Did you use a hex on a torx?

thatguyisawsom OP

i used a hex i don’t own a torx

VoyantNO

Why not just buy or borrow the right one? This will always be a bad idea how do you plan to put the bolt back in?

thatguyisawsom OP

i don’t have another bolt for it right now

Kexbyyy

In the most respectful way, I don’t think you should be working on this vehicle.

Go to harbor fright or Walmart and buy a torx set and you can return it later. Try the torx first

i have one i just found it but none of them fit

If you can't figure out that you need the correct size but, you should probably put the tools down and stop messing with it before you ruin something.

lol, i just said i don’t have a size that fits

Go away.

Put the project on hold if you can and get a rpt socket if you can or a standard Torx set. Most auto stores have a loan a tool program too. Honestly you’re going to ruin your own time if you try it another way.

I really don’t care if you return the tool when your finish. If you’re looking for advice, get the right tool then proceed. You’ll have an equally difficult time installing the bolt back.

Too big? Or too small?

thatguyisawsom OP

all are too big

You need to purchase a set with smaller bits. You might have to search, but they are out there. Harbor Freight carries a set that goes down to T8. I don't think yours is smaller than T8.

Try to hammering a size up torx socket in the hole

Fico_Psycho

Or just hammer the right size torx in. Go buy some torx sockets and hope you didn’t fuck it up too bad.

OP is not using the correct tool it isn't stripped op just refused to accept that they need to get a correct size torx bit to remove the bolt and keeps shoving allen keys in it further damaging the bolt when they also do not have a replacement for the bolt. OP should not be allowed near tools.

If all else fails drill it out from the center with a tiny bit and work your way to bigger bits, boring a hole slowly until the screw cracks in half

Dude. Stop trying to fix shit without proper tools. Everyone here has given solid advice but your just biting back with dumb shit. Get a torx bit set.

Now I have used a flathead bit a couple of times to catch and spin a stripped torx, but of course without using proper tools, you always run the risk of damaging things, as you've already done.

I had a similar situation with a t30 screw, I used a rotary tool to create a line that will allow a screwdriver to fit in, and then used the screw driver with a hammer to rotate it once and then the t30 bit was able to take the rest of the rotations out, in your case it might be tight, you don’t want to hurt the red part, an extractor set should do it, check autozone if they’ll loan you one

If you have a flat head screwdriver grind it until it fits snugly. Or just go to home depot and buy torx head screwdrivers

thatguyisawsom OP

grind it with what?

DesperateSympathy7

Use a file or if you don’t have use pavement

thatguyisawsom OP

i have a torx head kit but none of them are small enough

Invest in proper Torx socket or gripedge extractor

CautiousEnd7015

just buy the right tool and hammer on a size bigger if the correct size dosent fit anymore

Hapighost

The proper size torx and applying heat, I've done it with soldering irons to soften the locktite

Get the right size torx

Looks fine

Late_Ear2739

Just get the hex extractors and hammer into it or get an extractor set and drill a hole and tap the extractor into it

By using an easy out extractor

drcarswell

Try an Impact Driver with the correct drive bit.

Jolly_Difficulty4860

There are left handed extractors or square extra tor kits you can find. You’ll need vice grips, a steel hammer, and potentially a drill dependent on which extractor set you get.

Search for damaged screw extractor on Amazon

thatguyisawsom OP

that will work even though this is a bolt ?

CalamitySTRM

Bolts are a type of screw, but yes it will

PH0QUR

Yes they work, they are reverse tapered and bite into it and extract it
