NJ: Woke up this morning to see this. We had heavy rain and thunder last night though didn’t expect this.
Can I fix this fence by myself or do I need to hire a professional company? Also should I contact homeowners insurance since the branch came from a tree between my neighbor and my house?
Sure you can. Do you want to?
We don't know if you're knowledgeable enough or properly equipped to fix a fence. We're strangers on Reddit who have never met you and who have not examined the fence. You are far better able to answer your question than we are.
I would just leave it
if this is like my fancy it comes in sections you can buy a new section and just take off the old one and put on a new one
Is this a fence piece that is easily able to be purchased?
DO NOT CONTACT INSURANCE. It would be your homeowners insurance and the repair would be less than your deductible but would count as a claim - your rates will go up or they may drop you all together. Only use homeowners insurance for catastrophic claims $$$
If it was my fence I would try to fix it myself. A little leverage with a crowbar or maybe that branch that did in the first place (lol) and bend it back. I think you will be able to get it pretty close to back to pre branch.
I purchase insurance -- but when I need/could use insurance it's not a good idea because they will cancel me or my rates will go way up. Interesting convoluted situation.
Look at car jacks/other jacks. Be sure you health insurance is paid. Maybe just purchase a section.
Yes, and your insurance probably has a 2k deductible or more. Do not use it for less than 2K damage. Do not use it for 3K damage where your insurance might pay you 1K but raise your rates because of the claim. This is just the current sad reality of homeowners insurance...do not use it unless they are going to cover 10K plus.
and never call your insurance for advice - they will note everything you say and count it as a claim and jack your rates.
Fence is still fencing. Branch isn’t branching anymore though. Remove branch and continue with life.
Just guessing this fence is some sort of hollow material to have bent that much from a smallish branch, likely if you turn it over, put a board against it and hit it with a sledgehammer, it will bend back.
Depends on the height that branch fell from…
Bonus if you fashion a "board" and "sledgehammer" from the tree that fell on it.
Thought that was a given.
Replace the 1 panel and be done with it, you’ll never get it back like it was.
Try a car jack under the mid point of the fence and see if you can lever it back. It's worth a try. You may need to insert a 2 x 4 between the fence rails to keep it parallel.
Is the fence still fencing?
id try straightening it with a car floor jack underneath, but i have a floor jack and im a weird DIY guy
Put a car jack under it and start jacking it back up. Then play around with blocks of wood and so forth and you can probably get it pretty straight.
If you’re asking, then clearly, you can’t do it yourself.
Just park a junk car in front of it to hide the damage
Use Google earth next time it may be clearer shot
My phone doesn't zoom enough but I THINK the fence has a tree limb on it.
How would we know your skill level ?
Looks kinda cool with thet bend. Run with it.
some person with little knowledge and money might drag the tree limb off in the woods, grab a jack out of his car and Jack up the bent portion of the fence taking care not to break the ends off. then go on about his day.

I can’t really tell the extent of the damage. Get the tree off of there and see how bad it is. If it just sunk down into the ground and maintained it structural integrity, you should be able to take care of it yourself.
Do you have the skill set and tools to fix that fence is the question. A skilled metal fabricator would probably be able to. An accountant probably not.
WHAT? why would you not hire a professional to fix your fence? ..
Now if you are looking to kill a lot of time... Who ever fixes your fence, ask them to leave the damaged section behind. Now you have a new hobby and you can find out if it's fixable
Can you get that piece/section replaced? Id check on buying a replacement piece… but Id first try my hand at repairing it.
Gonna cost a fortune for that what in the forgiveness sake
Can you please take a picture from further away so we can see the damage less clearly?
