Why did some countries say yes. Do they gain anything?
Some places are getting paid. Others, like Mexico, are taking them because the folks are Mexican citizens.
The map explicitly says "who are not their citizens"
I'm a bit confused... The Mexican government did explicitly state they will only take back Mexican citizens and have denied flights into the country where there were doubts that they all were Mexican
You're confused that something you saw on reddit was inaccurate?
For all we know this map might also be inaccurate, this administration isn't known for it's accuracy you know
Ah, Reddit. Please, never stop Redditarding.
yes, but Mexico is already well versed with managing migrants from central and south America, so it would be business as usual for them. South Sudan on the other hand… well I guess their refugee camps are still in order from the civil war.
Mexico has problems with inmigrants too
Exactly, but many of those immigrants are hoping to continue north. The US has been paying Mexico for decades to deal with it’s immigration issues, which is why Mexico has so many immigration holding areas on it’s southern borders.
yeah but Mexico is not a nice place to be a poor inmigrant.
It's talking about taking deportees who are not citizens of their country. Mexico agreed because it's the country that those deportees came into the US through.
yes
Kosovo is independent only because of the US and will obviously get more funds.
And canada and france and denmark and Germany and Turkey and Italy and Belgium and norway and Portugal and Spain and the uk and Albania
You’re not getting what I’m saying. Do you really think that without the US it would’ve happened like it happened? Back then the US was even more the biggest voice in NATO. Even nowadays that orange chump is showing that they are as everyone is doing how he ordered it with the forced investing into the nation’s militaries for European countries and I despise it.
South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world and just came out of a civil war. How poor are we talking? A whopping 8% of their country has electricity. As far as I know, they don't have a ton of resources and understandably are desperate for basically any way to make money.
Wait, you might ask, if 8% of their country has electricity and they have such a poor human rights record, how can they expect to provide accommodations for so many deportees? The answer is: they don't.
See also: Rwanda Asylum Plan.
What makes you so confident they are out of the civil war?
A lack of media representation means nothing regarding conflicts abroad. The U.S. and many other popular western journals will only highlight the wars that serve to benefit domestic policy, or incite “necessary” foreign policy changes.
Last I have seen it is still a bloody conflict, and seeing anyone “deported” to an active combat zone inspires fear in all.
Thanks for clarifying. I know very little about the situation in South Sudan. I was just going by a Wikipedia article that said their war ended in 2020. If you have any resources on it, I would appreciate it! I'm always interested in educating myself about the world around me.
They are almost certainly getting paid to do this in some way. Except for probably Mexico because in that case they came via Mexico to the southern US border
ICE has a budget larger than the FBI. Countries that accept for political favor and literally hundreds of millions in revenue. US human traffiking for profit.
Human trafic is what was happening during the illegal immigration. Literally ONGs are being paid to take people to the high immigration countries (US, europe)
exactly
This actually will prevent true human trafficking in the future. No racists will pay the traffickers $$ if they end up in Africa. They just want to be a white country. That’s racism. Two birds with one stone: prevent human trafficking & prevent racism. Win-win.
Boatloads of money, probably.
The leaders may get cash in envelopes.
Tariffs make more sense now eh
I’m so proud of Rwanda for taking these displaced people. Wonderful country. If they don’t want to go to Rwanda, it’s because they’re racist; and we especially don’t want racists in the USA - so it’s doubly as good if they are removed, in that case.
They gain humans. Under the current economic system, this is apparently a negative. We should really reconsider the way we run things.
Kosovo said yeah sure fuck it why not
It's their way of thanking America and NATO for pushing Serbia's shit in during the Kosovo War
Kosovo wouldn't even exist if NATO hadn't graphite bombed Yugoslavia, like it was Iraq in Desert Storm
They know most wil probably leave for the nearest EU country the very day they land.
Why Rwanda 😢
I'm sure the responses in this thread will be reasonable
US is doing something very dangerous: being a rich country, a few dozens of billions of financial assisatance can lure very poor countries to take deportees. take el salvador as an example: it has a total GDP of 37.8B. If US says it can provide 10B funding to it, which is >1/4 of their economy, then they will immediately accept the deal from US.
Bhutan and any of the Stan countries is a rather wild ask
Cambodia....
I believe Mexico is more or less taking them and then sending them off to their home country in Latin America
I hope morocco, Senegal and Mauritania do not accept or they will end up entering Europe through Spain.
What a surprise. Algeria doesn't want to take deportees who are not its own. Usually Algeria doesn't want deportees who are its own people. Lot of algerians with algerian ID, algerian passport staying illegally in France that Algeria sends back them to France.
Mongolia LOL
Why have costa rica and panama agreed to accept people who are not their citizens? They are pretty rich countries to accept this
This kinda seems like slavery with extra steps.
They will be lovely camps where people are concentrated. They’re still working on the name I guess.
Reeducation camps? No, that's been done before...
Damn, entering a country illegally (and staying despite hundreds of warnings to leave and even compensation offered to self deport where you want) actually has consequences? I can’t just break the law forever and reap all the benefits? wtf is this, fascism?
Nah, totally. I was just saying that life in the 3rd world (and basically everywhere) is so bad that governments can essentially cannibalise people in the name of 'growth'. Whatever the fuck economic growth is, I'm positive the human race doesn't need it.
he's going to send the illegals to Rwanda so they're not on American land
I think the uk is letting them use one of their better detention facilities
From US to South Sudan. That could be a total upside-down for someone.. 🫨
Why would Mexico agree to take in people who aren't even their citizens? Their version of ICE is 10x crazier and more active. What did they say was the reason they'd do that?
Maybe cause they crossed over into America through Mexico?
Bhutan, really?
When did he ask Egypt, Morroco or Tunisia?
Well Canada would also like its smartest brains back thank you.. just shove them across the border..
Didn't he refer to most of them as shit hole countries in his first term?
Just a thought but I think he is selling the people. The aircraft are returning with pallets.
I cant see how this could possibly go wrong... /s
Air drop em
The Map is wrong, Mexico is only accepting Mexican citizens.
The setup for World War 3
South Sudan?
into warzones?
The stan fam 🤣
Who even lives there
On the map 55m Ppl
India accepted deportees too I believe
I hope they asked Canada.
Motherfuckers.
Turkmenistan 😭 😭 😭
Hell yeah
Is this not human trafficking
I don’t think so, human trafficking usually involves some kind of exploitation like slavery or organs
Yeah but forcing people to places against their will is also human trafficking
that is messed up
Also plans on doing it to citizens too
Damn, entering a country illegally, and staying there despite multiple warnings to leave, has consequences?? wtf I thought laws were just a suggestion in the US
You can’t force a country to accept their citizens. You can ask another country to accept them. Yes, they often get paid for taking them.
Ask yourself this, how bad must an individual be if their own country won’t take them back?
The Serbian Province of Kosovo-Metohija -- currently under illegitimate and in fact in terms of the UN illegal administration by one ethnic group -- is not a country.
serbian diaspora talking opinion disregarded
Serbophobic scumbags regardless of where they are from blocked at sight.
The conservative fascist cruelty. The opposition party twiddles their thumbs.
Sending them to Mongolia is all fun and games until Jose Khan comes riding across the steppe, and takes over the world
maybe that was a real reason to build a wall/s
Mongolia had to have been a joke.
Weird combo, but OK. Where do we sign up?
