Copper Horn with the New Copper Update?

I was wondering if maybe, with the new copper update, Mojang could look back into the idea of copper horns especially with them going back and adding old things that didn't make it into the game. Just wanna hear y'alls thoughts.

Could work on all pets as well. When I have allays or parrots, they always get lost, and the horn could maybe force them to teleport near you (also applies to dogs and cats obviously)

What I have always wanted was a way to “call off” your dogs. Someone accidentally punches your dog army and they start getting mauled? Just blow your Horn to tell them to stop. It could even be combined with the recall mechanic using the copper horn’s original system of different sounds depending on how you blow it.

Precisely! I would love it if pets just got an update in general. I love Minecraft dogs but I never tame them because they will get in my way if I have them follow me and I feel bad if I just make them sit in a corner of my base for years at a time. So it would be great if there was an option in between those two, a “don’t follow me but you can wander around here”. Maybe even add in some special behavior where they will run up and “greet you” if you come back after being away from the area a long time. There is a bunch of quality of life and minor changes they could do to pets to really improve them.

Agreed. If anything, I’d love for my parrots to just stay on my shoulder, maybe only coming off if I crouch a few times quickly

Idk, I like the idea that you have to be directly looking at the pet in order to call it. I don’t want every animal I own teleporting to me when I blow it at my base. It’d break some farms.

I imagine you could have different animals assigned to certain horns by right-clicking with it on the animal so that you could have one for a specific pet or all of them if you wanted

Better yet, right clicking it will "bind" the ghast, or any other pet (even horses, llamas, striders, etc) to the horn. Right clicking again will instantly summon them to the player/owner's location (with a puff of smoke for style points), (like the horse flute from Stardew Valley) in case they're outside of the player's render distance and can't actually travel themselves

Edit: This idea also came from the adventure map Drehmal, in which there's a custom horse armor item that links your horse to a receiver when you put it on the horse. When you leave your horse and walk away, it is "recalled" (disappearing), allowing you to explore on foot without having to worry about it being killed or wandering away. Right clicking on the receiver will bring up a menu of all of your linked horses, and from it you can select which one to summon immediately to your location. Since the custom horse armor (spoiler up until 50% completion, for those who do play the map) is obtained from the ruins of a high-tech military base, it wouldn't fit into vanilla Minecraft the same way guns or anything from modern day do, so I figured using the copper horn would make more sense. The map is built entirely on datapacks, so there's no reason Mojang can't make this work

i’d say instead of right click to find directly, you’d have to blow the horn and feed the pet while the sound is playing

Had the exact same idea. This would also fix a lot of the annoying bugs with pet AIs where for example in water they'd just not teleport to you for some reason and similar scenarios

That would be a clever way to implement a recall system. You could have it so when you bind it to a name tagged pet it will automatically rename the horn to something like “Fido’s Copper Horn”.

A neat way to customize it further could be by putting a goat horn and a copper horn in a smithing table, you could change the copper horn to match the sound of whichever variant home you have.

I really like that. It could work like the flute for Quark (I think) where you bind it to an animal (wolf, cat, fox, strider, horse, donkey, mule, happy ghast, etc), and when you blow it, it summons it. Probably wouldn’t teleport it, but could make it start pathfinding to the player.

And if they wanted to tweak how it works, it could be used to call wandering happy ghast to come back to the player. Or copper golems to come near player. Don't know if latter would be usefull in any way though.

Would also be nice if you could use them to activate special skulk sensors. Make it so the skulk sensor could be adjusted to only react to a specific horns, so that way it can act like a password or key

Similar to the goat horn, they’d play a sound when interacted with the player. However, unlike the regular horn, the copper ones would play different, more chime-like melodies that would make different sounds depending on the direction that the player was facing when playing the horn.
