Civil War, where America splits into two factions and a group of war journalists is trying to get across the country. I really liked it, but I have a journalism degree so I was ok with only seeing hints of the actual war and the focus being on their journey and what they document.
In this scene the guy asks “What kind of American are you?” very casually, but the journalists are unarmed and there’s an open grave behind the dude full of bodies so clearly the journalists have wandered across something they shouldn’t have and he’s just playing with them before he kills them.
He shoots the ones who say they’re from other countries and then gets killed himself when another journalist runs him over with a van.
I thought this would make a good meme because you expect him to decide only one type of player is worthy but they’re all worthy of being Helldivers.

Really the one of the biggest criticisms of the movie is that while it’s trying to be as realistic and gritty as it wants to be, it ends up being just another generic action movie by the end, featuring unrealistic military engagements as set pieces rather than how they would actually play out.
Also, California and Texas, who are two historical politically opposed states somehow deciding they need to unite so they can execute the President is completely unrealistic, not to mention that combined, they represent only about 20% of the American population and 23% of the GDP.

Civil war aka the most disappointing movie ever. Trailer hyped it up so much, with this specific scene, but movie itself werent about actual US Civil war that people wanted xD
People wanted: Texas NRA guys vs Cali liberals
People got: No explanation, just Texas and Cali teamed up and civil war started for some unexplained reason. And only this scene fucks hard.

I liked the movie, but I have a journalism degree so I was ok with the path they took. It was creepy seeing downed attack helicopters in mall parking lots, all the aftermath of things, but I can see how it would have been disappointing for those expecting more of the war itself.
The sound design was amazing, though, and added so much to the mood during gun fights. Some people joked they came out of that theater with PTSD. I might have been one of them.

I think that people were just expecting what The Boys were doing in Season 4. satire on current US political polarization. Like rednecks vs liberals, etc. Basically a Helldivers, killing "wrong side" civilians while yelling "For Democracy", etc. 2 hours of war crimes against people with different political opinion, etc. And specifically people wanted this movie to be aftermath of 2024 elections, Republicans vs Democrats.
And yeah, sure noone expected journalist route.

I loved this movie, I was ok with being left in the dark on what the war was actually about, only seeing how different areas reacted and small little details about how fucked the U.S. is (things like Canadian dollars being stable while U.S. dollars are hyper inflated). My favorite part was how anytime someone died while the journalists were recording their deaths would be broken up into photos, including the ending.

Yeah I think a lot of people expected a movie about the conflict. Where we got a movie about journalists trying to break a big story and make some sense of the conflict. I thought the movie was brilliant.
I understand the complaints about the movie not really explaining anything about the war itself.

I couldn’t find the new one in the meme maker I was using so I figured no one would mind the classic. 😄
This scene was so fucked.
