Hyperbole but yeah it'd take a lot to level up to 200
It's about a 20% increase in xp between 130-140 and 140-150. I can guess that lvl 200 would take over 2 million exp to achieve
They could, ironically, just pull a Halo move and have level 198 be the XP halfway mark to level 200.
Dare I say a scull like helmet would even fit in the game. We have holograms, and the lore reason could be as simple as instilling fear in the enemy.

The current halfway mark to 150 is level 106, so I think they would make 150 halfway to 200.

If you've ever played Diablo 2 and hit level like 92, it's shorter than the slog from 92-99. I feel it.
More than that it is projected to be around 2.5 or 2.8m xp

dude I'm like over lvl 300-400 at this point but it does take a ridiculous amount of XP (for context I have 6936839 xp)
The funniest part is that wouldn't be even out of common with how the ranks are ordered
Not only the Helldivers have a mix of Navy, Army and Air Force ranks, but, you get to be Fleet Admiral in like level 80 or something, and then, you go from there "up" to lower ranks.
It would be nice if they prorated levels based on current xp. As they did when they first introduced the max level jump to 150 a few months after release.
I've used super sheriff since it came out but I would drop it in a heartbeat and only use Master Chief forever.

I know they need to keep models similar height in game but I do like how in his little teaser he is very clearly taller than fishticks
They already called the extract ship a pelican, and they even have a similar appearance. I imagine they didn't want to push their luck against a huge franchise like Halo
Sure, but "Master Chief" is a real rank across multiple militaries. It shouldn't be a problem any more than Sergeant would be pushing luck against any other fictional military IPs.
My mother in law is a retired master chief so this bugged me even as a die hard Sony gamer

Tons of people, including myself up until now, have no idea that "master chief" is an actual military rank. They tend to just think of the guy from Halo whenever they hear that.

Keeping master chief could be seen as just a coincidence. But if they intentionally break the pattern on master chief then it becomes an intentional nod.

Are you suggesting that Halo isn't one of the best known video game franchises in the world? It's the #1 Xbox "exclusive" and has novels, a television series, and the acclaimed Red Vs. Blue series which had millions of weekly viewers.

I have been a 150 Assault Infantry for too long now. Fits my game style. I play a supporting role while squad runs around doing objectives. Kill, Kill, Kill...hey where did you go, wait for me!

I’d rather that XP roll over into a currency that can be spent on unique stratagems. APC or tank destroyer from HD1, trident equipped beam weaponry, etc.
This way you can show off and be useful.
Well if theyre attempting to follow modern mil conventions Sarge is 1 pip, and Master Sarge is 3 pips. Chief is 1 pip, so Master Chief should be 3 pips and a higher rank than Space Chief Prime.
There's actually a chance they could use Master Chief now, if it was because of licence issues
Master Chief is a real way to address a Master Chief Petty Officer. There is no need to license it.
You could argue that Boss is a normal word, but try and name your company after it and see how fast you get sued off Hugo boss for use of name
