Cameraman has no idea how close they came to death
That tree that came out had tons of force behind it.
Don't walk back tho.
The thing could have impaled me, jeeze. [ ha ha ha ] My internal organs would be fish bait right now. Holy smokes [ hehehehe ]. Let's continue to stand here.
Meat grinder in-between all that ice.
Holy smokes!
No he didn't. The flow and size of the river meant an ice dam breaking would give ample time to take a few steps back. Being in places like this its important to pay attention to your surroundings to determine how something like this might escalate. The only way this person could have died is from stupidity or intentionally staying in place or walking forward. You might as well say someone hiking up next to a waterfall is close to death. Sure it can be deadly but its completely safe if you pay attention to your surroundings and not stupid.
You’ve never seen a soggy river bank wash away then.
If that water had come up just a few inches more, then it would have fully washed over the bank (washing some of it out with it) and could have swept the camera operator off their feet.
This near-death experience (NDE) changed for sure this person perspective and behavior, maybe leading to a greater appreciation for life and a shift in priorities. Should be tagged NSFW.
“What the world is this…?”
It’s your subtle warning to move dumbass.
After he gave a brief but accurate description what it was in the beginning of the video too, lol
Canadian eh
This was Vermont. So… yeah close enough
You should have seen the great poutine onslaught of 1984.
The curds invaded
I hope he is sorry
IT kind of seems they double down and kept recording.
Holy smokes.
I'm an old man and this is the first time that I've ever heard anyone say "Holy smokes".
*seen
Unless they used accessibility tools like text to voice
Well golly gee
Natural selection almost occurred. Social media will cull the herd.
I’ve realized my “time to get the fuck out of here” radar is far sharper then this guys.
Me - Nope! Nope! Nope! Nope! Run! Camera man - Golly gee! Wow!
Considering that nothing happened to the Holy Smokes guy It may be too sharp.
My guy. Plz get to higher ground. My anxiety cannot handle!
I don’t live in an area with ice dams. I am guessing this happens every year? This is wild
Perhaps several times
Look at all that dam ice!!
Maybe try using a different material for dam building other than ice?
Absolutely 0 self preservation skills.
The risk is worth the internet cred, obviously.
Holy smokes!
HOLY SMOKES
I've never seen this before...
Holy smokes. Holy smokes. Holy smokes. Holy smokes.
Oh My Gosh!
Holy smokes. Oh my gosh. What the heck?
That escalated quickly
"Holey smoke!" "Oh my gosh!" "What the heck!?" Y'all are adorable
Flash flood
I always wonder about these amazing shots. I’m assuming he had been upstream and predicted this would happen. Then hiked downstream and waited… for how long?
Or was he filming the migration patterns of the Canadian Ruffed Grouse and lucked into this shot? But then he should have freaked out!
Or was his cousin upstream and threw a stick of dynamite on an ice dam as he waited?
I need to know what happened!
This was crazy until they broke the ice
Cool
waterlanche
Too bad it broke. It was such an ice dam.
“What the heck”
Hey siri, play When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin
That would be cool to see in person though
WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?
Ned Flanders?!
This happened a few years back in Nebraska and was pretty devastating to the fields in the surrounding area.
Holy fucking shit!
-fish, probably.
Yes, I'm amazed at how naive that camera man is
Brave and stupid to stand there continuing to record. I'd get out of dodge long before it got that close.
Adorable commentary “holy smokes”. I need to stop cursing so much 🤬😅
Have people just completely lost their sense of self preservation? I see this more and more now, people recording natural disasters oncoming...like, floods, tornadoes, etc, with no forethought of the fact that these extremely dangerous natural phenomenon are heading right at them.
It is like the laxative final did its' job.
Bro back up lol
dam, thats a lot
If you see a surge of water coming at you, especially water with 300-500 lb chunks of ice, RUN! RUN! RUN!
Don't wait to see if it looks dangerous. By the time it looks dangerous, it's too late.
Nsfw plz. The language from these too is kaka poo poo.
Jeepers!!
Crikey!
Multiply by a billion and you wind up with what some scientists think happened that sparked the ”flood” myths around the world. And possibly even the destruction of Atlantis.
