Mako dumped Korra, he starts talking to Asami again not long after, Korra ends up getting swallowed by some giant spirit thing which leads to her getting amnesia, the amnesia leads to her forgetting she got dumped so when they finally reunite after she went missing, she kisses Mako in front of Asami and Mako avoids reminding her she got dumped and just goes along with it as if they're still dating. So not technically a cheater I think? Depends on how far along Mako got in his talks with Asami after dumping Korra, I remember they were starting to rekindle the relationship but I don't think they actually started dating again? Been years since I've seen it, gonna need some other Korra loremaster to confirm/deny 🤷
Okay, as someone who has never watched Avatar (I was JUST a year or so too old when it was popular) this entire conversation has made me realize that the show is completely different than I thought, lmao.
I thought it was basically just like american naruto or something, but this basically reads like a slice of life / romance novel that I would never have imagined to be in a kids show.

The slice of life/romance portion of Korra was a very minor, yet very irritating portion of the show for a lot of the fanbase I'd say. At least from all the discussion I've seen over it, the majority found it cringe and incredibly forced/poorly written. But thankfully it's not a focal point of the show and the romance portions in the original avatar series are handled much better than Korra's. Highly recommend watching the original Avatar series if you got the time, I'd still consider it one of the greatest animated shows ever made even as an adult. Korra isn't nearly as good but it's solid/watchable at least so whether you end up making it through that show will probably depend on how invested the original series gets you into the world/lore.
Oh for sure - the show(s) been out for quite a while and this is literally the first I'd heard of the romance sub?plot, so it definitely seems like it would be very minor, I was just surprised.
I'm told it still holds up, so Avatar is certainly on the watch list and I'm a huge sucker for lore-rich worlds, so I'm sure I'd get sucked into investing into the the other stuff too. I know almost nothing about the show except a fire nation attacks and there's a burn on the kid's face, so it'll be fun to dive into a larger world completely fresh. I'll consider this a push towards it and see if I can latch an accomplice this weekend to watch a bit with me.

Aside from the romance stuff, Korra's actually pretty good.
Iirc the romance part was basically entirely controlled by Tumblr posts. Early posts about Korra and Mako got them together. Hate posts after that broke them up.
Then the Tumblr lesbians basically absorbed the entire Fandom all at once. Which meant of the 2 remaining romance options, Korra/Bolin or Korra/Asami, the lesbian option actually became the safer option, so they went with it.
There was very little onscreen chemistry between... well all of the characters really, but especially Korra and Asami. Imo by the end of the show, it reads a lot less like romance and more like 2 friends going on an adventure.
I’ve never seen Naruto but I wouldn’t say Avatar/Korra are slice of life at all. It’s first and foremost an action adventure story but there’s also some romance drama and love triangles. I would compare it to something like x-men.

Ended at 36k from emi and 16-17k from cinna, both communities did amazing, although emi's was definitely pushed by people wanting the emi and maya cosplay stream and 24 hr camping stream.
Emi knows her audience well and knows how to use them for stuff like this. Smart move. I actually never tuned into her so I was surprised to see that she’s a consistent like 20k+ viewer streamer
I respect this from her because let’s face it, she doesn’t have to go out, & leave the comforts of her room. She is consistently the top female streamer on twitch by avg ccv. So to see her donating her time & energy towards a good cause, is nice to see.
Exactly my thought. She can make easy money at home like she always does, playing video games or cosplaying or whatever. As can many streamers. So for people to see they just came to help for clout is really annoying to hear. Emi and many of these other creators are doing way more for Alveus and Maya than they have to offer for these creators as content.
Not to mention a ton of smaller content creators who aren’t even getting credited in the major YT videos or streams came to help as well. They’re gaining little but still helping a lot. Every bit counts.
Slightly more impressed about Cinna though because she’s doing a shit ton while on a huge calorie deficit and somehow not collapsing. That’s admirable.
Heck she was so excited that she may be getting a tan, she mentioned it like a 100 times.
Yeah I don't get it either but it's hard to really watch her streams because every time I tune in i get immediately hit with like a 3 min ad.
I guess it's a combo of OTK viewer base, consistent Asmon raids, and amazing networking not to mention the elephant in the room of being an attractive female streamer who loves to cosplay. Her actually playing video games I'm sure also moves the needle.

But yeah most decently big streamers at least recently have their audience because of collabs or being adopted by other streamers. That’s just networking and it’s part of any industry.
