I have tried just about every angle but the bottom left just doesn't want to line up ;_;
You have to place it from the other side of the wall.
Yeah thanks that worked.
lmao
Just in case: it's not a joke, it's a well-known issue with the terracotta patterns.
I really wish we had a debug stick or something for this on vanilla. It would save so much headache.
Copper wrench item that can rotate blocks
Would give an under used ore some well needed and unique purpose.
Even if it only works on blocks with multiple placement options; I would love to be able to place corner stairs just on their own or at the end of a diagonal when normal placement just doesn’t let you.
I mean it just gained a whole buncha uses but yeah
*unique.
Another option for weapons and tools is unneeded.
Or did I miss new uses?
Edit: other than the golem.
I mean the chest.
Not saying new uses are a bad thing, it's just not one of the useless things anymore.
Tools and armor as well as the golem and copper chest item sorting
Yeah, but the tools and armor are just another mid tier variant.
So far, as far as unique uses go, it’s only lightning rod, spyglass, and golem/chest sorting.
Making a tool with durability whose only function is to alter blocks that can have multiple appearances gives a unique and non-permanent use for copper while also giving building centric players, like myself, a hand with annoying block orientations.
I dare say copper was a gift to modders, everything else is an afterthought. It was one of if not the most modded ore, and if the modpacks were bad you would end up with like 10 different coppers.
Much like terraria hammer, i agree itd be a great addition to Minecraft
i would give it 3 modes.
rotate, copy, and paste.
rotate just rotates blocks:
for terracotta, etc the face you rightclick will rotate 90° clockwise
for blocks like stairs, rightclicking the upper half will put the stair part on the top and rotate it 90° clockwise, rightclicking the lower half will put the stair part on the bottom and rotate it 90° clockwise
copy, right clicking a block will save its rotation state
paste, right clicking a block will apply the saved rotation state
swap modes by sneak right clicking the air with the wrench.
.
this would save so much time building stair roofs for example. you could just place all the stairs without caring for rotation, place one correctly rotated stair, copy, and then run around on the roof and paste the setting onto all other stairs
yeah i understood. that is just so fucking funny
not an issue i don’t think? the position depends on the position you placed it in, so yes it’s kind of annoying having to get the right angle but i don’t see any other way to make that work
You have to try every single angle. It’s kinda infuriating, and I had to build a whole INSIDE WALL out of it…
They should add Dubug Stick functionality item
Or, like, a WRENCH! It would make stuff like this so much easier!!
EDIT: Idea! Copper Wrench. Has the ability to rotate blocks!
https://vanillatweaks.net/picker/datapacks/
Under the Convenience tab is a terracotta wrench.
The people yearn for vintage story....
This was in industrialcraft. Copper wrench to be used for rotating machines, as specific faces of the blocks had different functions.
If we had copper wrench as a tool. What kind of enchantments should have? Every tool can be enchanted so far.
Mending and unbreaking, take it or leave it lol
It’s SO annoying
"Had to"...
There is NOTHING you "have to" do in MC. Wedo it all because WE CHOSE TO.
Honestly, yeah. I get the downvotes, but I agree. I just did it because it looked cool, lol
That's a pretty amazing pattern for a Zaros themed build wow
Came here to say this shit lmao
Hidden Zarosion symbol in Minecraft. That’s pretty funny
Literally came to say that I will never NOT see our empty lord with that set of terracotta
Try placing it from the other side of the wall.
You may have to be behind it to place it that way
Have you tried praying to our lord and savior Zaros, the Empty Lord?
This is why I use debug stick on singleplayer... no time for that lol
Sadly on a server.
Vanilla tweaks has a rotation wrench mods for both terracotta and redstone.
ZAROS!!!!
still riding the high from getting an ancient dhide body from a hard clue a week or so ago
This is why I want something like the hammer from terraria, just to edit block positions without having to fight something for 5 minutes, or having to redo an entire build because some stairs don't work...
Terracotta is weird, and its orientation is decided by which direction you face, like North, East, South, and West. If I remember correctly, that is, it's been a minute since I've worked with it
Cue. Mike Myers cat in the hat
You have to be upside down
I glanced at this and though you were asking why your nether portal wouldn’t start
Have you tried asking it nicely
If you're playing Java and creative, get the debug stick
We should be able to flip blocks like item frames.
Debug stick
You’ve fallen victim to terracoitus. You have to **** around with it.
When I work with glassed terracotta, what I do is to place 4 blocks as guide. I walk looking at the north, then standby and move the cursor to look all the way down to my feet, jump and place the block. Turn around to my right, walk couple blocks, look down, jump, place block. This second block is when I'm looking at the east. Then south and west. This way I can use it as guide to know to where I should look to place correctly this or that block. Unfortunately, this means I can only work placing terracotta while looking down and jumping, so high buildings are a pain and bit of extreme sport.
Unfortunately, for this method to work you would need to break the four blocks and maybe the ceiling. What I think is happening in your case is you're trying to place it while standing in front of you. When placing a block in front of you, the position and support side to which you're attaching it influences the orientation of the block. I.e.- stairs. If you place the cursor on the bottom half of the block in front, or the top of the block below, the stair comes as "normal", two steps in the bottom, one step in top, you can walk. But if you're looking at the upper half or the bottom of the upper block, the stairs is inverted, which looks good when building an arch or window or something, but doesn't work as stair.
So, coming back to you terracotta, you need to check how it looks if place it while you're looking at the block to your right (the terracotta with the sword pointing up and left), to the block above (terracotta with sword point bottom right), your left (wood wall) or bottom (cobblestone), or alternative, place a block behind and try the same, but looking at each corner.
I firmly believe terracotta should have the function "Swap" or "turn around", so whenever you use left click, it turns 90°. Think on a rubik cube. Would save lots of headaches and make them much more popular for decoration.
My world?
Scream and shout
Nooooo this terra cota is an impostor (creeper noise) tik Tok tik tok kabooom
