Hi, I’m playing for the first time after 15 years and my friends and I started a realm on the first world I generated.
It’s been fun but the main island we spawned on is pretty small compared to the giant surrounding ocean and far off continents, and so some players are going thousands of blocks out to build their base which is causing the server to lag.
I just want to know if this would be considered a ‘bad’ seed for that reason, and if anyone has tips on how to capitalize on the giant ocean. Thanks.
Try an underwater base in a glass bubble? It would be a fun challenge
I like that. Any tips on how to drain large amounts of ocean?
sponge / loads of sand
Is there a way to naturally drain ocean without sponge?
gotta stack sand blocks, then break the stacks with torches
That's a great idea.
Gravel will also work with the sand as they are both gravity blocks
I used scaffoldings to drain mine, ways faster to farm in the long run
Watch TheNeoCubest on YouTube, he has a hardcore world where he built a truly awesome underwater complex. 👍 edit: mistake
Flying machines (special for draining)
flying machines can do a good job but it depends on what your doing
I like gravel cause you get even more flints from remaining it
Plenty of people like spawning on an island, though maybe that's more in singleplayer. It's subjective. A more objectively bad seed would be if the island was three blocks wide with no trees.
That's true, have to look on the bright side. I very much like the base I built but it's a shame my friends have built theirs further out across the ocean.
Also is it common that flat land is so hard to find? Almost everything we've seen other than ice and beach is extremely mountainous or hilly.
One of the few complaints about Caves & Cliffs is plains biomes being so hilly. I made a datapack to address that.
I feel like it's a fun seed. Bad generation is sometimes subjective.
I'm honestly surprised Minecraft realms can't handle multiple players being in different chunks.
I disabled an add-on and it helps but yeah it seems limited. I'd like to expand into the 5-figure block range but I'm concerned with performance.
When you say 5-figure block range what do you mean?
10s of thousands of blocks.
I assume they mean coordinates from 10,000-99,999 but then again I’m not them, so they could mean something else
There are no bad seeds, they just had the bad luck to appear precisely at the nemo point of their world xD
Edit: Apart from this, why don't you make like a castle on some island far from the Spawn and surprise everyone with your base? You make the island bigger artificially but functional and aesthetic
Just started doing this!
How many blocks explored don't directly cause lag. Only how many active chunks there are and how many entities are being loaded.
IT'S SO WET
Well, why not set up a base someplace else? I never stay ar spawn. Right now our base is 5000 blocks away from spawn. We specifically went exploring to find an interesting spot for our base. Also, idk about realms, but my java home server also lags when we are thousand blocks from one another running in different directions. But I find that it is also due to the shitty connection, not only an old cpu (4690)
If we had more experience we definitely would have but we were total noobs and only went like 100 blocks from spawn, which was in a village.
There's now 4 or so pretty decently sized bases spread out over a 2000 block radius.
Nice, you could build ice boat roads to join them for quicker travel before you get elytra, in the overworld or the nether.
Is there a way to generate large amounts of ice?
Not sure, I usually just mine it on mountaint tops (it's quick). And I mostly do nether highways, so I rarely need more than several staks of it.
I can relate with my 4770k on vanilla 😭
Works well on ATM10 with 3 players tho for some reason
Spawn chunks surrended by water? This is like a dream for farms
Honestly if you wanted more of a "world" feeling map, a central ocean on a smaller scale is great. This seed looks so cool tbh.
What's the seed? That looks fun for single player
It's up to how you like to play the game.
Also, complaints of flat land, there's nothing flatter than the sky or the ocean
It’s not that bad. In my map, one of the maps is all water, no isles no nothing. Just a huge span of water lmao
build a raft city :3
im sorry but why does your map look like spamton neo from deltarune holding a hammer
If you don't like your island, why can't you move your base, to somewhere on the world you do like?
I like the island, my friends have built their bases far away.
Build an intercontinental bridge
Build giant coastal cities. Build under water. Build a castle/fortress that spans that entire center island. Lots of possibilities!
I believe this doesn't even look like the old map which made more sense I agree with you
Actually I like that map configuration where you had that big lake in the middle you could do a lot of stuff with that and make bridges over it but that would make it ugly but other than that you could do a road all the way around it or do other stuff yeah that's actually a good map you just have to uncover the rest of it
Ig time to make a pirate themed world
