right foot forward hmmmm
He only had his right foot forward on this “play action“ every other drop was left foot. Hope that doesn’t become a tell
If it’s something we can immediately figure out there’s no way an NFL coaching staff (a competent one at least) allows him to do that.
He's not simulating receiving a snap here in shotgun. He's simulating being under center and rolling into his fake hand off when he starts the drill.
That’s pre Ben Johnson thinking. We gotta think outside of the box. Make it seem like a tell. Let a play or two get blown up, and then fake the tell to hit a huge play a la “stumblebum”
this is the galaxy brain cope i need from more of you degens. good work vbh.
There is a longer video on Instagram where his left foot is forward for the rest of the throws.
Yea didn't bj ask him to work with left forward?
My guess is a lot of people have. A right handed QB should be taking snaps with the left foot forward.
Caleb had a lot to un-learn from his days at school and their offense. Idk if this has anything to do with it, but he should be fixing it.
He probably is working on it, but like all long-ingrained habits from elite athletes, it can take a looong time to re-program. Professional golfers measure success in making tiny changes over the course of a year or more, not weeks or months.
Doesn't it change depending on under center vs shotgun? And left foot forward for a right handed QB means setting up for an even numbered step dropback, with right food forward an odd numbered step dropback. Or am I completely misunderstanding this?
For shotgun. This looks like under center

Yeah it's the exact thing Ben Johnson did with Goff.
I just looked up Goff’s 2024 highlights and this is it. Under center his right foot is forward, in the gun it’s his left
How sure are we that this video is even from this off-season? Was there any credit or reference to it anywhere? Could have been from last off-season?
This and other videos of him training off-season workouts were posted by Caleb Williams on his Instagram story yesterday Sunday June 29th. These are current from Caleb himself
Edit: The other videos/clips (there's four other clips he posted on his story) they all show left foot forward, besides this one being the only one with right foot forward.
But...but I saw him enjoying his time off at a concert!!! Dudes a bust!
Everyone shit on him last year (not us). But there is nothing that says he still can't be a Hall of Fame caliber QB with the guidance of Ben Johnson. His story is just beginning and he has all the tools. Work hard, study hard, and lead hard.
I’ll take slightly above average
I'll take 30/8
He was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league last year by most meaningful statistical measures (aside from INT rate).
Hall of fame is a pretty lofty expectation, even for someone like Jayden Daniels who just had one of the greatest rookie seasons ever. For Caleb its frankly not on the table right now.
We would be lucky to get a 10 year average QB career from him.
Practice nothing but long balls.
That is something he has to work on. His short passes were fine but he overthrew so many long balls last season.
Which is crazy because I watched a video of every time he threw or ran during college and he was hitting some really nice deep balls.
Mark this as NSFW.
Super Bowl guaranteed.
Dude is a hard worker, that's for sure. He looks pretty buffed there; not a qb or qb coach so there's not really much I am qualified to critique; just happy to see him putting in the work.
But what I really want to comment on is that field; save for a couple of divots, it's gorgeous. I would have loved to have practiced or played on something like that when I played.
That ball handling looks crisp AF
“too slow, not enough effort”
Who’s downvoting very obvious tongue-in-cheek comments?
lol really. i thought the reference was obvious
Morons?
Not gonna lie, the comment I originally typed out was not friendly.
Yeah...we 'bout to see a lot more play action.
Fingers crossed
Dudes looking good!
watching these Pro QBs throw a football sometimes is just so crazy.
looks like a pitching machine when the ball is released
All these video mean shit, i want to see results in games not some practice.
I can help you. Don’t watch social media practice clips
i don't watch any of it
That’s like a 10-15 yard out route. Good luck Caleb. We want you to do well this season.
A little behind…
on Retro Bowl where I’m a world champion QB, you have to throw it a bit in front of the receiver…
All I’m saying is if Caleb wants me to gift him a subscription, let me know when and where…
What is the point of these workouts, honestly? We hear all about JD and the VR work he does. Caleb sucked at reading coverages and setting protections. Not sure throwing with no pressure or defenders is that worthwhile? I get working on footwork but idk. Maybe I’m too pessimistic
You’re too pessimistic. It’s important for him to get his footwork down and route timing
Ummm.. sometimes Steph Curry just shoots some free throws in the gym ya know?
That’s my quarterback 😁
