sorry for any mistranslations!
I wonder what's the context to the "this is why you must have an outline before writing a story" part
Acknowledging Genshin's longterm planning, also subtle shade at WuWa
Heh, shade
Underrated comment, there is no way i actually laughed on 2 words... Help
Not just WuWa... So many live service or long running manga/anime run into the problem of using up their story material then having to pull out complete bullshit from their asses.
Naruto Shippuden with Black Zetsu be like
Well in naruto's defence, it was never meant to be that long. It's popularity forced the mangaka to do it.
And he did do a fine job.
Fine is definitely debatable, with how he wrote himself into a corner with an undead and cheat code enabled Madara, leading into the asspull that is the "Kaguya, progenitor of Chakra", but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. I still look back at it fondly, so he definitely did something right
I'm lost, what issues did WuWa's story ran into?
the devs admitted themselves that the story was 90% rewritten from the beta test. to many people, including me, this just screams they have no confidence in their own writing.
Listening to feedback is important, but there is such a thing as listening too much.
However for fairness sake, I heard the story improves a lot since 2.0. Although it's still Gathering Wives.
Ah, I see. I was not there for the early days, I made my account and started when 2.0 dropped, and thus had a pretty coherent story experience
It's non-existence?
Ok, ok: It existed at a point, but the devs weren't confident on it and decided to pretty much scrape it on release – winging the rest as updates get released; It's a known joke that the "big bad" for WuWa got revealed in 1.0 and the entire main plot since then became a big "...now what?" while every new character simps for the MC.
I haven't felt this "now what", the story felt pretty coherent for me
We wake up and save the first region from the Threnodian and the Fracsidus -> Abby is awakened -> we go to the Black Shores because they're experts on the big bad and similat phenomena -> we go to Rinascita because they might understand what Abby is -> we learn more about the Threnodian and the Fracsidus
Everyone liking the MC? I guess that's more a gacha curse (happens a lot in Genshin, HSR and Zenless too) but the only people I've felt like Rover a lot were Jinshi, Cammellya, Shorekeeper, Carthethiya, Carlotta and Lupa
about Venti related to Istaroth. they pretty much acknowledged Genshin's writer as competent because they've been implanting this since released proven by Venti's demo trailer
Honestly their is alot of stuff even since the beta that remained true. Genshin plans ahead for a long long time.
You should have a road map so that you dont just backtrack or retcon something in the early chappter
Probably a jab at Infinite Nikki.
A lot of gacha game (heck, a lot of live service) lores are "let's just wing it and hope we figure out something later and just have a wide array of idea that goes nowhere".
In Genshin, although the way they do it often not perfect, but they have a proper core outline of lores that they want to tell. There are starting points and something i call a "spine" of idea that they can branch from. They have a great simple foundation that branch out into very interesting ideas over the time as game development progress.
This creates a sense of connectivity in lores, making it less of a "video game world" and more of "World in a video game".
Again, i think some of the presentation and the way they done some stuffs could he improved. But what i love about Genshin is that their lore are always felt connected to one another even if they start out scarce.
> There are starting points and something i call a "spine" of idea that they can branch from.
It's called stratified storytelling, which FGO did as well (there was that interview between Type-Moon and Hoyo before that mentioned this, the one that involved comparing Illya/Herc dynamic with that HSR robot duo). As an ex-FGO player, seeing the Travails trailer was very reminiscent of FGO's Arc 1 trailer. Or maybe even their Arc 2 trailer since that one has characters along with the chapters.
This kind of outlining is effective for a live service game with uncertain lifespans. Since it's not really certain how far the game will go, it's better to have something loosely planned out that you just fill in as time goes on. More flexibility that way as well while still having an overarching roadmap to follow through.
it is basically mocking another open world gacha who doesnt have a roadmap
the one with the waves?
I was thinking Infinity Nikki considering the shitshow that spawned in 1.5
(Even if a lot of WuWa's world building elements are kind of unintuitive and disjointed)
That Sea of Star stuff felt like it got rushed to be released at the same time as the Steam launch. 1.5 feels very much like they originally only have Serenity and maybe dying system planned, but SoS got pushed up.
If that was indeed the case, the SoS story might have been easier if it had some kinda introduction prior to it getting put in, but yeah... Just end up leaving way too much questions and nixing the entire old Stylist Guild part of the game.
They got hype moments and aura instead
True. Like taking environmental design as an example, yeah this scenery is very beautiful or just changing areas completely changes the sky, I get that. It's fun to watch, but why.
Like Genshin's environment team designs areas with a reason, like why it is like that or what happened there etc etc. I don't feel anything like that coming from Wuwa world
Fr. I still barely understand anything of main quests and I usually read carefully
Protagonist went somewhere for some reason, fixed a problem, got a wife and went to buy milk forgetting his new wife like he forgot the last 8. That's my understanding about the story so far.
No no...you got it completely correct.
1.X era of WuWa had me referring to the Wiki every few hours when I played the main story content.
The big difference between Genshin and Wuwa's world building that I felt was how hard it was to Intuit certain things in WuWa based on existing information. It's hard to make theories on various topics because things like Waveworn phenomena and the Threnodians vary a lot by nature. (The lament literally rewrote the laws of physics besides gravity)
Thankfully 2.X was noticeably better compared to 1.X in this regard and in its environmental storytelling.
(like how Rinascita's sentinel statue varies in appearance depending on which part of the map you go, foreshadowing what happened to them)
I like Wuwa but 1.X patches in terms of Lore and the Main quests were meh.
Rinascita has been really good in terms of story telling and drama. Particularly because of how localised the story and problem was.
To make things feel less aimless the Wuwa Devs will need to improve the "and then Vs because of" plot moving problem. The 1.X felt a lot like the former and that impression has stuck (hence the aimless feel). However with the first half of the 2.X cycle completed, we'll see if what follows feels like a lot of "and then" rather than "because of" plot.
I'm so shocked by this thread that people actually tried to read the story. I mean the skip button is right there!
Honestly, its an effective enough strategy.
People who bother coming to, and posting on a game's subreddit are already more dedicated than most players. And even then, you see a TON of very obvious lore skippers. Imagine how much the majority of the playerbase knows? Some of them might not even know what an Archon is.
So, instead of trying to write a satisfying story that most people would rather skip regardless, just invest all your budget into a couple aura farming cutscenes and farm CC reactions with them. "OMG WUWA HAVE STOPPED HOLDING BACK." "THIS IS WHAT PEAK GACHA STORY TELLING LOOKS LIKE" "I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED"
You'll struggle to cultivate an actually invested playerbase who digs into the game, but you'll get enough tourists here and there to maintain good revenue. Things might get dicey once some of the more hyped gachas drop and there's more of a fight for that less dedicated playerbase, but there's always a chance that those end up flopping anyway.
Lowkey, its kind of what HSR has been doing, and that game has generally been outperforming Genshin revenue wise very consistently. Its a strategy that works very well.
EDIT: Guys, I'm not saying I'm personally a fan of the strategy, I'm just saying that it rakes in the cash lol.
outperforming Genshin revenue wise very consistently
In iOS Apple store ranking. Since Hoyo is a private company, there's no publicly available revenue, only educated GUESS based on iOS ranking.
Meanwhile GI and ZZZ have been dominating Playstation store ranking since their debuts.
Your comment would make sense if it weren't for the fact that GI doubles the amount of revenue HSR receives.
HSR has some semblance of an endgame tho; that being an inevitable fight with Nanook, and whatever script Elio and his Stellaron Hunters are cooking. Whether it's as concrete as Genshin's roadmap is up for discussion, but HSR does have something to it's lore going on.
Those tourists won't be a faithful playerbase that likes the game and will jump to the next new thing. That's very bad on the long run. Even if they flop as you said, these players will hardly come back to a previous game because of how much they missed while playing another.
Also the reason why HSR makes as much or sometimes more money has nothing to do with this no lore all aura farming thing, its because of double banners.
Hence why I said "things might get dicey."
No, HSR it's not outperforming GI
1) you can check that sometimes GI is above HSR and viceverse on Mobile and GI can do that even when is losing JP numbers(Skirk sales are more bigger than Phainon sales in CN)
2) GI is completly outperforming HSR on PS, there's no comparition and GI has way more stable sales too and GI sales on PS are split between ps4/ps5 but still perform way better than HSR with only ps5
3) GI is out performing HSR even in the Epic Store(pc) on the top free to play sales and most played free to play games
4) GI has Xbox numbers, probably nothing crazy but still has some players there
Nope, wuwa doesn’t have a roadmap but it feels a little bit coherent, I think he is talking about Infinity Nikki where they directly retconned the beginning
Even as a Wuwa fan, I'm not invested in Solaris-3 as Teyvat, mainly because it feels like the writers are making stuff up as they go.
Frequencies, Dark Tide and Fleurdelys cinema are cool, but its different from years of buildup and theories being confirmed from Genshin
I was thinking the same thing. They copied a lot of things from Genshin, so why not a roadmap like the “Travail” trailer? It feels like they don’t know where they’re going and there’s nothing to look forward to in the long-term. There’s also no payoff like the “We will be reunited” quest which got released less than a year after Genshin’s launch. They should have had a big revelation like that by now.
They have no Travail trailer equivalent released? But do they release interludes to hype up future plots?
They have nothing forward-looking besides maybe a short teaser video they occasionally release for literally the next couple patches. Right now, we're in 2.4 and have absolutely no idea where the plot is going besides a vague area we'll check out in the future. Future nations are a complete mystery with no official teasers.
Because that's not the playerbase for stuff like that
One look at the WUWA community and you'll realize a lot of them, if not most of them are the Genshin players that jumped over to WUWA because they don't care about the story and world building, the ones asking for a skip button, the ones that look at patches like 5.6 and 5.7 and think "it looks mid" because they don't know what the things on the screen are, the content creators that cover it are the ones that have someone pilot their Genshin account so they only have to do pulls and artifact rolls, etc
They just want flashy lights and "aura farming", and that's fine, they don't get stuff like the Travail trailer because it's just not that type of game
That’s true, but I’m not wrong in saying that there’s nothing long-term to look forward to in WuWa. And because you say that WuWa players are fine with that, then said playerbase is fickle by nature.
It feels inevitable that WuWa’s players would jump to another game when coming out just like they did for Genshin, because that’s what they’re conditioned to do from these CCs. We can only wait and see what will happen when all of these other games come out.
Fair enough. //I love your profile.
The story is just different in wuwa, in Genshin we knew our goal is to find the sibling, in wuwa the opening got us drop off from space and that's it, beside rover lost their memory i have no idea what the goal is
Its like you should have the game story planned for years ahead, without massive adjustment that fuck up the early setting.
They learnt a lot from HI3 and GGZ. The amount of retconning is saddening
It's one of the reasons they don't do other forms of media anymore. HI3 had a ton of manga and VNs that explored a lot of world lore, but it really tied them down in terms of what decisions they could make, and they were forced to retcon some stuff to push the story ahead.
It's also probably why the Genshin manga stopped so quick in the first year itself. Granted, that Ufotable anime is still up in the air, but it's Ufotable (and le Demon Slayer, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Genshin manga is actually completed, it's just the official localization that didn't finish the last few chapters for reasons I don't know. You can find fan translations on various manga websites.
Btw I love how Collei the cinnamon roll is one of the few characters who have on-screen kills of multiple people lol, the manga is great.
gating important part of the story through multiple different media is peak stupidity tbh. Certainly it sounded hype like " we're going to do some rad cross media shit" but in reality it really doesn't work that well because most people may be interested by one piece of media but not the other.
At least Genshin manga is more like a spin off so not reading it doesn't affect your understanding of the main story, but when I started Honkai I was asking question because I felt like I was pushed from a plane without a parachute and people just tell me "but that explained in whatever manga" well shit, if only the game would provide at least a link, maybe that would have been useful...
The way they’re pointing out all the little details like Istaroth-Venti and the artifact set relation to shades & primordial one (reason/logos) seems to me that they’re praising how intricately woven in the details are from having a strong vision or outline of the story/lore/worldbuilding
possibily a jab to certain open world gacha games that basically have no story except gathering waifu
This reminds me what I heard was the supposed spaceship reveal at the opening in the early beta builds of Genshin; my guess is that they rewrote the opening to what it is today not because they scrapped it, but because they wanted to hold on to the fact, only dropping it when they think it is right. Whether or not the latest AQ is the right spot to drop it, IDK, that's likely up for discussion among the fanbase.
Wish they dropped hints to it earlier.
Tbf, they did, but only in hindsight. The meteorite Dain mentioned was the spaceship. If you think about it, the Traveler waking up from a rock would be weird, but since it's fantasy and all, none of us thought much of it.
Dain could have said "shining metal meteorite" instead to drop more hints
They did in 1.4
i think it’s just a meme line that came out since there’s a lot of stuff that happened with other games related to retcons or weird/shitty stories in general
It's just a general statement that plotting out your story instead of just winging it as you go will usually bound to be more interesting
That one game's not beating the AEW allegations anytime soon.
Yeah, I'm also curious about that since they commented the same thing in 5.7 trailer.
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story.
Seeing all of the hints they’ve been dropping starts to connect and stories coming in to fruition is so satisfying.
Hoyo is doing a good job honestly, there are certain stuff they can improve but overall is pretty good and now we gonna get more lore in the main story and not only in the books, artifacts, etc is a good change too
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story.
New Genshin slogan
I'm not much of a literature guy, but it genuinely seems that what they've done is very underrated. Before 1.0 they must've had, at least, the basic sketches for the next 6 or 7 years. The game itself was a pretty big bet by Mihoyo, nobody would blame them if they got surprised by their own success and only then started working on an outline, but 2 months after release they were already making lore drops (the Unreconciled Stars event)
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story!
Or, you can just wing it, write yourself into a corner and go 10+ years without finishing the series you'd said would be "done by 2015 at the latest."
(Yes, this is a George R.R Martin callout).
Honestly this is the reason why I don't really mind the idea of the game getting lengthened by one more year, cause the situation really could be so much worse
Jokes aside, I'm actually sure Martin's problem was that he told D&D the outline and they messed up the execution so hard he felt unwilling to write the rest out
That is probably the biggest reason for his current writer's block. He has a good outline for the end, but the TV show fumbled its execution it poisoned the outline so he had to re-examine it and have increased pressure to execute it perfectly to discarded the current discourse around it.
Idk it feels like he has an outline and intends to stick to it, but he's added so many things in the books that he has no idea HOW to tie everything together.
ASOIAF went off schedule even before the ending debacle
nah dude by that point he was years behind schedule. at most the D&D situation was the final nail in the coffin, but anyone with realistic expectation knew that at tha point seeing Book 6 and 7 was almost impossible and that was 6-7 years ago, and it had been like 7 years since the last book at that point and he had like 7-8 years before the show got to the end.
And then there's Robert Jordan. He began his Wheel of Time series in 1990, projecting it to be only a trilogy. 12 volumes later in 2007, he dropped dead leaving it unfinished with roughly one gazillion loose ends. Brandon Sanderson finished it off for him in three volumes.
While ASOIAF got started around the same time, and GRRM was slower to release installments overall, he at least has the excuse that the $20 billion or however much they paid him to license the series was too much of a distraction. Jordan simply couldn't control his narrative, I think.
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story

This is basically why ppl love One piece so much, a worldbuilding that has been cooking for 25 years and a lot of stuff that was set up decades ago started taking form no so long ago, the satisfaction is insane.
Ms chatgpt 😭😭
CN never stops cooking with name lol
The actual chinese characters are Miss Deepseek, but localisation happened in the translations lol.
Even better then lamo
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THOUGHT ABOUT THE CHROMOSOME THING
SO she's packing a huge lore bomb down there?
Is that a huge lore bomb or are you just happy to see me?
The artists will decide on that one
😭😭😭
Since Rhinedottir was a master alchemist, and this fusion with a shade that is outwardly female, if Rhinedottir was originally male could this imply he succeeded in creating a Rebis?
Probably reading too much into it, I dunno.
from what little i know, rhinedottir means 'daughter of rhine'.
you could be right though, she might've changed her name after eating naberius' heart, since its said that the hexenzirkel is a circle of witches and mages, and it's not specified if it's a female only group. plus, most of her creations are male, which could be because having a (previously) male anatomy allowed her to experiment on herself, so she might've been more familiar with the effects of alchemy on males rather than females.
she's also one of the five sinners of khaenri'ah, out of whom vedrfolnir and surtalogi are confirmed as males, hroptatyr is another name of odin (male god in worse mythology), and rerir is also male in norse mythology. so it's possible that she too might've once been male
She's a boy mommy 💅🙂↔️
it's weird for naberius as her twin tho, cuz naberius is a girl mommy 🤲🕊️
I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to be chromosomes. I think it's a triquetra on the naberius eye and a double helix on rhinedottir's eye (representing Celestia and life). Sex chromosomes would be random and kinda comical lol.
basic education patch is real. the amount of misinformation spreading since yesterday... baffling
Legit...some people were calling Pierro a young Capitano. I FUCKING CAN'T!
Young. lmao
>Are you going to switch sides if Apep human form is a hot mommy?
HOW COULD I FORGET SOMETHING SO OBVIOUS HOLY
😳😳😳😳😳
if they drop a Sovereigns Teaser, and they reveal that some Sovereigns are Hot Mommies, then i'll glaze both Celestia and Sovereigns.
She might be the first Dendro tall female character... in version 10.x
Damn "Basic education patch" for lore that couldn't be more true.
“Genshin 101” for mfs who skipped through the story in… a game where 50% of it is story… its a story game
After seeing the comments I'm no longer surprised why the devs have Nod Krai aka the basic education patch
Lore enthusiasts looking at people who didn't know the shades are female let alone the Shades are even a thing lol. I was surprised people still didn't know about them atp. Seeing people get baffled by what I think is common knowledge is always interesting in an amusing way
Not knowing Naberius I would understand because she is not mentioned as much as the other 3, but I've seen some CCs that don't even know Ronova and Istaroth like come on 😭
Some of them don't even play the game man. I know of some who watched the trailer after ignoring genshin for 3 years and only started giving a shit.
Says something when i don't even play the game, but just tune into some lore content. Just funny how that ends up as these things are also pretty standard to Hoyo.
They're probs not into it haha. If they liked the story, they'll probs continue watching vids but some of them have detached themselves from playing it. It's funny because they crap on hoyo games but end up making content about it eventually haha.
The Ronova one really gets me since it is so recent and such a big deal. It was the first time that we had knowingly seen a manifestation of a shade. Yet I saw people unsure who that was.
Yeah with Istaroth, at least, it’s been awhile since she’s been mentioned, but people have no excuse for not knowing about Ronova. She was name dropped throughout the Natlan AQ, you know the most recent story quest, and literally appeared at the end and was responsible for Capitano’s fate by the end of it
The only one I wasn’t 100% sure was female was Naberius, but yeah I’m shocked any didn’t know at least Istaroth and Renova were female.
Her heart was eaten by Rhinedottir and that's how they fused, it's not a crazy assumption to say she's (at least) now female
Ronova has been the most in our faces as she directly appeared in the AQ. There’s no forgiving those who missed her.
For Asmoday, I can understand that people might not know the name (since it’s technically only been officially confirmed recently), but if you show them a picture of Asmoday and them not knowing she is a shade, is kind of them not paying attention to lore atp.
Istaroth people maybe forgot about, because everyone apparently hates Inazuma’s story and so likely skipped Raiden’s 2nd story quest (ironically the most lore heavy story quest in Inazuma). That or they couldn’t have bothered to remember Istaroth being name dropped in the quest. Tbf, only us lore players would’ve cared at the time.
Naberius is the only super obscure shade, but anyone who explored Fontaine’s underwater regions and done Remuria’s world quests would have found out about her. Oh yeah, and the Heart of Naberius was indeed mentioned in Albedo’s story 4 since his release (1.2), but this is also an extremely obscure lore piece that only really makes sense as of Paralogism.
So yeah, this is exactly why Nod Krai is a thing; most people only skim through the main story at best, and so they really need things spelt out for them.
Absolutely hated that Asmoday's name was treated as if it wasn't leaked information here. Very minor part of it, but absolutely no one avoiding story leaks should've known her name until now.
We literally had Albedo talking how His mommy devoured another mommy.
Like it's not even been two fuckin months brother.
Did you…not read what I wrote? Please, read it again:
“but this is also an extremely obscure lore piece that only really makes sense as of Paralogism”
Yknow, Paralogism? The quest you are in fact referring to in which Albedo talks about Naberius?
Geez, some people accuse me of not comprehending the story when they can’t comprehend a reddit comment.
I was adding into your comment what the fuck you saying here bub?
I'm currently judging r/fatuiHQ Fatui glazers and genshin haters, that don't even know basic lore and common sense. Not even paying attention to the AQ even tho the answer is already right under their noses. They're currently burning ronova to the stake for making the Khan reans(don't know spelling) Immortals. Didn't pay attention to aq (if I remember correctly) where it said that khanreans are tainted by the abyss . So if theyre absorbed by the leylines. The abyss would ravaged the leylines and bring forth the destruction of teyvat through the leylines (From what I've seen and heard)
Yeah, this is what i thought too, My guess is what Ronova did is more of a damage control since all souls go home in the ley line so if the corrupted khaenrians die, they will contaminate the ley lines and endanger the entire teyvat. So to prevent it, she cast the curse of immortality to the destruction of ley lines and the whole teyvat.
The only one to actually blame here is King Irmin but those in r/FatuiHQ overlook his action and just blame Ronova.
Dumbass glazers
It's way worse than that, there's people watching the video and unironically asking who is Asmoday.
Regarding Asmoday, it is first time her name is mentioned in Genshin. Earlier this name was datamined in files.
Well sure but they actively slapped the sustainer on screen while saying her name, I feel like they couldn't have made it more obvious
They show every shade in the book, then show the Sustainer , saying "space has no reason". Then, every other shade appears, and they comment "Asmoday" is missing. This is not a problem of not knowing lore, this is a problem of basic text interpretation skills.
There’s quite a lot of Genshin players that seem to lack basic reasoning skills while simultaneously complaining that Paimon spells out everything for us.
Not trying to be rude, isn't Asmoday missing since that what other Shades said. 🧐
That's... What I said, yes. I worded it a bit weird.
If its just the name if its fine. Asmoday was never mentioned anywhere else in the game.
even though it still makes no sense since the name was said while Sustainer was shown
They show the sustainer of heavenly principles as the lady shade, this tells us she's the shade of space, she's the only shade missing from the meeting when they start talking about her using her name, sustainer = shade of space = Asmoday
This trailer is the first time the name "Asmoday" has been officially used by HoYo. What's the problem?
Very basic interpretation skills. We saw Ronova directly talk to Naberius/Rhinedottir and Istaroth, so it shouldn't be hard to link the last name mentioned to the one Shade that the others are talking about for not being present in the scene people are watching.
You are expecting basic reading comprehension skill from genshin players lol
Very true unfortunately.
Even when it said directly with a picture. Somehow some people really can't connect the dot. Idk if I should be disappointed or scared.
Very true.
Tbh, if wasn't for some lore-lover I randomly found on Reddit, I would never have understood who this Asmoday was.
"this is why you must have an outline before writing a story!"
Couldn't agree more tbh; writing some fiction before, it's better plot-wise and to make presenting your story easier.
I am waiting to see Chinese people translating this post and posting on bilibili so they can react to our reactions of their reactions (real though people do need nod krai cuz how many ppl dont know the loredrops in narzissenkreuz 大师还在蒸!Also pls rosmarinuyume 大佬 pls update for narzissenkreuz fanfiction pls pls pls)
also for columbina is ai post the first reply states ' ah got it ms deepseek' not chatgpt
im waiting to watch their video i have access to bilibili but no account :(
if they do translate this post i'll send you the link lol
Thanks for the translation efforts! Although I would like to correct one thing related to the translation- 天理 should be Heavenly Principles (the god), not Celestia (location).
I can safely conclude that Venti is indeed the Anemo Archon
Lore skipper take fr fr
Yeah, everyone knows Venti is actually the Herrscher of Wind and an emanator of Aha!
Emanator of Eh-he.
This last comment about Nod Krai, good (?) to know that China has the same literacy problem that we have.
The gacha games curse spreads to all
Pretty sure they're joking, but their usename translates to "(suffering from) insomnia (for) 365 days," which I suppose highlights the detrimental effects of sleep deprivation.
this is why you must have an outline before writing a story! good to know they having the side switch simping over there too lmao =w=
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story
Damn, playable Apep when? Get these folks to see the greatness of the dragons. Not these usurpers
Honestly like just given how much lore Genshin tucks away in stuff like weapon descriptions and long world quests I can't really fault folks that much for being lost as fuck on some of this
Well i understand the celestia lore as we never had that in archon quests, but ronova literally appeared in the natlan finale and people are gonna ignore that, even rhindotter/naberius was mentioned in the paralogism quest. If they did not pay attention even after doing the quest, its not the games fault thats why we are getting the basic education patch before Snezhnaya or else people will still be ignorant of the lore
Are people ignoring that Ronova appeared in game, or are they questioning why she now appears as a (conventionally attractive) woman when we've only seen her as a giant mass of eyes in the sky?
There's a distinction here I feel worth pointing out, as we've already got plenty of beings with non-human forms (or even lacking a form entirely) still using human-sounding voices.
Or put another way, was there a reasonable assumption that we'd see them all in human form when you've kept up with the lore?
If we assume the HP ist human. Than It makes sense, that they are also human as their shades. And we knew that Asmoday is human from the begining. We just did no her name and had no conformation she was a shade. But there were hints.
That time hoyo put one of the biggest lore drops for a while in a wings description that isn't even accessible for everyone
Honestly. While it's not that hard to access, it still feels like a tedious pain in the ASS to actually read up on artefact lore ingame. I'd rather deal with the fandom wiki to read the exact same text than reading it ingame.
Edit: which also isn't helped by the fact that in order to read artefact sets in-game, you'll actually need to get them ingame. Which can oftentimes mean spending Resin on artefacts that none of your characters need
sure, i also never switch sides. totally not because ronova, yeah, believe me guys.
Is the Rhinedottir eyes being xy chromosomes comment mistranslated or is this their version of the “she has homophobia 💔” joke
i’m pretty sure it’s just a comment that wants to highlight how the details ties with the ruler of Life design.
It's just an observation, her eyes have an X and an upside down Y, the rest of her design has some DNA elements so her eyes might indeed represent chromosomes
there are differences between not knowing the shade, and think gold is a guy and pierro is captain. Fist part is understandable, second part? better appoint a CT brain scan lol
Why would you translate Ms. Deepseek as Ms. Chatgpt...
on the comment over Naberius/Gold’s eyes, its a really neat detail for the Shade of life to literally have a theme around, well, life. Her version of the cubes are DNA grids and obviously her eyes being XY chromosomes.
Another detail I kinda thought of was with Istaroth and her windchime-esque corona, looking at Venti’s original/wind spirit form is what basically is a windchime doll.
This is why you must have an outline before writing a story!
are you gonna switch sides again if apep turns out to be a hot mommy?
I felt that. Absolutely spot on and deservedly so. That said, I really loved the silhouette we saw in the desert. She looked badass
CN bros are hilarious, I love many of these comments 😂
So...basically same behavior as us. Some simp for Shades while others call them out. Venti and Istaroth VAs. Paimon=Asmodey theories.
We might as well put CN Bilibili reaction to breathing at this point
Also the bro talk lamo
They're more hyped for Istaroth and Venti huh
Can someone explain to me what the meaning from comment on pic 5? I dont understand
most of the most popular games in china (so MMOs and MOBA games) are popular because the players play the game more as a social activity between friends/partners, rather than because of actual interest in the game itself (which would be genshin).
Ms. ChatGPT/Ms. Deepseek 🤣 I love it.
"This is why you must have an outline before writing a story." If only more writers understood this.
Damn even in CN you can never escape Asmoday=Paimon. Are people actually reading the lore and looking at Paimon's design??
the thing they are linking is.
asmoday has found new master and love them more then herself
paimon has some similar aesthetics to asmoday, and shes the one traveller meets before starting the journey and helps him/her.
so paimon = asmoday.
I call that bullshit. i think shes some sort of fragment of celestia fallen from up above to teyvat and due to fate got saved by traveller and now is part of traveller by which current sibling travellar has the ability to change the fate of teyvat.
There are more differences than similarities, the hairstyle alone tells me people are pushing it.
Paimon has a huge triquetra, Asmoday has no clear triquetra design.
Paimon has spiky sides hairstyle, Asmoday has one huge ahoge. Where is Paimon's huge ahoge?
Paimon has Celestia golden decorations, Asmoday has none.
Paimon has dark blue eyes with no patterns, Asmoday has golden eyes with star logo.
Paimon has hair accessories, Asmoday has none.
Paimon has a crown, Asmoday has none. Paimon has more in common with Istaroth design-wise.
Paimon moves when we control time in-game, Asmody is literally Shade of Space. Space. Last I check Space is not Time.
Paimon's colors have more in common with Istaroth and OG Naberius. One has to be blind to match Paimon with Asmoday.
Basically, I don't know what believers of Asmoday=Paimon are holding on but there are more differences than similarities. Paimon has more chances being Phanes himself if not a mini/sleeping version.
Also if people are pushing Asmoday having a new master, Abyss sibling had more in common since they are almost always associated with Asmoday's cubes and colors.
Bro now we can't even trust venti. Its just a matter of time
okay but when were we trusting venti and for what ?
Its just a matter of time
Cyno approves.
basic education patch 😭
Reading ABC patch. A for Asmoday.
B for Barbeloth
C FOR CAPTI oh wait need to hold off the copium. C for Copium
Columbina 👍
D for Dragon Sovereigns.
E for Enkanomiya
F for "Father"
G for GENSH—
H for "Heavenly Principles" (All hail the heavenly principles)
The irony that we really do need elaboration on GENSHIN. Does it mean 'God Origin' as in the Vision holders and their potential to become gods, or is it 'Origin God' as in Phanes and their Impact on Teyvat?
I love these bilibili translations, because it kind of just shows that deep down, we're all the fucking same.
Lore skippers getting different harbingers mixed up, not knowing who is what, insane switch ups once they reveal hot anime girls, shit posts, Paimon theories, global saying "Hoyo only listens to CN," Cn saying "Hoyo only listens to global."
Ironic how people calling Nod Krai will be a filler arc, while Hoyo probably cooking it as the prologue of main plot.
And so far it seems to be the right decision by Hoyo. A whole major patch ironing out the plot and lore before the final showdown
Yeah it's gonna be the spoon-feeding full course meal patch (which I appreciate even as a lore enjoyer because they've been way to much on the crumbs side for a while which built anticipation but leaves much to be desired for the main quests). However I fully expect that a good portion of the fanbase will not be "educated" and at the start of 7.0 we're still going to be clearing up things that were clearly explained in the early 6.X patches.
Yeah, unfortunately we all know the reputation of Genshin players. Maybie listening to the lore willnhelp
