You're the chosen one where the 10mm returns back to you after seeing the world.

Are you sure there is oil in the car? That looks suspiciously clean for a rover.

How much time did you spend looking for it at the time? I hate when I lose stuff in the abyss. I spend way too much time trying to find it. Worst part is not knowing if it’s going to be somewhere that will cause damage.

I’m terrible, if they don’t drop right on the floor they’re history. I’ve lost wire cutters, a 1/4 ratchet and a light literally in the last 2 months. Snap on man loves me.

sim_lad

How do you lose those, I mean a socket, sure, but wire cutters?

NoPie6564 OP

Zip tying some wires on the subframe, put the cutters on the subframe and didn’t realise till I needed them again the next day. Gone and not local. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I had that happen with my wife strippers/cutters. Left them on a sub frame got distracted and forgot them. A month later the car came back for a service and damn things were still setting right where I had left them.

That makes sense, I was thinking you dropped them in the engine bay or something. This makes a lot more sense haha

The 10mm distribution system works in mysterious ways. Hopefully you cleaned it up and gave it a good forever home?

and how, good and noble sir, would one do that? The 'good home' part, I mean. These are such a wanton and wandering breed after all.

I always slap the undertray when I cant find a socket that I drop . If it bounces its worth dropping to retreive .

Big_Profession_2218

ok, so I did not see the socket at all first minute of looking at that photo and tried to figure out if I missed some sort of "undressing the Rover" kink

I found an Matco 18mm 12pt shallow this way. This is the better find.

Same thing happened to me on a Northstar Cadillac. It was a Snap On 10mm 1/4" drive socket. Doing the rear bank plugs and dropped it when reassembling. It fell on top of the transmission but I couldn't see it anywhere. Not sure if it was years but was at least many months, working on it again for something else and I found it. It was just riding around for thousands of miles.

I once found a 9/16 combination wrench on the running board of an old van I had worked on previously. That was a fun little surprise.

did some rear shocks on an f150 for my uncle, a few months later (probably at least 6-8) he brought it to me for a differential service and i found a magnet LED light i had been looking like for STILL magnetized to the underside of the truck bed from when i did the shocks, it was barely noticeable because it was covered in dirt due to the fact he lives on a dirt road 😂

If you love something, let it go. It it loves you, it will come back. Proof that 10mm's love us, they're just confused.

You have been visited by the socket of good fortune. Usually, this is a sign of good fortune. But, since you're working on a Range Rover, I wouldn't be too sure.

I dunno what's more impressive - finding the socket, the dry under tray, or the fact that a Range Rover still functions after years of not having the tray off.

That's so sweet.
You should share a steak with it and then tuck it into an oil blanket to rest up a while.

Damn that thing is so happy to see you again it's pathetic.
