Family Fest Reviews?

It randomly looks like we will be in Chicago when Family Fest is taking place. Anyone gone before? Is it worth going to with a 12 year old whose never been to Soldier Field before? Do tickets for the is need to be purchased right when they go on sale?

It’s a very inexpensive way to get to soldier field with the kiddos. Last time I went was Fields last year so the tickets did not sell out. Not sure how it will be this year with all the kool-aid we’ve been drinking.

There was also no Family Fest last year because of the HOF game, so demand might be higher this year.

Yep. I was already hoping I get a training camp day to take them to instead

It’s a fun event and very family friendly. Getting to Soldier Field is a logistical nightmare but once you’re there it’s a good time.

They have a bunch of tents set up outside the stadium for face paintings and little give aways, but they usually have pretty long lines. They have music playing and some sports activities for kids to do as well. Then the team does a practice and scrimmage in the stadium. Pro shops and concessions are open too.

We would get there early, have a couple beverages and snacks in the parking lot then take the kids out on the campus to toss the football around until the stadium opened up. Kids always had a blast. Skip the face painting and activities, the lines are too long. My kids never complained about missing the outside activities (even when they were little) because they saw the lines and agreed it was a waste of time when we could just hang out and play catch.

Pro tip if you park inside the stadium you can drop off your stuff back in your car then walk in from the parking garage entrance.

Yep. We always skip the stuff they have outside the stadium bc of the lines.

It's a huge waste of time, but I'll be there, and so should you.

I lived in the area back when they first started doing this. I went with my dad 3 or 4 years in a row. From what I remember it was a good time, and it was cool to see them practice at soldier field.

I don't think you need to purchase tickets immediately although it wouldn't hurt. When I was younger and in HS like 20 years ago I'd go every year. Cheap, fun for the kiddos.
