He taught shop class for free and plus, he knows his way around sales pitches and is very passionate and knowledgeable in his craft.
I've worked with a guy eerily similar to Hank before. He honestly did feel like a slightly older version of Hank; even looked a bit like him too.
He was a really nice guy and definitely knew his stuff, but he wasn't the best teacher. The problem with people like Hank is that they teach by example rather than by lesson. What I mean by that is - they teach you how to do it their way, and they get uncomfortable when you do the same thing a different way or take a different approach to it. They've developed a thinking pattern where they believe their approach to everything is the objectively correct way to do it. They can also be kinda stubborn and set in their ways as a result.
Hank is somebody I would like to have on my side, but not directly in my work team. I know he'll do a good job and do it right, but working directly with him or learning from him could get really annoying.
Doesn't help that unfortunately, at least some of that advice will just be dead to rights wrong, but it was thought to be right before, and they just never changed
Yeah. Hank is very knowledgeable and could definitely teach me stuff, but he's also pretty close minded to anything new. Not so great in a mentor/teacher.
No not for me.
It's funny for the show, but if there was a student having a hard time bts, it wouldn't feel like they could approach him and talk about it.
Like I had a difficult period from at home when I was a child around Bobby's age til I literally moved away for college
Honestly I think Peggy would be more understanding and compassionate.
I think hank would: 1 be uncomfortable with trying to talk and be personal and 2 give sports analogies that I wouldn't really be able to apply in the situation.
Edit to say; if this is purely about Hank teaching a subject and not much else, I feel he would be great at that, but remember sometimes a teacher or mentor has to help students/apprentices beyond schooling needs
I honestly think he would make an amazing shop teacher in real life. Like if he could get paid for it it'd be awesome
As a teacher yes. As a mentor I think he’s too humourless and socially strict than I could really jive with.
Woodshop or Autoshop I'll tell you what. I would love it.
my step dad was a little like hank hill, but canadian with autism and no propane fetish. it had its benefits and downsides for sure, but overall pretty good and better than most alternatives.
I'd take his wood shop class.
or as a lover 👀
Hwat?! No! I sell propane!
As long as it's not for sex ed.
He’s not a whole lot different than the shop and drafting teachers I had in JH/HS
Im sure he would be a great role model. A lot of people, specifically young men, could use a role model who knows a lot of the traditional masculine skills while also being able to understand the perspective of a younger apprentice. He won't agree but if you present yourself in a confident and respectful way he will give you respect in return.
He sorta already is. I don't copy everything he does but there are elements of Hank that I've exhibited in my life. For example I will not accept a weak handshake. I've literally told dudes to shake my hand again like a man this time
He reminds me too much of my dad in the way that when he thinks he has a good idea (and Hank does have good ideas) he becomes completely overbearing and insufferable with it.
Hank has proven to be a good teacher and coach. In the wood shop episode he connected with kids and got them woodworking and encouraged them.
I think there needs to be good structures in place for Hank to excel as a teacher; otherwise, I feel he would become too rigid. Someone he could teach everything about propane would never be allowed near a tool in his garage. When he meets Bobby as a kid, he's great. When he meets Bobby wondering why Bobby doesn't know this and that, he's terrible.
With a couple of exceptions, he seems to be a good salesman, and to a large extent, he would need to know the needs of his customers. Anyone in the small business world would have a lot to learn from Hank because he would have seen it all.
I would take his shop class any day. just roaming around looking for things to fix and learn valuable skills in the process. can't beat that
I struggle with my front lawn, so I’d love to pick his brain on that. Plus any type of woodworking skills
Nah.
I'd be a drinking buddy, but there's not much I'd value learning from him other than carpentry.
My church school didn’t offer shop class, so I would’ve liked to have had Hank as a shop teacher.
Fuck no. He’d demand too much.
I’m a lazy student. Minimal amount of work. And I hated shop.
Everyone seems to be forgetting that he was actually a really good shop teacher, even Bobby was doing better so I figure the extra structure of the school environment probably helped both of them.
Luckily, I’ve had teachers like Hank. My choice would still be teacher.
He’d be the only high school shop teacher to never lose a finger.
It depends on his role, like is he my woodshop teacher or my boss?
What am I going to learn from a pump jockey? He works for tips!!
Mentor, but that's because I need a dad figure in my life
I'd definitely sign up for his woodworking class.
Sex ed teacher, just to watch him squirm 😜
I'd sell him his fishing crack.
I'm afraid I wouldn't be right
I'll go with mentor
How about a friend?
As my neighbour.
What subject?
Why Not Both?
Mentor.
Teacher
Would YALL like to have Hank as a dumbass or a stupidass
wut
Just having a lil fun
No
Maybe a beer in a parking lot. One time thing.
I wouldn’t mind Hank mentoring me about getting ready for the workforce. He’s seen just about all.
I think it's a little late in life for me to have a mentor
He has worked 2 sales jobs. If that 'just about all' I think we have different definitions of 'all'
Lol. I got it.
