Was there ever a completed version of “Shadows of the cross” ?
I know there is versions of this song online that put different clips of it together, but was there a completed version of this song ever made? I personally love the main riff of this song and I feel like this definitely stands out from the rest of the St.Anger outtakes. (Yes I know they used the riff on “Flamingo”)

Yep! Which is why I dunno if it’s gonna end on the St Anger box or the Death Magnetic box. They aren’t in the habit of releasing unused demos or music just because it was written around the same time.

As an aside, I too love the main riff. So much so that I was playing around with the phrasing back in 2005 and accidentally wrote a riff inspired by it that I put on the shelf once I became a father. When my son turned 18 in 2022, I decided to dust it off and complete it. I have demos uploaded from 2012-present featuring the riff and I’m hoping to share it someday.

We only got a recreation by fans on YouTube. It was not released publicly, only some moments, mostly in poor quality
I think the Presidio Sessions will probably be released with the St. Anger box set.
