Honestly, we don’t use it as a derogatory term. It’s just faster than “American”.

Which subreddit was used for Germany? Neither r/deutschland nor r/germany fit
Probably r/de which is just in general for the German speaking countries/communities but essentially works as the German subreddit. Deutschland is too small and Germany doesn’t feel like it has many Germans (And is English-speaking too)

Just for comparison. My country Tunisia is at 0.88% and it’s one of the highest in its region and continent. So these numbers are very high

R/thenetherlands has 1.4 million members. The Netherlands has a population of 18 million. That makes 12.85%
I just calculated it again: 1.400.000 : 18.000.000 = 0,0777... * 100% =7,78% (some less when you use the exact numbers)

Different countries have different mathematical standards.
Where I'm at, dots and commas are "reversed" compared to what I assumed is your default.
And yet this sub goes crazy if India uses lakhs insteads of millions.
Because all the lakhs crores and whatever they use besides that is an uniquely Indian thing and it's confusing for everyone else, what can't be said about commas and dots because if somebody has at least half a brain cell they can figure it out

Its basic numbers. You have a problem with some commas in numbers but not others. Thats racist.
Lakhs and crores aren't basic numbers for the majority of people in the world, commas and dots are basically the same and if someone has a brain they can easily figure out they can replace each other in some numbers.
Similar they can read between commas when given numbers. Don’t need to be racist about it.

Thats because not everyone knows that. It's not hard to see they used commas instead of decimals, so you get the exact same idea. If you've never heard of lakh then how are you supposed to know the measurements?

Just a note that r/ireland is for anyone living on the island of Ireland and this map likely used the population statistic for the Republic of Ireland. But yes, a lot of American diaspora there.
this same phenomenon happens with american state subreddits, look at r/wyoming for example; like 10% of the people on that sub actually live in wyoming, same with like r/texas
I'm in the Yukon, population 40k or so. Our subreddits has 18k members.
It's probably 90% bots. It feels like most subs member counts have exploded in the last few years, and I don't think reddit has become that much more popular.
I guess r/iceland are mostly tourists
