With Archer coming to everyone soon, and HSR fans (who aren't into fate not knowing who he is), I just wanted to share this cute fan art of one of the most wholesome things Archer did in his life.

Archer hates himself because of what he has to do as a Counter Guardian. To “save” other Shirou’s from making his mistake, Archer tries to make them give up on following heroic ideals/dreams or kill them.
It’s why Archer seems oddly supportive in the Heaven’s Feel route, since Shirou decides Sakura is more important to him than the ideals/dreams.

I haven't caught up in the story (started for Fate), but from what I've seen Phainon's story is very Archer codes.
(I mean there were probably similar stories made earlier, and in between that could have acted as a more accurate influence but SHUSH)

That's Hakuno, protagonist of Fate/EXTRA series. Which consists of 5 games (if you count the upcoming remake) and 1 anime series (which is not an adaptation of any of those games).

The anime Fate/Extra Last Encore is quite controversial amongs the fandom and not new player friendly since it's a pseudo-sequel to the game, takes place after a certain bad ending.
Definitely start from the game, but these days it might be difficult because it's a PSP game and is not available in any modern platform.
Either find a way to emulate it or just watch a playthrough from youtube. You can also wait for the remake Fate/EXTRA Record, which supposed to be releasing this year, althought we haven't received any news for quite a while...
Playing the game is hard, Fate Extra is translated the sequel Fate Extra CCC (best game imo) is not and the spin off fate extella is translated. I played Fate Etra using an emulator. The remake for fate extra is coming out this year. Fate Extra CCC all route is fully translated on YouTube.
Personally for me the anime is massive fanservice for Nero fans and story is not the best compare to Fate Extra and Fate Extra CCC, which imo are the best Fate story in the franchise. It also requires a level of knowledge of Nero route in Fate Extra. I also highly recommend if it’s too much reading because there’s multiple path for Fate Extra CCC— Gilgamesh route is amazing and my favorite version of Gilgamesh.

That depends. Nasu has said in UBW that eventually Shirou and Rin break up and Shirou becomes the Heroic Spirit Emiya. She is not successful in saving him, but he did lead a happier life.
Unless you mean the non-canon "Good" end where Saber somehow sticks around.
No, no, you got it wrong. What he said was that there is a chance that Shirou becomes Emiya, but that chance is so low that you don't even need to count them. Archer is more likely a result of Saber route normal ending or similar to it where he was not able to save Sabers heart. And no, Saber route Shirou is not an Archer, he will eventually reach Avalon.

Fate lore is relatively simple. Fate Grand Order on the other hand is the true rabbit hole

Remember, EMIYA does end up in the FGO universe eventually. Which, despite it's dire circumstances, is basically a vacation for him where he gets to hang out with friends and family, cook all he likes, generally only get involved in shenanigans, mentor young heroes, and not have to kill people simply because the Counter Force says so.

That goes for all summoned heroic spirits (except a few cases). The OG resides in the Throne of Heroes outside spacetime, and the summons are copies of the OG which after death return their experiences as like books to the OG in the Throne. Its kinda like object oriented programming, from one Class, you instance X amount of Objects.
The difference is that Archer is a guardian, his main body is always being summoned by alaya

Archer's story is so heartbreaking. His ideals were unattainable, sure, but his heart is pure and he just wants to help everyone he can see.

Eventually, he would be tied to the noose because he would be associated with crimes he never did. All he ever wanted to be was a Hero of Justice. Alaya fulfilled that by turning him into a Counter Guardian, where he would apply Kiritusugu's kill one to save a thousand philosophy. Because he killed over and over, the realization his ideals drove him to this, finally broke him.
Not to sound racist but why does Emiya's skin continue to get darker? In this photo, he still has a light completion.

I agree with the eye color and white hair part but theres an explanation for why EMIYA got taller which is stated in Fate/EXTRA.
Its because when he was still young he used his magic circuits incorrectly by transforming his nerves into circuits, halting his growth however after awhile he stopped that method and got ridiculously tall
Fate also just randomly likes to mess with skin tone with alter/CG versions of their characters. Some characters just go up or down a couple of tones when they make new versions of them.
Yes, kinda. His skin gets darker with excessive use of magic, though at that point in the picture he's not EMIYA(Archer) but Shirou Emiya. Archer is one of the many possibilities that he can become.
There also is an Emiya Alter. He's a version gone way too far into the deep end that he can't even remember his past as Shirou, among many other things. When he tries to go back to being Shirou he fails. If Archer is a worn down machine then this guy is a machine barely holding itself together yet still doing what it was made to do.
As you can see in the image he's way darker than even EMIYA(Archer) and in each of his ascensions he gets more and more golden scars/cracks in his skin
Iirc, I thought the cracks in Alter's skin was him slowly wrapping back into being the Shirou he used to be, which meant his identity was literally falling apart and is barely being held together as his ascension state went higher.

It is, but this version of Shirou discarded everything about himself as a Counter Guardian, up to and including his past. I'm more surprised he hasn't had a cessation of existence crisis on the same level of Jeanne Alter Santa Lily.
It would be pointless anyway. If he ever redeemed himself, that part of him would immediately try to destroy his saint graph from within.
I love how Emiya Alter's Noble Phantasm is just a fucked up, broken version of Unlimited Blade Works. Instead of creating a Reality Marble with his workshop of unlimited swords he's seen in his life, he fires a bullet (which already is a contradiction of his Sword Origin) comprised of his Reality Marble, making all the swords he's seen burst from within. He doesn't even call it like he used to, instead it's now Unlimited Lost Works.

Emiya overuses his projection magecraft for years, causing his magic circuits or nervous system to become fried. It's also the same reason why he has white hair.
Lore reason: Magic circuit overuse.
Personal addition: he spent a lot of time traveling which would mean he was in the sun a lot
Out of lore reason: to hide the twist of his identity in the original VN+it is a cool design
In the lore of the Nasuverse, the way Magecraft works is that it also still follows the scientific laws of exchange and such. And the reason why Emiya's skin became so dark compared to his younger self is because of his over use of his own magic circuits from constantly using his Tracing spells that it is basically burning up his body, literally making it so that his body is like being burnt up and hair becoming ash

How is that a dumb reason? Just like sun tanning skin can change color, magic circuits constantly frying someone's body could also change that. Except it's permanent and seeps deeper than first few layers of skin, being magical and all.
It's also why there are many cases of people going overboard with their magic and having their hair turn white.
Next take bro will write is that people from Okinawa having a darker skin than then mainland is dumb too, lol.

You probably don't want him to be near any battlefield that you are involved in, since it's more likely that he will turn around and eradicate your side. That's the entire reason why he's betrayed, since he doesn't really hold any loyalty to any factions and just keeps saving people regardless of the side.
