Im attempting to hang gutters at my house and what I thought would be a fairly easy and straight forward process has became a huge pain in the ass.
So im trying to run the gutters towards a drain spout at the front of my house. Its approximately a 33.5 foot run. I pieced 3 sections together (2 16ft sections and then a cutoff to make up the rest) and me and a friend got it up in place Monday night. I came home yesterday with intentions to finish it and put decided to spray the hose on the roof to make sure the water was draining the right direction, and it wasnt. All the water was running towards the back of the house, even thought judging by the facia board we had about 1 inch drop from the back to the front.
So I decided to try again and piece everything together on the house rather than make a 34.5 foot section and try to hold it all in place.
So I removed the initial attempt and measured the facia (5.5 inches) I made a mark at 1 inch on the rear and dropped it by 1.25 inches at the front and snapped a chalk line. I took the first section up and lined it up the best I could and it appears that if I follow the chalk line the water either wants to just lay on the gutter or run towards the back. I lowered it down again to get it to run out the correct side but at this rate im gonna be 2+ inches under the drip edge at the end where the downspout is.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated before I pull my hair out. And I can take an supply pictures if anyone is kind enough to DM to help me.
Tl;dr. Gutter slope is making me lose my mind and is turning me into an alcoholic
Normal drainage slope is usually 1:100, which is approximately 1 inch per 8 feet. Your run would require one end to be 4 inches below the other.
