...I kind of have a rant that just rolls in my head as background noise because this franchise has burned me into incoherence, so if I start, it just opens up sort of mid-rant: they didn't have the movies planned, which, wtf it's only one of the most beloved franchises in the world and yet it wasn't meticulously planned out? The only thing they seemed to care about was "making it rhyme" so that it echoed the original movies (which, seriously? one movie echoing the original trilogy, why should it speedrun like that?) so that meant the rebellion's victory against the empire was undone so Leia could be a rebel again, fighting a huge empire complete with a rehashed death star, and they even reused the familial father/son thing with Han Solo and Kylo Ren but without ever establishing any ties or deepening a connection of any sort because of course they couldn't when they were rushing the whole plot. The parts with Rey weren't actually bad 'cause they were establishing her harsh existence on Tatooine up until they get her onboard the Millenium Falcon and then they suddenly focus on pushing nostalgia buttons with Han and Chewie, which itself wouldn't have been bad if they had used that time to establish any kind of mentorship or relationship between Rey, Han, Finn or Chewie, but nooo, they had to have slapstick shenanigans instead. Finn gets so shafted in terms of storytelling and I have no clue why--they could have just merged Finn and Poe together and come out with a much better character and he wouldn't have had to have a "whee I'm not actually dead" bit which just removed some of the stakes of the flick. Finn and Rey could have had more of a relationship, oh, but that would get in the way of Kylo/Rey, and heaven forbid there be a love triangle or hell, even just a believable friendship on the side supporting Rey as she crushes on Sith dude. Rey's whole shtick about being so damn good at the Force without training could have worked if they had used the time in establishing who she was but as is it's completely unearned. She didn't have to be a Mary Sue but it's like they speedran her character arc right out of the plot. Kylo was actually fairly interesting until he takes his helmet off and then I just felt like someone needed to make him go home, do his homework, and then get to school on time. An emotionally unstable wreck as a villain is interesting--a whiny brat with daddy issues is not. And another thing--

Seriously, compare the American and Chinese posters for the Force Awakens, Finn is much smaller on the Chinese one.
It wasn't planed before first movie either.
It kind of was originally, but people completely missed the main reasons why the plan fell apart:
- Yes, this now almost forgotten indie film is primarily responsible for The Sequel Trilogy falling apart. Why? Because its director Colin Trevvarrow was Disney's original pick for directing Episode IX - after the huge success of Jurassic World. And whilst VII and VIII were in production, he had the time to make a much more low-key film. Unfortunately, it caused a humongous stink upon release and generated so much vile in the industry, that Colin was quietly dropped by Disney. That left them with the rushed decision to bring back JJ for IX, who ended up retconning most of the plot points that Rian Johnson had put in VIII to retcon things from VII. What a mess.
- Carrie Fisher's passing
This one unfortunately no-one could've prevented. VII was Han's film. VIII was Luke's. IX was clearly being set up for Leia's. And without her, JJ had to quickly cobble together a story from ideas that didn't really work without her in the picture.

At the start, the plan was 7 (if I remember right), after a few years we find out it was extended to 10, and this was before they came up with Nod Krai before Snezhnaya to take care of the lore loose ends.

LMAO, you don’t even know how many female characters Murase Ayumu has voiced already—there’s no way it wasn’t planned.
Or rather, if the other three regions' voice directors could find talent like him, Hoyoverse would’ve absolutely hired four male voice actors to voice Istaroth with female voices—just to shock the players.
Ayumu is well known for voicing androgenous/female characters, which is perfect for Venti, a femboy, which now also has to voice a female character that is directly related to Venti.
I know that there are more male VAs who are known for voicing female characters, but the only other example I know of would be Shouta Aoi (I learned of him when watching Symphogear AXZ)
The archons that missing the 2nd SQ were Anemo, Hydro and Pryro. And they were related to Time, Life and Death. Guess who showed up in this trailer?

The Sustainer/Unknown God's model was datamined back before launch years ago to be "Asmoday", and recently this patch, her name popped up again in the files but other than that, this is the first ever official confirmation.

Venti was a single thread of the thousand winds before he amassed power and rose to godhood. In Enkanomiya, where faith and belief in Istaroth is not lost to time, the phrases "the thousand winds of time" and "the thousand winds" are in reference to her and the power of wind. While in Mondstadt, where belief in Istaroth has been all but forgotten, they refer to the literal winds of the northern region of Teyvat.
The Thousand Winds Temple and Nameless Island both have preserved some of the worship of the "god of Time" though, carvings on the sundials in the temple and the island leave messages associated with both the god of Time and god of Anemo.
Short answer: Yes, Venti was originally a small part of Istaroth turned elemental spirit turned God.

Absolutely. Erika was born to play Venti, and we came incredibly close to losing the perfect performance.
I'm so glad we get to keep her as Venti and have her as Istaroth now.
Same. And I wonder if hearing from the pipeline that this was coming was one of the things that got her to come back. She very clearly loves the role of Venti and getting to voice him again plus getting to voice his "mother" or whatever Istaroth is to Venti must be so exciting. Considering she's the one who consistently gives more to the role than required, asking to sing the poems instead of going spoken word.
I know that either scenario (her finding out before rejoining or afterwards) was definitely exciting for her.
Considering that they sometimes post the Japanese dubbed version when at least one VA is missing it would bizarre if it happened with this video. People would start wondering who was the missing VA, since I believe only Pierro was a VA cast before the strike.

But has no one realised zhongli is equally sus as well? - one of the 7 original archons, just like venti, and he is the oldest - The NDA archon, keeping a ton of secrets (like venti). He also knows the tsaritsas plan and seems to be secretly supporting it. He, like venti, also gave his gnosis away too easily. And in the new trailer, it was mentioned that the ruler of space had "switched sides". Anyone see a connection here? - He uses cubes, hmmmm which other ruler also uses cubes? That's right. The ruler of space. Also, earth and space are deeply connected. And Zhongli was also the one that taught the adepti how to use subspace...
My theory is that zhongli, like venti (time) and egeria (life), is a creation of a shade, particularly the shade of space.

I believe there's nothing to talk about here. Every archon has titles beyond what they have control over as an element. Venti (Barbatos): Anemo archon, the god of wind and time. Zhongli (Rex lapis/Morax): Geo archon, the god of stone and contracts. Raiden Shogun/Ei (Beelzebul): Electro archon, the goddess of lightning and thunder. Nahida/Kusenali (Buer): Dendro archon, (the cutest by the way) the goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Focalors (Focalor): the Hydro archon, the goddess of water and Justice. Mavuika (Haborym): the goddess of war, and I don't remember if it was her or the Tsaritsa who had love in one of their things that they were the goddesses of... or I may remember completely wrong and none of them had love...

Can someone explain to me the connection between these two? The only thing I know about Shades is what was shown during Natlan and the Mondstadt Interlude. I know nothing of the hidden lore in weapon/artifact descriptions and stuff.
Venti used to be worshippped alongside the God of Time in Mondstadt (but then something happened and everyone in Mondstadt forget about the existence of the God of Time). In Venti's teaser trailer, he's described as a being a thread of the Thousands Winds of Time. Time and Wind have always been interconnected. If you look at Venti's burst during his skill (if you long press it), you will notice a clock (a reference to time) if you change the angle of the camera and stare at the ground. There is also a Temple of God of Time (now in ruins) in Mondstadt as well as that tiny Island that has to to with the God of time. Honestly, theres probably some more stuff, but this is the most important ones.

Barbato's Venti identity is pretty much built on copying other people and him feeling bad about stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if by default he has no voice whatsoever and so need to copy Ishtarot's to have one just like he copied the looks of the Nameless Bard

Venti was originally a wisp (fairy-sorta), genderless, and became a boy to honour his dead friend who died in the Rebellion against Decarabian.
That leaves Zhongli as the only male Archon.
