligent, they will gather in groups and set up a trap to jump another dolphin couple, drown the male and then they rape the female.
Even ducks do similar shit. I was on a walk and I saw a a duck holding another duck down with his beak around her neck while another duck tried raping her.
Whatās really crazy is people do that shit.
It's not only ducks, other poultry do the same. We had six hens and two roosters - one full grown, the other rooster was still young. His hormones hit and all he wanted to do was jump on the hens, who were all devoted to the other rooster and would scream if the young one came near them, which meant the old boy would come running and beat the crap out of the younger one. Then one day I noticed that we only had five hens, and thought maybe a fox had got one or something. Another day or two passes, and I realise the young rooster isn't as obsessed with the other hens, he didn't seem as desperate and horny, he was relaxed and happy.
So I followed him .. and found the dead hen. No idea what killed her, whether old age or if she'd been sick or whatever, but safe to say her corpse had been violated by the young one many many times. He was so content, so happy that he finally had a girl that wouldn't scream in panic if he came near, and the older wasn't beating him up for trying to get his rocks off.
I was devastated. It went against all my feelings and morals as a human, and yes I did rescue the poor dead hen from her necrophiliac lover, much to his disappointment.
Omfg a necrophiliac Rooster š
One simply cannot know what ducks are into. But dolphins? Splashy psychos.
They have when the cards are right.
More like furry deathsharks!
I think the Inuit guys who have lived in the arctic their entire lives know how to stay safe.
I think it's more about the harassing wildlife part that they're talking about.
How is this harrassing?
If you can't see how driving a power boat up to within a few feet of a mother bear and her cubs is harassment then I really can't help you.
Right, can't have the last remaining polar bears all in the same place...
I'm having mixed feelings about this š
They can swim for days and sleep in the water 50 km swim is the regular one. The longest record is 682km of swimming . Dont worry, they are fine .
Edit: i can't find a source of them sleeping in water, then i think i was wrong about that, but the swim distance are true
Okay that actually put me at ease. Thank you for informing me
Whilst the polar bears are at SEAS!...
Also the cubs?
To shreds you say?
I can't find that they "sleep in the water" anywhere?
You found it on Reddit, and that's enough for most people.
You are right, my bad. i can't find proof of it
I read it in the past, but now icant find it , Thanks.
I will edit it
I've also read news of polar bears drowning in the past because of melting ice caps. So yes let's hope the family of bears are fine but it's still concerning what we are doing to the environment.
Still not okay to get that close to them with your boat.
Polar bears are categorized as marine mammals. Their name in Latin is ursus maritimusā¦sea bear.
Theyāre fine.
Unless some Orca show up
Sure, but that goes for any animal. Any predator can turn into prey when confronted with a much larger, more effective predator.
Want to help ā¦. Donāt want to be eaten alive ā¦. Want to help ā¦.
They don't need help.
Have you heard the tale of how Mackinac Island came to be?
Are you thinking of sleeping bear dunes? Growing up in Michigan I remember Mackinac being a giant turtleā¦
yeah me too.š
2 things. Polar bears are not ALWAYS in ice. And they can swim for days at a time.
Imagine polar bears adapt to warmer weather start to show up in more populated places
This is literally already happening, in Canada at least. Ice caps are melting, not enough land to hunt on so polar bears are coming further south. There are now hybrid "pizzly" bears, polar bears crossed with grizzlies.
Pizzly does not sound nowegre near dangerous enough for a polar bear offspring! I have seen cases years ago when these were not previously documented and they called it a "grolar bear"...i though grolar bear fits the ferocious polar bear + grizzly nature....pizzly is making me want to laugh my ass off at them (until i get beheaded i guess)
Being hybrids, I think they do look a tiny bit derpy so maybe pizzly isn't so inaccurate
Polar in ice? Who put them in the fridge?
Few things, of all the bears polar bears are the scariest. One of the best ways to get attacked by a bear is to go near a mother bears cubs. Polar bears are fantastic swimmers. So much so that they have been documented swimming down and killing literal whales.
Besides you know disturbing animals, scaring off their prey if they are hunting with your boat, or whatever else. One good surge, and that mother bear is coming into that boat, or bringing you into the water. Neither is a place you want to be with a polar bear.
If itās black, fight back! If itās brown, lay down. If itās white, say goodnight.
If it's pink beware: care bear stare.
See kids? What did I tell you? Road snacks. They just come to you.
Beautiful water, but I bet it is cold.
The water being cold is ABSOLUTELY the least of their worries. They're polar bears. Exhaustion/drowning or starvation is probably the much grander concern here.
There is clearly land visible in the background. Polar Bears are buoyant. They float for days. They store fat for much longer. The bears are not in any distress or discomfort. The only concern is humans being humans and running towards the sight of fire.
Why just leave them alone??? Get them into panik and drive near them!
Aw, proof that no matter the species, mom life is universal
Mom canāt even go for her morning swim without her cubs jumping on top of her.Ā
This is pretty expected. A polar bear is a very aquatic bear/animal. Can swim for days.
Right? Every time I go out in my boat I expect to see a family of polar bears swimming together.
They look cute from there but they are an apex predator and completely unmatched for raw power compared to any other land predator so best keep distance.
What is that other boat doing? Is it involved? Are they rescuing the bears, arresting them? Did they make it? I want answers
Those are Inuit, probably hunting or fishing.Ā
That's putting a lot of history on those bears but I'm here for it
They don't need to be saved.
Arresting them then i guess
A polar bear doesn't need rescuing.
Arrested then, must be high stakes to go through that much trouble
Mother Polar Bear: āI donāt understand⦠There used to be ice here.ā
Wonderful š
Are they prey to anything when out like that?
Killer whales can eat swimming bears.
It looks very cute and absolutely dangerous.
["Good night" joke]
Lucky they're on a boat..wouldn't want to encounter that scene on land
Those look like they'll make tasty marshmallow morsels to a hungry pod of ORCAS! CAREFUL POLAR BEARS YOUR IN ORCA COUNTRY NOW!
Okay who yāall got these 3 polar bears or one orca ? And yes I know orcas travel in pods but this is Reddit, letās talk some non sense and have a laugh.. tell me why you choosing who.. and polar bears can swim gracefully for a very LONG time in the open water..
Thatās risky business right there
Was there some Coke cans near by?
"mom, there's a floating food there."
Must go faster.
She says: "See that cubs? Boat snack"
"We saw animals swimming and decided to get close and fuck with them"Ā
Hey Cute, Deadly, Deadly, Monster...
I'd make sure I was far enough away that I could nope-out if mama bear started swimming my way.
Objectively cooler than seeing a whale.
Man, none of them had a coke on them. That's disappointing
Imagine the mom bear grabs the passing boat climbs up and feeds the crew to the cubs
Mama bear: "I told you two to dive! Do you do this on purpose? š»āāļø"
Nope bears are so cute
To establish dominance, you pee on it's head. That's how you do it.
What about sharks getting them way out there
I'm more worried about that guy's safety in a situation like this.
ā¤ļø
Fear
Mama bear be like: hey that's our uber eats!
Do polar bears, when swimming out in the open water like this, sometimes get attacked by sharks or orca's ? :)
Theyāre going to try to steer them back to shore because the mom has Cubs who arenāt that great of swimmers and might also pose a risk to the mom and themselves if they tire her out.
I'd have shit my pants and cried getting this close
Very, very cool to see....
Why agitate them, why get so close? Perhaps itās young kids navigating the boat.
I hope my boat goes faster then they can swim! š. Super cute
Al Gore did this
"Look mummy, a floating snack!"
If you are in a place where they are native its pretty common. They are known for swimming.
No ice eh? Is that a concern?
Not a Coca Cola in sight. Just 3 polar bears living in the moment.
No ice in sight
All the way in Florida! I didn't know they snowbirded!
The mama bear emerged looking like she could feed her family immediately.
Anything with a pulse is food to a polar bear
FYI they're left pawed. Little tip to help you out in a close encounter.
They are chilling!
Thought that was an inflatable kayak for a second
āHey losers whereās your iceberg?!ā
No ice in sight... Will they drown?
Nice job running them over, maybe it would be a good idea to keep your distance so you donāt stress them out
Theyāre classified as a marine mammal. Deadly on land and see, truly amazing creatures.
Does not appear to be AI for a change.
Darwinism in action.
When mom made a wrong turn at Albuquerque
What happened? Video cut off way too soon
SO cute
OP must be a BOT because this is an example of global warming causing an exintiction . Won't be polar bears soon.
My thought if it could kill me, fuck it and move on. Poleās are melting., they need to adapt.
Something missing here!ā¦. Canāt put my finger on it though!
Run
Yeah, when you pass a looking cute death just a few meters away...
You mean seeing no ice whatsoever?
This isnāt amazing itās tragicĀ
[deleted]
or having nightmares about.
polar bears are actually considered marine mammals just like whales, seals, and walruses.
Reminds me of that one episode in Octonauts
