Ultimately what does killing a character off accomplish other than giving the writers less material? It’d be a waste. But I understand it as a tribute to Johnny, no one can spiritually replace him.
Yeah, I don’t need it. I’d rather we do the reboot and move on with Dale still alive. Even if we need to end the reboot early, I don’t care I just don’t want my comfort show ruined with Dale dying. Yes, I know that’s selfish but idc.

I think it would be a fun in-universe way of acknowledging the death of Dale's VA and reference his chronic smoking if Dale got a tracheotomy and had to speak through a voicebox.

Little hints that Dale faked his death throughout the show from now on would be so Dale Gribble. Jokes would write themselves.
