It’s also Insane how high they can jump! He almost cleared the wall with the jump Closet to the camera.
Nice post!
He was saying "I could have got it if you gave me another minute"
And they might have!
I was in Yellowstone in the winter several years ago and we were watching a fox hunt for mice and voles that were moving under the snow. This was exactly how it jumped when it made the final spring!
My dog does this when I hide his toys under a blanket in bed. It's primal and adorable.
I just saw a video of a person doing it, like the fox version of those girls who teach themselves to gallop and go over jumps on all fours and stuff, and it was shockingly accurate. Wild, the things we people are capable of if something gets knocked off-kilter enough in our brains
F-you! Wait, I mean, thank you! But the other thing, too!
Hahahaha I laughed too hard ty for this
Aaaand, I'm outta here...
All that time jumping over lazy dogs wasn’t wasted
How is this not the top comment?
Yeah I have one and they have an unlimited nuclear reactor as a power source the the craziness they do
Imagine the firefighter’s response on needing a ladder for a “dog that’s stuck in a tree and doesn’t want to come down”
“Yes sir, we’ve offered treats, but I think it’s a malinois, so it’s asking for legal representation..”
Have you questioned them on who is infact a good boy while squatting down 6 inches rapidly? Repeat said process from standing position thrice, turn, sprint 10 feet, come to an abrupt stop and look over your shoulder at them.
You’re onto something here.. now over here… and over…. here!
I want a game where you play as one of these dogs
They do this demonstration at the Australia Zoo where they hang meat in a tree in the tiger cage. It’s way, way higher than this, and the fuckin tiger basically flies halfway up the tree before any climbing has to occur. I always knew a tiger would kill me easily on the ground, I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t be safe on a third story balcony.
Parkour-parkour!
lol beat me to it
A cat can jump 9 times their own height, I think foxes are dog like animals but they sure seem closer to cats at times.
Cat software running on dog hardware.
Hyenas are the inverse.
Its the Linux of canids.
Foxes have some cat hardware. It's a mess in there. An adorable mess.
Dolphin sound card
Catdog
They are firmly in the dog family, but I get the common comparison to cat behavior. Hyenas are like the opposite- cat hardware dog software
Some mountain goats can jump up to 12 feet. I was around some small goats a few days ago for a while, and they reminded me of cats with horns.
I raised Pygmy goats as my 4-H project. They topped out at maybe a foot and a half, two feet.
We’d find them in our apple tree branches munching on leaves and apples regularly.
I was just about to comment. I had no frickin' clue foxes had hops like that!! No wonder they're always managing to get onto farms and into chicken coups lol
Grey foxes climb trees (not sure about red foxes) in addition to screaming like a dying child. They are not graceful about climbing so they loudly scramble and knock branches off. Nothing like hearing a child screaming and then a cryptid destroying a tree in the middle of a moonless night.
BOING --- I've got this --- BOING --- almost got this --- BOING --- God damn it ----- BOING
Really I bet it could have made it out if it drove around in circles like those motorcycles in them death circles
I have foxes show up in my backyard sometimes- a mom and some kits or juveniles mostly. Then one day dad showed up. He jumped up on my privacy fence and walked along the top like a cat.
I used to have a Jack Russell terrier who kept getting out of our backyard and neighbors would always return him.
Out of curiosity, I wanted to investigate how he was doing it, so I setup a chair and just watched the side gate. Then I saw his little head poke up 2 or 3 times until he eventually cleared the fence and broke for freedom.
Little 4 legged canines can jump incredibly high lol.
Anyone else impressed at how far it could run up the wall itself?
Yes, absolutely. That’s gotta be what…a 6-8 foot leap he’s doing? Ain’t no chickens safe.
They are barely a foot long too. It is like if an human can run up a 50 feet or 15 meter wall in one jump.
Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy!
I wasn’t. He needs a lot more practice if he’s going to compete in the Olympics.
I would like to think the fox was grateful.....but in reality it was probably thinking "You slow ass bitch aint eating me today!!!"
Maybe he just had to return some video tapes.
One time I was returning a game to blockbuster on my bike, and the game fell out of my hand, so I hit the brakes hard and the game happened to land under my back tire and scraped on the floor for the few feet of braking. The part of the game case that was facing the floor was completely destroyed, but somehow the game survived. I returned it and never heard back from blockbuster about it.
Haven't thought about that in years.
I need you take a seat. I’m an undercover agent from Asset Recovery Field Operations for the Blockbuster Corp., which has directed me to put you on a payment plan. With penalties and interest, that’s $86,495. Cash or card?
Ah fuck, I can't believe I've done this.
You've got to be careful what you share on the internet, I'll never let them know that I swapped All Dogs Go To Heaven for Grave of the Fireflies so the one movie I had at home would make me less sad.
Hmm, kinda hard to tell which way that swap went lol
I need you to have a seat too.
I rented the movie Spawn. Forgot about it, went on vacation, and delivered it a week later. Had to pay like 60 $ in penalty. Totally worth it though, amazing movie.
A classic for sure.
My mom rented goldeneye 64 for me like 5 times before buying the game for me, so that’s like $80, but also totally worth it.
Your mother invented subscription before it was the norm.
Your username is fire! 🫡
I was very dope sick. I finally met my dealer in the blockbuster parking lot. He asked me to throw some of his dvds in the return. I threw the oxys’ in too. They wouldn’t give them back, and I was out of money and dope sick. It was a bad day.
Its an evolutionary advantage to run away from things you aren't going to eat, hanging around predators bigger than you is a good way to be removed from the gene pool.
Yeah, my cat hung around too long and woke up without balls one day. No more gene pool for you, buddy!
I was gonna say "tell that to my dog" but yeah he's in the same predicament
Bob Barker out there making Thanos look like a little bitch,
'I am appreciative of the aide in suriviving another day, but now I must flee the giant beings who could easily end my ability to survive another day. Toodles.'
Animals are always rude in these situations. Not even a thank you.
It's inferred.
"Fast as fucc boyyy"
He has seen humans go fishing before
I would keep a ladder in my pit of no escape.
That reminds me, I should probably check on my own pit…
Make sure to give it lotion. If you have to give it the hose again then it's going to dry out.
I fell in the pit, you fell in the pit, we all fell in the piiiii-yaaattt
Same with pools
This. Making it actually lethal would be better than some poor animal getting trapped in there until dying of starvation, dehydration, or something similar. I've done it accidentally myself, and I don't like to remember.
so owning a pit of no escape is fairly common in America, I suppose?
Nah, we are actually pretty good there. The HOAs won't let us have our pits.
Much smaller. I accidentally trapped mice in things like buckets and bottles a few times, and a bird once drowned in oil that I left uncovered. Also, I'm not American.
Edit: I almost fell victim to a pit of no escape myself once, too, but it wasn't quite inescapable.
I lived in a villa in a compound in the Middle East for several years. All the villas were connected by tall walls like this surrounding the gardens. The local cats loved to walk the tall walls. My villa had a little inner type courtyard with the only way in or out through the villa.
One day, I heard a cat crying and found kitty trapped. It was bouncing off the walls like the fox but not coming close to getting out. It wouldn’t let me near and became feral when I tried to come close. I tried food and other things but nothing worked. It was summer and hot and I couldn’t leave kitty out there so I decided to try to let it escape through my villa and out the back garden.
I opened the back door and got a broom and then opened the door to the courtyard. Kitty was suspicious as first but I waited and eventually it bolted out and I guided it toward the back door with the broom. It sailed over my kitchen island and counters, skittered across my dining room table and between some vases that it somehow didn’t break and out the back door. It dashed up a tree and across the top of the walls and presumably back home before I closed the garden door.
But then it wouldn't be a Pit of No Escape anymore.
It would be a Pit of One Escape. Good enough me thinks.
Is that what this is for? https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/s/lZ1h3g2pai
That's what she said!
I've got my best man in the parks department to work on filling it in.
So…. A regular pit?
That’s really smart. Had a bird trapped in my garage yesterday for an hour…with the garage door wide open. Still couldn’t find a way out.
Danged bird-brain
My thoughts exactly.
I had a bat trapped in my bedroom with a huge wide open window that just did the exact same loop in the room for over 30 minutes.
Eventually I got him out by timing a gentle whack with a broom right next to the window.
Birds just want to fly up. They don't get the idea of going down and out.
I had a two-story garage and a hummingbird was stuck. It stayed way up near the ceiling and wouldn’t come down close to the open doors (standard height). The ceiling was way too height for us to reach. I figured the little guy would eventually wear out, then collapse to the floor. At that time, he could just walk out if we left the garage doors open. Apparently it worked, because he was gone by morning.
Just like a fly, how are you flying against the window then once I open it, you start flying into the OTHER part of the window 😭
Think of birds as 2 year old toddlers, with wings strapped on them. That's what they basically are. It's a miracle they get anything done at all.
sly
Yes! I was trying to remember that game's name. I loved those games! Were there 2 and we all wanted a 3rd? Did that ever happen?
It occurred to me maybe you weren't talking about the games. Anyway, I looked it up. It was William and Sly and there were 2. The fox in the video reminded me of Sly in the game. Great older game!
Amazing game!! I liked one part better than the other, but I can't remember which lol. Ugh the whole vibe was sooo soothing and wondrous, total gem of a game 🥰
There's a more recent one on Steam with a huge open world and modern 3D graphics. Trippy as hell and of course lots of secrets to find. Not quite as soothing as the old 2D ones but it's nice.
as a fox
Solid human too
I never trust these animal rescue videos now after reading how many content creators purposely put animals in these dangerous situations to "save" them for content.
That man couldn't have done it better, really
Likely keeping his distance, fox daylight = rabies is probably his thinking
He’s the one who put the fox there in the first place.
I mean idk about you but if I’m pouring a foundation for a new house I don’t want a fox carcass in it
Probably put the fox in there to get the video
Dang… that would be messed up
Its a trained circus fox
That's always possible, but it's not like it would be unlikely for a fox to get stuck in a pit like that naturally. So it's also possible the fox fell in there on its own.
Well, he had to make sure that was his last resort
That fox is smarter than I am
This is the only Fox News I'm interested in.
You won't believe what just happened to me Larry 🤣
I hope they didn't put it in there on purpose for the video. 😶
What? No thank you?
What does the fox say? Boing!
Cool, but doubtful that the thinking is longform enough for the fox to actually see what the rope could do -- before trying it out.
Looks like straight trial and error, and then the little guy clenched down when he realized it was working.
Hey /u/Soloflow786,
This is now the top post on reddit. It will be recorded at /r/topofreddit with all the other top posts.
I wonder how much more lift the fox's tail provides. A few more inches?
Smart fox
I didn’t realize they could walk on walls
Thanks, time to gtfo
Cunning as a..
One could say it was….Fantastic
Clever girl
Thats cool! what did it have to say afterwards?
Can I pet that dog?!?!
[removed]
Todd is free!
Honestly so impressive how high he was able to get on his own!
Little dude is a parkour pro.
Hell ya dude
Tried his hardest to escape and then was like humph fine I’ll take the help
Good Human
And don't come back!
Is that a fox hole?
Fox: Dog Hardware, Cat Software
Those fuckers are springy
clever girl
Took him a minute
And i thought that the only smart fox was the one from zootopia
Typical fox. Not so much as a "thank you".
You know, you can fly Tails...
What! No thank you?!? I swear, some animals are sooooo ungrateful! :-)
I wish humans could just overall be better to animals.
Humans being bros.
What did the fox say?
Clever girl!
They could have just started filling it with concrete so the fox could swim to the top
didn't even stay to say "thanks"!
Clever fox
Sure. Stand there and record I guess.
Crazy! Crazy like a..some kind of crazy animal.
Don’t call me sly for nothing!!👏🏼 bravo!!
It's like in video games where your character's jump is juuuuust shy of being able to make it up.
Clever as a…oh yea
Hy didn’t he turn around and show appreciation? Is he stupid?
Smart as a fox.
Nice people are the best
Didn't even say thank you
Crash bandicoot!!
He just got tired of hitting some clips on skate 3 and decided to dip respectfully.
“Smart like a fox”
You Sly Fox YOU!!!
Is this where they held Jesse Pinkman?
what did he say???
I'm dumb, I thought the fox was gonna climb up the rope.
Now destroy that stupid place
Yeah, no problem mate
TIL foxes can wall run like ninjas. No wonder keeping the chickens save from them has been such a historical struggle
I wish I could know what he was saying
Animals rarely say thank you, they just jet as soon as you finish helping them 😂
There's a reason they have a reputation for being clever.
Where is the pause and 'thank you' look back, there is always a thank you look back..
He almost backflipped out of the pool, Mac would be so jealous
He got that Crash Bandicoot double jump unlocked
"Cleaver girl"
Really hope the camera person didn’t put the fox in the hole to then record it. Also, instead of helping, why is it the first instinct to hit record instead of help??
He just needs to use his Up B.
Aweeee ❤️❤️
I wonder how long that took in real time.
Beautiful!
*flying fox
Im over here, heart racing, like: COME ON FOX! REALIZE THE ROPE IS AN OPPORTUNITY!!
Great video
What's crazy... crazy like a fox!
