Honestly when I was a new player I was given a mech and thought it was kinda meh honestly I had way more fun messing around with jetpacks. I also remember that when I started Factory striders where new and I remember encountering one and it being scary as hell.
I got downvoted to hell for suggesting they add a level allowance slider for hosts to decide if they want high levels joining their lower difficulty games. Can be off by default even
Kind of gives away the game why you’d be be mad at people being given this option. Almost like maybe you’re not a saint and actually kind of just the kid that wants to show off on the playground with your toys.
Anyway, I have a feeling that sentiment will change a bit in a month and a half and some xbox players will be getting annoyed with this and feel robbed of their sense of progress.
This would just result in que times being all wacky due to conflicting level selections on top of 10 levels of difficulty.
Eh, make it a preference that it ignores if you struggle to find games. That's how it already works with difficulty anyway, you can get put in a different difficulty to the one you selected using quick play.
They’ll just turn up the difficulty until they hit a point where the team struggles a bit. No different than why no one stayed in 5 or below for more than a minute. 6s and 7s will probably be show off central, and newbies can push up to 8/9/10 when they’re ready for a sweaty game
This is a poor take, limiting matchmaking in any way at the moment would be detrimental to the game.
I don't see how offering new players an opportunity to try higher tiered strats or equipment to see how they feel is "robbing their sense of progress"? They'll likely want to try to see if they like it, it's not like vets will be bringing in full load outs for these newbies. It's over exaggerated.
Cadets, do you like it when you are given a mech? Does it happen too often? I try helpdive sometimes and i do not know these things
This is specifically about the flood of helpdivers that will happen after 26th August. I don't think anyone is complaining now but you can imagine every game being filled with lvl 150 just giving you mechs all the time.
That's not a reality though. Every game, vets will be forcing mechs upon newbies? Like what? Haha.
Every game is obv an exaggeration but it can become a lot if too many games vets come in with mechs, and ping them to let you try it even though you've tried it many times already and kinda just want to try out your new guns and stratagems.
Everyone's different but honestly I don't like vehicles.
Getting to try out support weapons and backpacks when I was new was really cool, but I didn't care about the mechs and the mechdivers really, really wanted me to care. Yes I saw you ping it the last 5 times, I don't want to drive a tank man.

The mechs need to be better. Almost no one brings them on D10 unless they are bored.
I try to use them, but it seems like here lately they get blown up before they even hit the ground or the pelican shows up empty handed and just hovers there.
Save them for extract to hold the line
Before it was patched out someone joined my game and used the infinite stratagem bug to call down like 10 mechs then got mad when no one wanted to use them

I feel this way about the FRV. Except it's my legs I wanna use not my new weapons.
What i like to do is I'll tell them I'll stay at extraction for the preparation of defense, then I'll just call in bunch of EATs and Commando.
I totally get why you dont want to use mechs
But if you do not bring a support gun or backpack. PLEASE take the one I am offering you. Its free and there is no downside in taking it. At worst I can take take it from you again if I got killed and lost mine. Please just take it.

As an incoming cadet this is what I’d be down for. I’m all for getting to play with the big kid toys but I’d still like to be treated as a member of the team

When I meet newer player, I often offer this. One dude was super grateful. He tested like 10 primaries during our time together. Each deployment started with a homicide. It was hilarious.
You’ll unlock nearly everything in a few hours of gameplay. Everything in Helldivers is a sidegrade. The very first strategems you get are viable choices in a loadout, with the machine gun being a top tier choice in at least 1 battlefield.
The Helldivers who’ve played a long time have either mastered tons of tricks with a great deal of weapons or are true masters of a small handful of them.
