We see Paimon has attachment issues when it comes to the Traveler... i wonder how she would react if they tried and leave Teyvat... oh
How about she comes along? That would be nice... Can't leave your emergency food after all
I really hope that we will be able to leave with Paimon once the Teyvat's chapter is over ಥ_ಥ
We need paimon for the paimon menu so probably
What if Paimon sacrifices herself but only a remnant of her being survives, taking it with ourselves once we leave, and thinking of something like the MCU's Groot, it becomes its own being in the near future.
“How about we explore the area ahead of us later”
I needed yandere Paimon
Wait...is the game a massive time loop where Asmodey has fun with each of the twins?!
a massive time loop
That would also mean Istaroth is an accomplice
What if it's just Paimon keeping us here on a loop to play with us? But she doesn't realize, because she has allowed herself to regress and compartmentalize to get the full experience.
Which explains why Istaroth just so casually accepts it
I really really think so, at least about the time loop thing. It was that quest in Sumeru where they look into the mirror and see their twin that sealed it for me. Each loop, they take turns swapping places and playing the roles of the Traveler and the Abyss Sibling.
Oh shit...... Wonder why Paimon doesn't just come with us to another world though... or can she not leave Teyvat
Been a really popular theory for a very long time, since beginning of the game. We are close to seeing it realized if its true
After all, Paimon loves Traveler more than anything. To Paimon, Traveler is her entire world
When the Ruler of Space says you're her everything, thats crazy. She literally has dominion over all the ohysical realm, and she values you MORE than all of it
Honestly I actually see quite a lot of early Christian and Judeo imagery in story and lore of Genshin (In addition to lots of other influences)
Like the names of the gods themselves is judeo lore (not Tanakh)
But if your theory is right; that's the exact premise of Christianity; the ruler of creation came down to Earth because he loves his creation.
Not saying that Genshin is showing Christian/Jewish things but it uses a lot of imagery and concepts too for many of their story lines. IN ADDITION to other religious/pop culture.
(This is especially so for Fontaine story)
Kinda cool tbh
The game is heavily inspired by Gnosticism, so it makes sense. And Fontaine was basically just French Jesus.
This is a stretch but i have always found it interesting that Mondstadt, the nation based on germany, also has the least interventionist god - on some level this is obviously based on German liberalism, but now i'm wondering of lutheran doctrine of "sola fide" (faith alone) intentionally plays a part.
wiki:
Justificatio sola fide (or simply sola fide), meaning justification by faith alone, is a soteriological doctrine in Christian theology commonly held to distinguish the Lutheran and Reformed traditions of Protestantism,\1]) among others, from the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Assyrian, Methodist and Anabaptist churches.\2])\3]) The doctrine asserts that it is on the basis of faith alone that believers are made right of sin (such as their transgressions of divine law); and not on the basis of what Paul the Apostle calls "works of the law",\4]) which sola fide proponents interpret as including not only moral, legal or ceremonial requirements but any good works or "works of charity."
mondstadt is the nation whose god refuses to rule, while having a strong church (and the knights ironically make it seem a little theocratic despite the lack of venti) - almost as if all one needs in mondstadt is faith in the archon.
It's not really based on just Germany. It's a hot pot like Natlan is. It has German aspects in the town but it also has English aspects as well with its medieval and story book theming. It being a nation of freedom was probably an American thing as well.
Some CCs have proven that mondstadt is not Germany but rather Swiss.
Swiss divergence from Germany is pretty recent - though it does admittedly occur before my liberalism hypothesis. Still, i think it's fair to say they're a mashup of several germanic countries
Forcefully separating your twin from you because she's all you need.
Oh god, seeing that line reminds me of someone else...
Even the coffee was complaining this patch
Kinda poetic since traveler is descender- a being who wills that can rival an entire world
Yeah but why would the ruler of space separate the travelers only to become Traveler's BFF?
I am thinking she lost her powers and memories, and since the Shades need to be linked with a Descender to exist (strongly implied in this trailer), she just happened to latch on to another Descender
What if Travelers are actually bad guys something like Galactus (devourer of worlds) like in MCU, and Paimon split them to show that her world is worth to be spared?
Are we the baddies??
i mean we do slaughter every living thing to make ourself stronger
And we catalyze some form of revolution everywhere we go (except Mondstadt, ehe!)
Canotila did describe Traveler as a 'monster that can swallow the world in one bite'
Jealous or some shiiii
She could honestly be goabafied. No longer the old Sustainer but a smol version who dont remember.
So she ended up being friends with somebody she locked up
Sustainer of heavenly principles is a yandere confirmed.
She is preparing the Traveler to become the new Heavenly Principles
Would be poetic if the person that actually stopped Traveler from leaving Teyvat ended up becoming best friends with Traveler.
Maybe some power exhaustion-related physical regression is going on.
Could be that Asmoday grew weak after sealing Traveler and the twin and took a nap and shrunk with time or just physically regressed after using her powers to seal them. Then drops into the ocean. Like, there are so few characters that fly nonchalantly in the game, and the shades are some of them, and Paimon does all the time, so she might be Asmoday herself but can hardly do much more than that because all her powers have been reduced or dried up.
So Asmoday is smurfing as a little fairy with the guy she had prevented from leaving. Crazy stuff.
Paimon emergency food looking like Traveler might fusion dance with her and become Traveler-Paimonday. Maybe that is key to getting back Traveler's powers. The key to gaining them back is through becoming one with the one that sealed them to begin with.
Now imagine Traveler with space powers.
Asmoday is actually manipulating the traveller to do as she wishes.

My personal (crack) theory is somewhat similar except I theorized that asmoday suffered from power exhaustion after separating the twins, and decided to create Paimon to watch the travelers while she recovered. Except something went wrong, leaving Paimon without memories. Blank slate Paimon got rescued by traveler and eventually became BFFs, and now she loves traveler too much that she switched sides.
I've been thinking for awhile that there was just a hint of strain in the Unknown GodAsmoday's expression when she cubified Traveler. And at least in the case of Rukkhadevata, the exhaustion of power did indeed regress her to the size of a child. So I think this part of it is plausible.
Paimon emergency food looking like Traveler might fusion dance with her and become Traveler-Paimonday.
If we take this idea seriously, given how Rhinedottir merged with Naberius by "devouring" her, the whole emergency food thing is starting to look less like a joke.
But now I'm wondering in what sense the Shade of Space is "The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles".
I kinda feel this is what I would like the story to be, cause when it happened to Rukkhadevata it literally made a new whole ass person, it wasn't just Rukkhadevata but a kid, it made Nahida, so it would make sense if this means Paimon and Asmoday are two incarnations of the same being but so two completely different people.
IIRC Nahida was a deliberate creation by Rukkhadevata, it's just that the two happened to be identical after Rukkhadevata's reduction. Nahida now says she is missing memories from before the Cataclysm, but that's just part of papering over Rukkhadevata's removal from history.
So Asmoday is smurfing as a little fairy with the guy she had prevented from leaving.
I imagine that Asmoday lost her memories when she regresses to Paimon, and only recently starting to get her memories back through repeating dreams of the day she sealed Traveler.
At first, she stopped the twins on the Heavenly Principles' order, but as she travelled with the Traveller, she grew more attached and the feeling isn't gone even when she regains her memories.
story in sumeru portrayed it perfectly
tbh it was guessed paimon could have been more like Istaroth
Will be kind of curious to see why she went from launching us into the future to wanting to be our travel buddy.
What probably happened during the years that Aether was in cryogenic and Lumine was in Khaenri'ah was that the five sinners "killed" or weaken Asmoday. Making every other shade attack the whole country to avenge their comrade. The weakened Asmoday is probably Paimon. Losing her memories of her being a shade in the process. Paimon got no history in Teyvat before she met Aether. There's no one else of her species in the whole world. No history on her ancestors as well.
The one issue with this theory is that, Paimon was there when the Capitano/Ronova standoff happened. So unless there's some VPN wizardry involved, She should have known. But the conversation the Shades had made it seem like she knew the least about Asmoday's whereabouts.
But all other signs point to Paimon being Asmoday, so I'm not sure anymore tbh.
Huh, but didn't we see Asmoday spying on the twins in the latest AQ?
but Paimon wasn't there. and that's the point, we haven't seen both together in one scene
I'm still remaining doubtful since Asmoday was not welcoming towards the twins during the confrontation. So when the Traveler finds out that Paimon was the one who separated them from their sibling, how would that play out? Not to mention, Paimon was still affected by Dottore's soundwave contraption that apparently does not affect gods and is under the influence of Irminsul changes.
If one argues that Paimon is just Asmoday in a weakened form, how is she spying through the red portals? Was she just pretending all along?
Well physiological and mental regression did happen before. Happened with Guoba and Rulkhadevata. So it may have happened to asmoday. Who knows if Asmoday may have used too much of her powers after she sealed us. We didn't see much from her perspective after that happened.
It's possible, but it doesn't really explain the red portals. My interpretation is that they show up in the present time during the latest AQ, not 500 years ago, despite the location that the twins were in taking place in the past. The Abyss sibling was talking when they paused to look up at a certain direction. Then we see the red portals disappearing. So if Paimon is Asmoday in a regressed form, would she still have those powers?
I think from what we have seen of Paimon so far, she is very true to the Traveler and cares about them deeply. Traveler feels the same. To have Paimon later characterized as a potential liar does not sit right with me as some people are making it out to be.
The time paradox might have warped time to where it is occurring 500 years in thr past so Asmoday would be Paimon 500 years in the past and that is how Asmoday hears that they are leaving Teyvat and continues the loop, and inevitably leads to Paimon being his companion.
To have Paimon later characterized as a potential liar does not sit right with me as some people are making it out to be.
Paimon is probably just not lying she just doesnt remember. I still bet she got goabafied or same with Rukka. Lost memories and powers to the point she's totally a new person at this point
The thing with Rukkhadevata is despite having regressed, she was still considered a god. When Nahida was born, she was already designated as the new Dendro Archon.
Paimon was affected by the sound wave released by Dottore and that was stated to not affect gods, and Nahida was unaffected. Why was Paimon affected though if she is Asmoday's regressed form? When I mentioned that, someone implied that she was pretending. That doesn't fit Paimon's characterization.
Well, the regression can take many forms or be in varying degrees. Like, intelligence or the psyche can affect ability to hold memory and there is also mental regression like Guoba. Guoba forgot how to cook his recipes he knew before archon war happened and he used up his powers protecting them.
You know, the regression with memory loss could have been forcibly induced on Asmoday by Heavenly Principles. Was Asmoday sealing Traveler's powers and keeping them in Teyvat even within the "rules" set upon them and was it against or in favor of the Heavenely Principles wishes? I dont think so. Why would the Heavenly Principles allow the 4th descender to stay in teyvat and change fate. HP decides fate so it would be against them to have an external factor change the fate that the HP has placed on the world.
Asmoday may have went against HP's wishes and kept the Traveler in teyvat, leading her to go into hiding by erasing her memories and regressing her form.
I think that Asmoday could've switched sides due to seeing how unforgiving the HP is, and maybe doesn't like being a puppet and under ruling. So she looked to the twin she cast away, hoping that they'll usurp the throne and she can finally be free.
HP seem asleep and havent taken action at all and even the rulers seem limited in their capabilities so I wouldnt be surprised if she relaly switched sides.
teyvat is slowly going to shit several apocalypses were barely avoided so far.
What if Phanes was Traveler all along. That Phanes is Traveler from either the future or the past, maybe the future from a future where Traveler and twin are separated or the twin died.
Would be interesting how that plot point would play out. Asmoday following after Traveler probably to guide him to a better future than the one that HP created as a future version of Traveler. Like we got time shenanigans with A Time and Space for you, so imagine some time paradox of both present and future Travelers existing in the same time.
Well, the scene where Asmoday was spying on the twins did happen after Traveler went to Kharenri'ah 500 years ago, so it could be that it was past Asmoday who was spying on them and current day Asmoday was back at Natlan as Paimon during this encounter
If it was past Asmoday it might even be the catalyst for her sealing past Traveler after hearing the twins talking about the future, maybe she can't let that kind of information leave Teyvat and that's why she went to stop a set of twins since as far as she knew the two she overheard never left the past as she teleported away before seeing Lumine and Aether leaving Kharenri'ah
If New Khaenri'ah used Khaenri'ahn's memories as the basis to form, how could Asmoday show up in the past, assuming no one remembers her being there?
I bring this up because of the Abyss sibling's reaction. They show confusion and supposedly looked at the direction where the red portals was located. That, to me, made me believe that the Abyss sibling does not have Asmoday's presence in their memories at the exact instance when Direidyth hands the key to them.
Abyss sibling most likely contributed their memories into the Atlas along with all the other Khaenri'ahns who were performing rituals.
So to me, it's more likely that Asmoday showed up in the present and saw the twins reunited during this intersection of memories. I think it's interesting because right before we are shown the red portals, the Abyss sibling talks about needing to be on equal standing with the Heavenly Principles.
Didn't that scene happened in the past since it's when we give the key to Direidyth and that set into motion the events of the twins trying to flee during the Cataclysm? I am confused now
The Paimon theory slots into three avenues:
She IS Asmoday. They are never seen together in the same scene (that scene in the AQ takes place in the past) and the resemblance is somewhat striking.
She is a part of/born of Asmoday. Similar to how Venti is born of Istaroth, she is some element of the Shade of Space that has, for whatever reason, latched onto the Traveler.
She is the Heavenly Principles. It would explain the stark similarities between her and Istaroth (as well as the other Shades, now) whilst accounting for the differences. Also, with the Heavenly Principles slumbering, that can be addressed by Paimon's existence.
I think, like with Nahida before her, Paimon BEING Asmoday is a red herring – something they expect us to think with the very circumstantial evidence we have. In addition, there isn't any real example (in-game) of characters changing demonic names; Asmoday [for Asmodeus] and Paimon are both names from the Ars Goetia, which lends credence to the idea that they are two seperate beings.
We don't have the full picture, and Genshin's writers are 100% preying on us, Paimon's identity will not be something we can confirm with this little information.
Yeah they 100% want us to think it's Paimon either for it to be true and teased or bait. I'm leaning on bait.
We don't have the full picture, and Genshin's writers are 100% preying on us, Paimon's identity will not be something we can confirm with this little information.
It has also been (almost) 5 years, at some point they have to start building up to a reveal, otherwise it would just be out of nowhere.
They've been consistently building up to a reveal, hence why I am so confident that we don't know the answer BUT it is one of these three.
and Paimon wasn't there...
you literally answer your question... paimon is not on the scene.
So... Was Paimon pretending all along? When she fell for Dottore's soundwave contraption that cannot affect gods? She pretended to be under the influence of Irminsul changes? Yet she has the power to use those red portals?
Paimon is gonna beat Furina as the God of Acting
Yes.
And yet she does not think about how the Traveler will react if she reveals her identity. Sounds like a good plan.
No one has accused Paimon of being intelligent.
It's Paimon you are talking about. You think she thinks about anything after her food?
I'm talking about her as Asmoday though. 😭
If I understood that correctly (which I absolutely might not have), that was in the past. IE, five hundred years before Paimon met the Traveller.
I believe it happens in the present because the the twin noticed the red portals. There's a scene where they expressed confusion and looked up towards something. Then we see the red portals.
The question here is whether Asmodeus has the power to be above time. She can rule space, but I think that moving around time is above her. I'm sticking to the version that she was looking at events from the past.
The intersection of time and space in a recent quest may be a collaboration between two Shades, but I'm not sure at all - either it's a long-term plan created in the past, or something new based on future events.\ It's one thing to add an additional "anomaly key", another to be transported to location during cataclysm.
Based on the trailer and all game events, only Ronova holds on old and concervative views (Shade of Time - shenanigans since Inazuma; Shade of Life - sudden co-op with one of the sinners; Shade of Space - simply absent)
Perhaps the rest of the Shades are trying to somehow get out of control of the entire Teyvat system.\ Yes, they were created, but what if they realize that their existence has little meaning, outside direct orders?
I think that was Asmoday of 500 years ago like Direidyth.
Since shades are embodiement of those concepts (Life, Death, Time and Space) it is unlikely they are subject to them: there's no "Asmoday of 500 years ago", just "Asmoday". She can take a peek anytime anywhere.
Did we??? What quest? How did I miss this?
I'll copy and paste a previous comment.
So right after this dialogue in "A Space and Time Without You," Asmoday's red portals are seen disappearing. Traveler's Log notes this, saying "Unknown God's portals close."
(Traveler's Sibling): If I wish to speak with the Heavenly Principles as an equal, I will need the might of an entire world behind me.
(Traveler): ...
(Traveler's Sibling): ...
(Traveler's Sibling): ...?
Ohhh yes I remember that
Wait, my brain is not braining right now so I can't recall. Can you remind me when this is?

Thank you very much. Guess I just forgot about that cuz of the immediate cutscene afterwards.
Where? When??
It's when the Abyss twin was explaining their reasoning for doing everything. There was a moment of silence later and then the Abyss twin looked off to a distance, which we then see Asmoday's portals closing.
Miko somewhere in the distance: ‘right here, right now.’
Alllllles klar
I really think that Asmoday may be a red herring with Paimon.
Paimon, the demon, is a demon known for loyalty to lucifer - the betrayer that goes against heaven. E.g., Paimon is hyper loyal to the traveller as would be suggested by the name.
Asmodeus is always separate from Paimon and has a different appearance, meaning, and is a "king" in the same way as Paimon is a "king" in the various demonic tomes like the Ars Goetia. In fact, Paimon often outranks Asmodeus in the legions that follow him.
If the names are meant to have meaning, Paimon being something beyond the Phanes that is loyal to the traveller would make more sense with naming conventions. It would also explain Paimon's mixed symbology (the crown of Istaroth, the stars of Asmoday, the triquetra of Ronova, and the hair of Naberius)
Is there any chance this could still be a red herring?
Say...
Everyone thinks Asmoday = SoHP = Paimon, But Paimon could actually be HP herself (which has also been silent for a long time).
Asmoday as the "Sustainer of HP", is HP biggest supporter. And since HP as Paimon is with the Traveler, Asmoday is technically also on the Traveler's "side" as well.
Far-fetched, but I don't think it's completely impossible that HoYo could try to blindside us like this?
You are cooking, if this turns out to be true. I'll remember you...
The five artifact types are associated with Life, Death, Time, Space, Reason in that order. Paimon could be the lost shade of reason. Especially because she is wearing a crown.
SoHP?
Sustainer of Heavenly Principles aka Asmoday, Shade/Ruler of Space.
Ah, thanks
So many abbreviations in this game
True. I also have gut feeling that it's all red herring since this is too obvoius if it's true. And hoyo writers often like to make red herring here and there.
There are layers to this shit, Paimon is Gnostic lore is one of the most steadfast followers of Lucifer, the lightbringer
The Traveler in Fontaine Part 5 Baits Furina into letting go of her mission like Satan w/Jesus in the desert
The traveler befriends the Archons & calls them to his side as Satan does with his own legions of demons
Phanes severed the primordial energy of the world from one light, into 7
The Traveler could wield any aspect of energy in Teyvat whether Adepti power, Pneumosia, Nightsoul, elemental energy, etc
The Traveler is very, very much a Lucifer analogue.
We were introduced to the character as an angelic being that was casted out from the heavens and lost his/her wings
The Traveler is very often compared to, or even referred to, as a star, much like how one of Lucifer's epithets is the Morning Star.
The Traveler is almost always associated with Light. The character's main power, other than being able to wield multiple elements, is the power to dispel the Abyss. This is the power of the Light realm. Lucifer is also known as the Lightbringer.
And yes, during the arc that paid homage to Christianity, the Traveler tried to tempt the Jesus analog from fulfilling the divine mission of salvation and redemption.
And yes, our most trusted (read: most loyal) associate is a being named Paimon.
Edit: I forgot the biggest one. When we met Asmoday, she says to us "The Arrogation of Mankind ends here"
'Arrogation' is the baseless/unwarranted presumption/claiming of authority
That is quite literally what Lucifier did to God
And the Traveler's names are derived from luminiferous aether, the medium once believed to be responsible for transmitting light, a "light-bringer" of sorts.
Which is crazy because, in Gnosticism, it's pointed out that Lucifer is just kind of misguided. Not evil like in Christianity. He thinks he's doing the right thing, but is causing humanity's collective souls to suffer through earthly existence (or something to that effect). Makes you wonder what the Traveler's mistake is if we're going one to one.
The mistake is refusing the traditional Inazuma clothing to keep being slutty
Bro , you’re cooking with this one ☝️🗣️🗣️‼️
Makes a lot of sense to me. Notwithstanding the practical fanservicing for business purposes, I have recognized early on that the writing of genshin was well thought-out.
Interesting, from that perspective it sounds like the punishment the travelers were subjected to might have been for being god-like beings who tried to take control over the fate of mankind away from the predetermined purpose and fate that Phanes has gone to such great lengths to curate.
So like we know Travelers are basically the aeons and children of super god. And the powers on Teyvat basically are tiers lower than these gods. So basically Paimon's gonna beat up our enemies later right?
Just as gamers enjoy role playing and controlling genshin characters, so does the travelers and heavenly principles enjoy what's going on in Teyvat.
Still think paimon is not asmoday...just piece of her or part of her.
Anyway Ronova got so many fans on social...feels bad for the other shades
finally no more high pitch mascot following you around invisible/off-field.
This time after a certain main quest she transform into a women that actually follow you around on-field and auto-pick up loot in open world.
let me have my copium.
please.
auto-pick up loot
Sign me up please
Does master really describe what the Traveler is to Paimon though? This is the only thing that makes me doubt they are referring to Paimon.
For all they know, yes. It would be a strange thing to hint at if this random "new master" came out of nowhere if it wasn't referring to the Traveler. Also, the word "love" is particularly strong in this context. We know Paimon loves the Traveler more than anything. The Shades are the "shadow" of the Heavenly Principles, meaning they must be our oppositions by nature. If Asmoday were to "switch sides" as the Shades suggested, that would only mean she is someone who we'd likely be allies with or at least someone who has the same goal as us. All signs seem to point at Paimon.
..The real mystery would be why and how she ended up that way.
Look at how they address pierro gazing upon them. They act lke royals so yes in their eyes traveller looks like a master to paimon
Absolute Cinema
I think Paimon is going to be a fraction of Asmoday. Maybe her powers stuck in the body/mind of a very very young god. Like Nahida in a sense. Just not fully matured into her power.
I'm leaning more to Paimon being minified Phanes and Asmoday's Master is probably one of the Sinners that do whatever the fk they're doing rn. Like Surtalogi just looking to throw hands in a much bigger scale, Vedrfolnir has somehow reached "the end", and how the fk Rhinedottir is a Shade.
I agree, Paimon looks more like a mini phanes than Asmoday. Also, i think the sustainer is corrupted in some way, she might be more abyss or sinner, or maybe even dragon aligned than shade aligned.
There is one contraction to this theory. The 3 shades were actively scouring for her across her "spaces". If Asmoday really is Paimon then Ronova would've known where she was when she witnessed Capitano pay her price when Paimon and Traveler were there.
If Asmoday is concealing herself, Ronova may not have been able to sense her. She is the Shade of Space, maybe her Celestia power is sealed in another dimension.
Asmoday doesn't wear a crown like Paimon.......
But there is a character in a certain book who does...
Is it possible... That Ronova can be distracted?
With the 3rd thing being such an outrageous act that I wouldn't be surprised if she was absolutely livid on the inside... Thus resulting in her not even acknowledging or perhaps realising that a whole ass Descender + a mysterious Floating being was also right there...?
and in this video, she didn't even noticed she was being watched up until Istaroth told her about it. just like the title of the video, the Gods have limits.
Capitano gained and unmatched ammount of aura through that NGL.
TYPE SHIT! I'm liking the Paimon = Asmoday theory even more!
Well, its all but confirmed Istaroth and Venti are related too, but despite Venti being the FIRST archon Paimon met no suspicions were raised either.
So either Paimon's presence is being shielded from the Shades somehow, or that teh Shades know of Paimon AND that Asmoday has a new master she loves, but havent been able to relate that Paimon IS Asmoday
Maybe Istaroth knows and is covering for Asmoday. She’s the sibling that seems the least concerned about finding Asmoday.
I'll say two. Asmoday just spied on us in 5.7 confirming she is active.
But that's the past asmoday before she disappeared
That's just speculation no? for all we know it was actually the present.
Everyone is being misdirected.
"She just switched sides"
At no point in the story arc have we, the traveler, been directly against Celestia or the PO. Our story is one of investigating and searching for the truth. We've continually helped the archons who are suppose to be aligned to Celestia. The only group currently positioned in a direct confrontation with Celestia and the PO are the Fatui and our sibling.
I was thinking the same thing. Traveler was almost always against the Fatui and the Abyss. Not to say we are on the side of Heavenly Principles, but we are certainly not against them. I think Paimon is connected to HP but I don't believe she is Asmoday. Someone here mentioned the fifth shade of Reason, so who knows..
I've been inclined to think she's Phanes, but a 5th shade is equally plausable.
If it is the case, I wished they hadn't hinted so clearly at it but if not I think someone who commented on the video thread was right and it could be Colombina since she's fateful to the Tsaritsa
Paimon has the circlet though, which would make her the primordial one going by the artifacts?
I'm still convinced it's a red herring.
Ruler? As in... Herrscher? Herrscher of Void? The HoV allegations are never going to end
Asmoday legitimately just spied on us in 5.7, So I don't think Paimon is Asmoday herself.
But was that in the present or past? I forget
If Paimon does end up being Asmodey, I wonder how they'll explain her jumping the Traveler and their sibling at the start of the game. Is she traveling with Traveler because of that incident? Like, as a form of penace for trapping this innocent outlander and their sibling on Teyvat? Or did she lose her memory, unaware of her own status? There's so much potential here, man, I'm foaming at the mouth.
Ok so
Ruler of life naberius
Ruler of death ronova
Ruler of time istaroth
Ruler of space asmoday
So from the trailer, asmoday is missing. And if asmoday is paimon then paimon is ruler of space??
The same god who once sealed and seperated our twin is our travel guide, best friend, emergency food, our life?
Hold up, could it be that "switching sides" means asmoday who may be paimon now is now on her master's side 'traveler' who may or maynot have to defeat hp. Maybe paimon herself isn't asmoday but like some sort of seelie? Which asmoday uses to be with traveler while she herself is not in tevyat? (Don't take srsly)
The biggest surprise to me is that Amosday might be the rebellious one, not the most loyal Shade like we originally thought (this now seems to be the case with Ronova).
NOOOOOO I cannot see Asmoday the same way now. I dont care i am starting a hate campaign against this.
Bullshit. Paimon moved out of the way when raiden was about to execute the traveler. in a thousand animes.. a character takes the bullet or whatever..for someone else (sometimes even litteral children)!
And went down again, Paimon loves food above else, not us :[
Tbh I still think paimon is more likely the HP themselves, like they overextended themselves during the cataclysm and reverted into paimon, the shades saying they are "asleep" could mean dormant
Oh hello, Ordis
Susmon had always been sus
I mean we are descender, HP is also one, so her changing sides is not impossible. Probably see our twins journey and decided to help the new journey of other twin
What I would love to see is that paimon is a piece for asmoday as some of us suggested. Like if her memory and power were separated and became its own entity with the body turning into paimon.
It would play out like Paimon eventually find out the truth and runs away from the traveler to try to protect them from herself and ends up joining back with her other half.
Plot happens with the traveler and asmoday with the god about to end the traveler when the paimon resurfaces, finds a way to separate again to save the traveler, with this monologue
Asmoday: “you can’t fight what you are, you are a shade, you are the ruler of space. You. Are. Me”
Paimon: “no. Paimon is paimon”
I feel like this just rounds out her as her own person and is infinitely better than the “oh I wasn’t your friend, im the bbeg this whole time” trope.
At this rate we will come full circle and paimon will be absorbed by the traveller as emergency food to save their life and overcome the climatic final boss.
I'm not sure how much it matters but the spanish subtitles used "Maestra" for this, which specifically refers to the femenine version of Master, however I'm not able to check any other gendered language
From the "unknown Shade of HP" to the "New Moon" back to the "known Shade of HP"
I'm Ready for a mature Aoi Koga Character
A popular theory, one that I also believed in since 1.0 now official.
Kinda bummer they didn't save it for some sort of "Luke I am your father" reveal, but maybe because so many already suspected they didn't bother. Well the reveal will be still dramatic because the Traveler themselves still doesnt know.
"How about we explore the area ahead of us later?" Says the guardian of the "void" that is the out of bounds
Paimon is not asmoday , the game called "original god" in CN , and guess who is character at icon game launcher ? yes Paimon. Paimon is original god.
and who is asmoday master ? i think it is "2nd who came" who replaced original god (a.k.a paimon)
Paimon is original god that somehow lost her power
Genshin are Vision Holders.
I might be forgeting something that explains this but it seems unlikely that paimon's the shade since ronova seems to have no clue on the asmoday's whereabouts but has seen both the traveller and paimon
The only evidence that doesn't support this is the game itself states that Asmoday is "dying", but Paimon seems fine
Will paimon say that she was always the real genshin impact.
Does anyone have a good youtube video that goes over the story so far? I've searched and there's like 500 of them but what do you guys recommend? I've played this game since 1.0 and am still on the last Archon quest and I don't know anything about anything it seems. Maybe I need to pay attention more to the lore books.
Hope in later patches they give Paimon a much more fascination towards cubes or squares juuuust to add more to the allegations
At this point it would be more a twist for paimon to not be the asmoday
I'd give my entire life to protect that little sunshine of mine.
Ruler of Space, not Void
It’s too obvious a description for that to be Paimon. More likely Paimon is the “history” bestowed by istaroth. Or a theory my friend suggested, that Paimon is part of the HP, and her absence from celestia is what’s caused them to go “dormant.”
And then Paimon finally dies and we're free from her constant useless blabbering.
Everyone forgetting that hoyo legit confirmed Paimion isnt gonna turn against us
Asmoday she been with the MC all this time but what bout Asmoday cubes win MC met there twin? that might of been past cubes.
So here the theory timeline? MC and there twin was about to leave after Khaenri'ah fallen and they fought Asmoday who stop them after trapping one of the twins the controlled Asomoday glitched out and fallen from the sky and turn into Paimon without no memories?
leaving the shades Istaroth, Naberius and Ronova to wonder where did Asmoday go? so that win the line "Maybe she loves her new master more then herself" That win Istaroth, Naberius and Ronova realized Asmoday is Paimon dun dun dun traveller is not ready to know that Paimon is the the person they fought and lost and she been with them for a long time.
One of these AQ, they are gonna gaslight us just like the spaceship thing and the travelers gonna turn to paimon and say “remember when you where a shade before you lost your power?”
Yeah but her design is so different from Asmoday's. I mean even her eyes are a different color, the shades have golden eyes, Paimon has blue eyes. I still think she's an angel/seelie as that dragon from the little one quest implied, despite all the red herring hoyo's throwing at us. If anything I think Asmoday messed with the Abyss and got corrupted.
Wait what did I miss?
Waiting for the moment Paimon opens a portal to save the traveller.
Also, isn't the Hairclip shaped like her portals?
A nerfed version of a portal, or cubes would be a start.
From the animation today, it seems like the cubes are little reality marbles that contain micro universes. Maybe that concept is the basis for our Teapot’s technology?
I was wondering how deep you could go. Teyvat turns out to be a domain, then you enter bottleland which is a domain within that, then the tent inside bottleland which is a domain within that, then you put your teapot down and enter that, so now you are 4 domains deep already, lol.
Doma(In)ception
I was thinking that the entirety of teyvat is inside a cube, due to when Mavuika shattered the sky the fragment we saw had the same colors as the cubes. And how the “secret of the world” that the abyss twin wants us to find, is that this world is just one of many of the same. Because in the video, that tree really reminded me of the tree in mondstat with the statue of the seven(I forgot the name). So every cube is its own teyvat. Just my theory, prob wrong
There's this old theory connecting paimon with sustainer of HP (Asmoday) because during jade chamber explosion, there's single frame of ''cube'' in the explosion, and people connecting those with paimon=Asmoday theory
that's really old theory
Oh yeah there was really uncanny 4 pieces of cubes
There's also the triquetra that all shades (and Paimon) have. Naberius has it on her shoulder, Istaroth on her dress, Ronova has two on her hips and Paimon on her tummy.
ETA: pic for clarity: https://imgur.com/a/GNFpGbU
That shape isn't unique to Asmoday, though. It's also on Naberius (Back of the hood and similar shape where her sleeve splits on her right) and Istaroth (The adornment on her chest). I couldn't find it on Ronova
honestly a pretty generic star design
and one hoyo rly likes using (cuz eva)
I'm straight up imagining scene from Order of the Stick.
"You need to... escape."
poof
"...WHO STOLE MY KILLS?!"
It’s going to happen
it probably part of the symbolism that she regressed/lost her power = lost her stars
Are we supposed to ignore the "space" themed wings. And how she guides us away from out of bounds(limiting the space for the traveller to access). And her disappearing into space when we open and close Paimon menu. These might just look like some design choices, but we all know Hoyo loves to add Easter eggs ans references everywhere.
That is EXACTLY the thoughts that came to mind after theorising about this. This trailer made me rethink pretty much everything related to her that I never looked deeper before. On a game standpoint? Just basic mechanics. Lore-wise? Definitely something they deliberately chose to use, if Paimon=Asmoday turns out to be true
Traveller looks at her. Their face is a mixture of emotions, surprise, disappointment, anger, resentment, all converged, as Paimon's eyes turned bright yellow.
"..."
"... We'll talk about this later, Paimon..." the traveller says as they retreat from the scene.
Tribbie 🥲
Tribbe flashbacks are coming to me 😭
Bro about to say "See you tomorrow" then opens a portal for us to escape 😭
