I absolutely hate how good of an idea this stupid game was. God damned horse girls.
I mean, simulated horse races have been a thing ever since. Betting on which virtual horse wins is extremely addicting and has been banned in my home country. Now turn that into horse girls and you have a gold mine.
betting? oh there's no betting in here. this is a deep horse training simulation, so granular you even take them to the aquarium, an aspect of thoroughbred training no other game has been detailed enough to touch.
I know there's no betting, I'm just saying, watching a race when you're invested in one of the competitors is not a new concept.

Let me explain to some why 2nd place can be bad at times.
When you play Career mode, you do have to train the horse girl as much as you can. sometimes you'll see stats before the race (where if you press prediction) where you'll See X △ ○ ◎. Basically, Bad, Ok, Good, Best. Depending on the stats you train them in, you can either win or lose the races. sometimes if you get X X △ ○ X, or ◎◎◎◎◎ (meaning she will win it) You horse can win sometimes bad stats due to her skills that you upgrade. But you must make her mood feel good or great to make that happen and upgrading the skills
but thing is in career mode, you have turns and goals. Your first goal would always be to let them debut, no matter what place she is in, you will continue. But it will progress harder as it will turn into Get top 5 in This race, Get top 3 in this race, or get 1st place in this years. And what screws you is depending on the horse your racing with, You can finish one race, Then you only have 1 turn to train her, let he recover or take her to the nurse if their sick and then you gotta race the next event. sometimes it will legit toss you to the next race after the other race you just finished. And you do Get trophies for them no joke even having a trophy case for the amount of times you've gotten first place in races (giving you a concert as well depend on the horse girl and race they won)

1: He needed to win first place for this track otherwise he can't progress and start over
2: He still had another chance if he uses the alarm clock (you have 3 times to use a day) which gives him another chance to win the race with different strategy and your horse being in a better mood, but he wasted them all and couldn't do it again.
3: He was trying to get the concert and trophy for this race and almost did but couldn't.

For such a self-proclaimed expert you fail to realize that this was a pvp race with no significant meaning.
i haven't reach the point of doing PVP with anyone as i've been busy trying to train the horse girls more to have better stats with each career, one horse who i'm working on has lost 113 Races in real life and officially retired with not a single win.

You can tell by the outfits the horse girls are wearing. Multiple horse girls are wearing the generic player outfit at 2 stars and lower. In Career, when you have horse girls wearing outfits they’re either wearing their signatures which unlock at 3 stars or they’re wearing the training outfits.

Is the game fun? I kinda like the idea of training a horse to race but I worry that the gameplay is the usual "use gacha to get characters, then farm nodes for mats and upgrade items/skills"
the game is fun if you like management games. you don't get to interact with the actual race, it's automatically run with some rng based on whether or not your skills/other horse girls skills proc. That's the gameplay, you train the stats and skills on the horse girls and then have them autorace and try to win so you get a horse girl idol concert
the gacha is for both horse girls and support cards (gives varied bonuses to training and offers varying skills). if you don't care about pvp (psure only oil sheikhs playing gacha would) then you can technically take any horse girl and successfully clear her career to "farm" stuff. Though I suppose if you have a specific horse girl you like, i'm not sure if there's any way to target getting her outside of the just get lucky strat. And like most other gachas, you can just borrow some whale's support card and whaled horse girl to boost your horse girl.

If you played something like the chao garden in sonic or Monster Rancher, it's a good parallel with that but with higher penalties for failure and a lot more difficult.
There is an element of farming (the common currency called monies is the most problemic) but really you can grab an unupgraded horse girl, random support cards, and go into career mode and still win if you get lucky and make smart training decisions. For example, last night Ellohime was playing last night and on only his second try he got a rare ending full clear with Sakura Bakushin O in career.

hello sir u seem like the expert ive been having a blast spamming career, i got some 3 star horse girl and spammed her 3 times in career, but i notice after 3rd run the veteran rank went up from like 620 to 622 only, is this because i need to run orher horse girls?
also what is this pvp mode
Veteran rank is a bit weird, it is determined by taking into account horse stats, amount of fans, and amount of skills gained and it isn't really indicative of a horse's true strength (like my C+ Haru regularly beats B rank ones) as it is more just a big glance at the raw amount rather than synergy.
The PvP modes are under the race menu when you are outside of career mode. There's team trials where you get randomly matched with 3 teams you can choose to race your team against, and thre is casual room PvP races that unlocks when you get your team rank to a certain point.
as the previous post said. you need to get a certain amount of stats and amount of fans, but also the skills as well that you level up. During career as you progress and not complete them all you're given a chance to level up your skills alot. Some of them will have a O next to the skill. meaning it's meant for those characters in certain races which do recommended. some skills i do suggest looking into should the characters struggle (the top left in career, the lady will give you tips on what your character is lacking, make sure to actual take that advice if they are lacking something unless there is a ! for a bonus for certain things. if you see rainbow around that one stat, use it to double it) The more careers you do for the horse girls, the more the skills carrers over. Not only that, work on the cards as well as leveling them up do help you when it comes to even veteran ranks. there are times that the game will say that she is not the top contender and has like X Triangle or even Circle. but sometimes that can change where you acutally win it. it has happen to be during silent suzuka runs where she was dead last, when i retried she won the whole thing to my surprise.
I will add and keep this in mind, if trainer Tazuna Hayakawa, The girl in green who gives you tips and such, tells you that there is a "camp" event to train the girls more. it starts in 2 days. the best strats on there is to have your girls rest, and or work on their wit as it will gain you 5 stamina but also your witt goes up. But have them rest as going to the camp boostest the stats more. It last 4 turns which is perfect to level up what you need.
Always pay attention to PRedictions, Why, Predictions tell you the girls stats and how well they will do in the Race. All double circles will always have her win. However is you see X △, X means you didn't work on them too much and should focus on that alot as that is the girls weakness, △ shes ok but she can do better and work on it a bit more til you get a O. Do not think "shit she loss i'll work on someone else" is something you should do all the time. Go back to her again and keep trying for all you know you will win the next try, but do work on the other girls because once each career is done, their legacy stats (which is the last career your horse girl you worked on, friends or special guest you match with) can help you as you continue to build it. But never forget the card perks as well those are needed.
PVP. the more you play and level up (even finishing a career) you can unlock player vs player mode. Which i just recently unlocked but i haven't played yet, i want to but i wanna train the horses more so i can play with friends to trade strats and leveling up strats before going against others.
Edit: One last thing i forgot to mention and that is Strategy before races, you notice you have, End , Late , Pace, Front, check which letters they are as A means they are the best in that strategy, should the main strategy not work switch it to the next one, if not, go back to the pervious. don't be afraid to try many. however there is a skill with silent suzuka i found where the more you use the strategy, the better the stats and more she'll have a chance of winning. This doesn't look like a career race though, he's using a veteran Uma (you can see she's A-rank in the bottom left, they only receive ranks after completing careers). Looks like this is a PvP race, because there's like 4 Daiwa Scarlets, 3 Tokai Teios, and 2 Oguri Caps.
