Okay a lot to unpack here.
First 3 seconds is pretty much normal from the last episode.
4 second mark you see Bobby with a smart phone with Connie and Joseph.
At around the 5 second mark, you see Kahn yelling at Minh. Minh looks very angry, while walking Doggie. Possibly insinuating a divorce occurred?
6 second mark you see an older Bobby with his uncle Good Hank. GH seems to be about 5 to 6 years old.
7 second mark, Nancy goes with John Redcorn. Begs the question what John Redcorn's family/kid and his relationship with Charlene (Candi) and if the affair is back on.
9 to 11 second mark, Hill's move away. We see an older Joseph and Connie say goodbye to Bobby. Bill is crying.
12 second mark we see the person who moves in to the Hill house. Booda Sack is a good guess. My guess is a new character.
13 second mark Bill gets COVID and steps away.
14 second mark everyone social distancing and wearing a mask.
15 second mark we see a new woman and child. Boomhauer walks off with them with his arm on her back. Might be wife and stepson?
16 second mark we see Dale EDIT: Nancy more likely; run for mayor. Very interesting since he was so anti-government.
20 second mark we see the Hill's return.
Very interested in seeing how they explain everything.
Vote Gribble for Mayor doesn't necessarily mean Dale. It very well could be Nancy. She's campaigned before and Dale has been very supportive. Could be either one
Great point. We've seen her thirst for power before and that Dale and Joseph were the main reasons it's not showing. Now that they're older, they're not as exhausting for her?
Likely Nacy running for Mayor which would open so many fun Dale episodes
Boomhauers wife looks to be the Canadian he met!
So much info.
Boomhauer has might have a son.
Bill absolutely got covid.
Maybe even longer term complications because he's out for minute.
The Hills moved out for at LEAST a few years.
The new guy that moved into the Hill's house seems cool enough to drink with the guys.
G.H. and Didi came to visit.
Dale wore a mask under his nose (Of course.)
Dale ran for Mayor. Someone with the last name 'Gribble' ran for Mayor, potentially Nancy as well.
Joseph is still very supportive of his Father.
They removed the telephone/electric pole from the yard.
Judge and his team have been working on this since at least 2018 and the recent Beavis and Butthead revival is absolutely choice. (Do yourself a favor and watch Beavis and Butthead watch Cardi B.) Absolutely excited.
Not sure if that’s boomhauers son or if he’s just dating a woman with a kid.
The kid seems a little on the old side.
Wouldnt be shocking for Boomhauer to have an older kid he didn't know about.
Could go either way.
Boomhauer may be a sleaze but if he found out he had a kid, he would take responsibility right away.
Am I high? How does adult Bobby have GH on his shoulders then is a kid afterward? When the Hills move out is that GH getting on the shuttle with them? What the?
There’s some stuff I love about the intro.
It uses the same exact music as the original, which makes sense cuz you can’t improve on perfection.
Having it be a time lapse from the original timeline to the revivial’s timeline was a clever touch.
Seeing Bobby grown up.
The reference to the pandemic, and the fact that Dale doesn’t wear his mask properly and Bill was the first to catch COVID.
That brief moment where Connie and Joseph were saying goodbye to Bobby, as well as Bill crying after Hank and Peggy moved away as well, which was bittersweet.
As much as seeing everyone grow, age, and move on with their lives makes me feel old as fuck, I’m pretty damn excited to see how everything unfolds in August.
Putting the powerlines underground haha, it's an odd touch
I dunno about everyone else, but I’m gonna miss that pole. Added some character to the alley.
I actually like the idea of Hank going away for a while. Mike Judge has always been a satirist who's success owes to cutting through the bullshit and holding up a mirror of what real people think. King's original run was subtle about it but never afraid to offer sharp criticism of small-town southern culture.
You can't succeed here if you refuse to acknowledge the elephant in the room. Hank being away for a while is a great excuse to let him personally sidestep big changes. Come back as a more worldly version of himself that like the show hasn't had to be personally involved in the trip from back then to today.
I'll give them this, no revival has gotten my interest in the last couple of years as much as this intro did. It's kinda cool they filled in some gaps and created some interesting questions that can bring great ideas for episodes in the series as flashbacks
I do hope we get SOME Cotton Hill though. I know the character died, but dreams and flashbacks are still a narrative element that can bring his character back, if only for a couple of laughs
Dale's mayoral campaign ends with only four people voting for him. Since he knows Joseph did, that means either Hank, Nancy, Bill, or Boomhauer did not.
"Was it you Hank, was it you who sold me out?"
Dale, you didn't even vote for yourself.
"Hank, you know I'm not registered to vote. I would never give the government my information."
Then how were you going to be mayor?
"I'm not part of the system Hank. You are. Now did you vote for me or not?"
It looks like the Hills move away for a period of time and then come back. That'll be interesting. That also gives a nice reason for the main characters to need a little more exposition, and to get reacquainted with the neighborhood and it's changes just like us.
That's what I find wild, why did they move? Hank loved that house
Because Hank glazed Buck more than anything else. If Buck said "i need you to move for work" then Hank would be on the nxt flight.
Used to watch king of the hill with my dad. He would have turned 60 today. And would have been stoked that they were bringing it back. Glad they dropped the trailer on his birthday.
🥹 aw i love this for you. This is how i feel about Survivor bringing back contestants from 25 years ago that id watch and root for with my mom. The little reminders are so special ✨
Man you got me shedding a tear. That’s beautiful man, I’m sorry for your loss
Wow, I can't imagine a better teaser trailer. The nostalgia of the original intro and theme but using it the catch us up on everything that happened between the original series and the new season. They packed a bunch of little hints to what has happened and what will be happening in the new season without giving anything away or showing too much. Couldn't really ask for anything better, honestly.
I like that a bunch of unexpected stuff happened and shifted things. That's how life works, and KOTH is usually pretty good at representing this. It's interesting that Chane is gonna be a more prominent character, maybe he's less of a dick and now Bobby, Connie, Joseph, and Chane are the crew
Oh man I just saw this and there's definitely a lot that has happened.
The new neighbor that moved in and started hanging out with the guys got me really curious.
And I couldn't believe Hank sold the house he once said he was going to pass down to Bobby. I know in the intro he moves back but just surprised he sold in the first place.
Since Bobby is still being voiced by Pamela Adlon even though he's an adult, and he's blond, and this is basically an American Anime, does that mean Bobby is the Naruto of King Of The Hill?
Or the Goku or the Luffy.
I don't love the trend, I like it when actors can resume their roles but it never felt great having musclebound anime characters sound like elderly japanese women.
Bobby is slightly more appropriate but it's still jarring.
I am thinking they kept the house in Rainey St when they moved and rented it out and then decided to move back. Hank probably got a job with Texas Propane Association and had to move to Austin or Dallas. I could be totally wrong just happy to have the show back!
Im suprised Hank still looks the same. Aside from the grey hair coming in. I thought he wouldve went full white or something seeing how stressed he seemed most of the time in the original series.
I also noticed boomhauer has a wife and kid. ( or stepkid) Good for him either way. finally left his bachelor life behind.
Dale wearing his mask the wrong way is just perfect Dale. Also we see Bill coughing too, what are the chances Dale got a mild case of COVID and gave it to Bill who got a severe case?
I didn’t originally catch that DeeDee and GH were in the intro. Seeing Bobby act as a father/big brother figure to his child uncle would be a fun dynamic.
I want to see more of the lessons his monk spirit will teach 🤗 I am so excited Bobby is coming back!
Apparently Bobby works as a chef at a Japanese/german BBQ restaurant. It’d be great if they show Bobby spending time in Japan with his uncle. Maybe picking up some Japanese or continuing to practice Buddhism. Seemed like a real missed opportunity in the original series
Please don’t shit on me, but this has literally brought back so many happy emotions… 🥹 Dammit, I’m here at work hardly working but getting teary eyed 😭
There is some information that people might be interested in inside this article:
https://www.vulture.com/article/king-of-the-hill-reboot-revival-preview-interview-bobby-release-date.html
Like confirming that the Hills did move out like some people have asked and wondered about.
Based on how Bobby looks, and what they're saying his career will be, and how he looked in some of the other promo materials, I feel like the entirety of King Of The Hill was just an origin story for Guy Fieri
Watching for like the 4th time, I notice Joseph giving Bobby a “take him off the ground” bear hug as they head to the airport, and oh my god that’s adorable.
Hold up, the woman that comes up with the boy during the COVID timeline looks to have Boomhauer’s eyes to some degree, I wonder if they’ll be some plot line that he finds out he has a son or something… or maybe I’m just reading too far into this. Lots of Easter eggs here.
It shows that we have gone beyond parody when even Dale, who used to be an exaggeration of a conspiracy theorist is still sane enough to social distance and atleast pretend to wear a mask (although it's such a Dale move to just keep it down around your chin lol)
Dale is a conspiracy nut, but he wasn't a terrible person. He never wanted to hurt anyone...unless that person was a bug or a government agent
Well he can be terrible when he wants to be (like when he was going to drain Hanks blood to cure his rabies or when he pressed charges against Hank and said he was a maniac that chopped off his finger in a fit of violent rage) but it's true he usually turns around by the end, and deep down he does have a very good and caring heart.
Also I'll give him a pass for the blood draining one since he was basically feral and on psychedelic mushrooms at that point lol
However, you can see that by the later part of the pandemic he is no longer wearing a mask.
I had the biggest grin on my face while watching this. King of the Hill was always my favourite of the Fox animated sitcoms back in the day, and I'm so glad to finally see it in motion again.
My theory of why Hank moved out is buck gave him a job as manager of a different Strickland propane branch.
Maybe he was then allowed to manage the Arlen one and move back at some point.
Hank would never leave that house unless it was a big opportunity like that.
Having Hank move away and come back is brilliant.
It’s unexpected (which makes it feel realistic) and it allows Hank to feel way more generational divide. He probably feels so out of touch with what America is now.
I imagine hank is the type of guy that works past retirement age. It would be interesting to see him work a job outside of propane. Im sure at first he would be annoyed about it.
How does everyone feel about Kahn and Minh splitting up? Personally, it doesn't make sense. They probably have the healthiest relationship out of all the couples on the show. The only way I could see it happening is if one of them had an affair or something.
Is it weird that I'm slightly emotional seeing Bobby grown up? I think it's because I started watching KOTH around 12 (Bobby's age), so it's just a reminder of time past. Also, Bobby's a good lad so it's just good to see him succeed.
Another Dale > Hunter S. Thompson reference with his failed political run? Dale previously mentions wanting to be fired out of a cannon for his funeral, something Thompson had done with his ashes.
Catching this on my second watch of the intro, Dale puts a campaign sign in Hank's lawn and Hank throws it away instead of taking out the garbage. Genius.
Even better, he puts a sign on the telephone pole, but then a utilities truck comes and removes the entire pole, so he puts a little sign on the lawn after lmao
That guy replacing Hank in the alley that small bit feels like it could be Booda Sack renting the house to me. He even has the Strickland colored shirt on!
No Luanne or Lucky in the opening (I appreciate that Brittney and Tom have passed away). Wonder how they'll tackle that.
I don't know why I shed a tear when I saw this, it's like old friends coming back that you haven't seen in forever. I'm sure if my dad were still here, him and I would be trying to see who can do the better Hank impression while we watch
It's cool to see all the stuff that happened in between but now I'm curious as to who the guy that moved into their old house is and if he's gonna be part of the gang still.
Maybe I'm weird, but seeing Nancy still getting in the vehicle with John Redcorn annoys me.
Looks like it's in the "before time"
Anything before the shuttle comes looks like it's intended to be original era imo
Maybe but just prior we see an older G.H. who was either a newborn or not born when the affair ended
It moves fast, but Dale wearing his mask as a chin diaper is brilliant.
Also, blink and you'll miss Bobby waving to GH as Didi carries him, and Joseph giving Bobby a huge hug when he leaves for college that lifts him off the ground.
This just confirms that Bobby really was the glue that held the trio together; Joseph and Connie parting ways without him tracks with friendships like that.
Hank just let some dude move in his house for a while? woah 🤔, he must've really trusted the guy
That’s Didi and GH! Look at ol’ Dale wearing his mask wrong, hilarious he’s decided to run for mayor!
This makes me kinda sad, I feel like I missed out on everything. I'm so excited to see the new season though, I can't wait.
Dale ran for mayor just to get the electrical pole removed. Calling it!
Alright. Y'all watched the intro. What's going to be the first "BWAHH" in almost 15 years??
I think Bobby is a charcoal chef, so the first "bwah" might be Bobby giving hank a charcoal steak and hank liking it, then Bobby reveals its charcoal
Damn...did covid kill Bill? Boomhauer has a baby mamma? Cottons wife has hank 3? Black man moved into the Hills home?
I'm SO Glad to see that They HAVEN'T Forgotten about G.H. Hill;
and that He's being aged up as well;
I Can't wait to see how GH gets along with Gracie
I love how this subreddit has different topics devoted to just a few seconds of this clip.
gonna have to rewatch the OG KITH before August
I find it so strange MACK, I suppose, were being shitty about using thier logo on Dale's hat...like, I imagine they were asking for a ridiculous amount of money?
It's FREE advertisement!
Bill isn’t dead. We saw him in the earlier poster for the new show. Everyone needs to relax.
i really hope the animation isn't uncannily smooth and bouncy like a lot of adult animated shows are recently.
Seeing Didi actually take care of GH and Bobby handing him of to her really warmed my heart for some reason.
im so seated. but also did i miss it or does the intro not show the new guy moving out of the hill house lmfaooo
Cuz he probably didn't and if Hank and Peggy are basically renting in their old house there's gonna be so many funny things actually
Like Hank's conservatism causing drama with his housemate.
Watching another man touch his old lawn and not having the same say about it anymore 💀
Antics like that.
Am I imagining things or does the woman with the kid resemble the one Boomhauer pined over
kinda scared of the animation at the end there. reminds me of the new type of animation they do for shows likes mr birchum, i forgot the name.
but I'm still very excited for this. especially with Nancy going off with john again, does dale still not know??
The animations changes a decent amount in the original 13 seasons as well, I'm not too concerned with them.
It's the characters and subjects that get me the most.
That guy that moved in to hanks house kinda looks like Budda Sach, but he looks too old and tall to be him. Might be a new character.
Bill being the first to cough before Covid is perfectly on brand
I'm willing to bet Dale caught it first, denied it ever existing, and passed it on to Bill.
How many of you nerds hit pause a bunch of times analyzing the intro?
Me too.
ofc Dale wouldn’t wear his mask properly … Im surprised he even pretended to wear one.
Whoever moved into hanks house couldn’t have cared for it properly. Excited to see that play out.
All i want to hear is Hank just say “dang it Bobby!”
Seeing Bobby grown up…idk. Like…I’m oddly emotional and happy.
Of course Nancy is still sleeping with John Redcorn! She still has her hair!
Damn, I forgot how crispy that triangle sounds. Hits me right in the tingly part of my brain.
I think they're going to reference that great Texas freeze of 2021
The characters just snapping into different positions when Covid hits is really funny.
Aw they quarantined on the ranch didn't they, I would have totally done that! Grumpy mother yes but that ranch was awesome.
Seeing this just makes me happy. Me and my Late father always watched this show together. Good father and son bonding time there for me.
It means a lot to me that Bobby Hill is so happy as an adult
A few years ago, the singer SiR did a whole music video in the style of King of the Hill, I really hope he at least gets a cameo somehow.
Dale not putting the mask fully-on is HILARIOUS!
For the first time in a long time, I'm actually looking forward to a TV show.
Now give me The Office or Malcom in the Middle and I can die a happy man.
Maybe a little Stargate SG1.
Malcolm just finished production of their 4 episode revival for Hal and Lois 40 year anniversary
Why would nancy leave dale for redcorn? Wasnt them rekindling thier marriage a huge plot point in the show?
For the sake of Joseph, but if Joseph knows then why stay together, really. She's a serial cheater.
You think Joseph moved out to live with his real father on Mars and once Dale no longer had him as a bargaining chip to the Alien overlords the marriage fell apart?
This is too much information in 30 seconds !!!!
Boomhauer has a family now?!?! Dangolsignofthetimesdustinthewind
Man I can't believe it's actually real. What a time to be alive.
I dont understand why peggy and hank moved? Or why that pole got taken away
Movie away is covered in the video description. The pole was probably taken away due to lines being buried after the snow storms in Texas...or at least an allusion to that.
Hank loved his house. It doesn't make much sense. Maybe they rented it out and did some traveling after Bobby moved out?
I had to watch this in slow motion. I have so many questions.
Did Nancy get back with John Redcorn??!!
Why do I feel like Peggy bought a really GOOD bra and is wearing it now
Anyone notice Connie is wearing the same kind of shirt Peggy once wore?
I truly don’t believe Hank would’ve ever left that house
I've never stepped foot in Texas besides the Houston airport but I've never felt more Arlenian (Arlenite? 🤔) in my life.
Just my own two cents, not a fan of Nancy going back to cheating on Dale.
Idk if that's necessarily the case, if you go frame by frame it started out in the original shows tl and transitioned into the new one. And in the frames with Nancy and Redcorn all the characters looked like they did the og show.
Is it me or does the intro imply that the Hills moved away for a bit?
So did they sell the house and the buy it back? Did Boomhauer get married? Did Nancy leave Dale for Redcorn?
More liking they rented it out, because I don't see Hank selling the house. Now why would they have moved out for seemingly 3-4 years during Bobby's college years. And then moved back.
Seems like Boomhauer did get married and has a stepson. Interesting...
And maybe or she just went back to having "migraines".
why would they have moved out for seemingly 3-4 years
Coincidentally, the COVID years. I'm betting a plot point is going to be that Hank was bunkered down somewhere during that time and missed it all, and is going to have no idea what happened and be super confused about everything that changed
Do we know for certain that it's Dale and not Nancy running for mayor? I haven't kept up with the news
lmao the "social distancing" after Bill gets sick!
Are they actually starting up the Nancy and John Redcorn thing again?
As someone who was in 6th grade when it ended this fucking hit
I had to Google the end date, 2010, for those last few (special?) episodes. Yep, I was in 6th grade too at the time! I loved King of the Hill and my jaw actually stayed dropped for like a minute when seeing this intro.
9 winters have passed in this intro.
it snows in arlen? I thought it was just a one time thing.
remember when texas froze oover multiple times in recent years, plus there was an episode of the original series where it snows and buck lets some pencil pusher take over strickland instead of hank during the crisis
Remember when it snowed in Texas and the grid went down? King of the hill remembers.
I’m assuming the guy rented the house while Hank and Peggy left.
Just got my son into King of the Hill. He's 9 and he loves it. Can't wait to see new episodes with him.
Awesome. I hope they release a Blu Ray box set of the whole series. 🙏🏻
I don’t know why, but I like how Bobby is almost as tall as Hank
Considering this is the poster for this season I found it highly unlikely Bill is going to have died from COVID: https://images.app.goo.gl/av6aCwdvWSPpteiU6
That first damn it Bobby is gonna slap so hard
Do we know if they recast a voice actor for Dale, or is he just going to be in a super limited capacity with what they had recorded so far?
Toby Huss will take over for Dale, he's the one who voices Cotton and Khan, but of course Cotton will be passed on and Khan will be recast. I'm sure they will use the material that Hardwick recorded for the show, it would be disrespectful not to
They recast him with Toby Huss, the guy who used to voice Cotton and Kahn (also Kahn has been recast as well.)
Uh... Was that Nancy back with Redcorn
Dale wearing his mask on his chin is perfect lol.
to quote twin peaks.
its happening again.
I like that Bobby looks so happy in the intro.
Looks like poor bill got the virus and of course the mayor is not leading by example by wearing the mask properly.
I KNEW they’d end up using that Flash rigged puppet-type animation but I’m still really looking forward to how this will turn out.
Why is Nancy getting in Redcorns Jeep!!!???!!??!?!?! They worked through this!!!
I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about Shug.
I'm going to laugh if he actually is finally helping her with migraines she started getting only, but now Dale suspects something between the two. Lol
There is a lot to unpack there.
You're just as beautiful as the day I lost you.
I hope whoever said May 25th has diarrhea rn.
I cant believe Hank and Peggy moved out :(
Wonder why they moved. Happy it’s back. Dale running for Mayor at one point makes sense.
I need a frame by frame of this now! 😂
Peggy and Joseph aged horribly.
Also I want to learn more about black hank.
This title sequence puts the biggest smile on my face
"it's been 15 years and still, that boy ain't right."
Lot of stories told here. Good stuff.
Looking forward to it.
Man i'm so excited for this!
Here's a breakdown of all the shots:
Bobby and Joseph playing with a skateboard. Bobby has a smartphone and after that there seems to be a one year time jump with the seasons going by. Connie has a global warming board.
Khan and Minn arguing. Maybe they get divorced?
Looks like two more years pass, Bobbie is noticeably older and carrying GH on his shoulders who seems to be a toddler.
Another year and during it we see John Redcorn and Nancy are still a thing
Later during that same year, the Hills move out. Bobby hugs Connie and Joseph. Bill is crying when they leave.
That fall the new neighbor moves in and is drinking beer with the guys
The next year bill coughs and walks off. The other three then have masks. So my guess is Bill was the first of the group to get covid (maybe from the military base due to so many people?). Dale expectedly has his pulled down. The other three guys are social distancing. Boomhaur then walks off with a woman who has a kid. Kid is playing on a phone.
Joseph helps dale put up signs for Dale to run for mayor.
As winter hits the electrical pole is removed so dale puts a yard campaign sign up.
The new guy moved out at some point. Hank and Peggy come back without Bobby in a car with a Trypp sign. Probably to imitate Lyft and Uber. Hank takes the Dale sign down.
Hank tosses the sign out and Bobby comes up behind them. Probably to visit.
Nancy and John Redcorn haven't been a thing for a long while by the end of the series.
And they had Nancy go through two episodes about not getting back with him. I REALLY hope this isn’t the case. It was like the only character development they ever really gave to Nancy in the show and back pedaling on it just makes no sense
A fun idea I saw someone else suggest is that she ended up getting migraines for real and is legitimately going to him for treatment.
I wonder if the purpose of taking out the utility pole is a nod to the electrical reliability issues Texas has faced since King of the Hill’s last season
old power lines are being replaced with new buried ones.
