The humble item frame:

WillCraft__1001

Item frames are very nice, but it looks a bit janky if you’re trying to make a clean looking house in survival. I agree with OP, placeable clocks would be nice. Especially if their design changes depending on if it’s placed on a wall or floor

superjediplayer

I think we just need to be able to make invisible item frames in survival.

Glass instead of leather?

East-sea-shellos

Even if they wanted to make it harder, clicking on the frame with a phantom membrane or something could also make sense. There are a lot of ways they could make it lore friendly

radioactivecowz

Or an invisibility potion, give brewing a bigger usage in survival

Pcat0

Brewing is already important enough. I much prefer using using phantom membranes. If phantom could indirectly reward invisible item frames I wouldn’t be as annoyed having to kill them.

Purrowpet

Kind of a pain in the ass to get any meaningful quanity of membranes, for a pretty and generic item you'd want a lot of

I actually have a good idea for it! you know how we can like place potions in cauldrons in bedrock edition? So my idea is that to make invisible item frames, what you would do is basically have an invis potion in a cauldron and then take an item frame and like right click it on the cauldron (essentially dipping it into the cauldron) and that makes it invisible!

average_fox_boy

but preferably the entire held item stack instead of only 1 at a time

WillyDAFISH
:pufferfish:

yeah, that would certainly make it easier, although I'd be okay with it being more tedious. Maybe even more tedious if the potion level goes down every use 😈😈😈

:shulker:

Even in creative they're annoying to make

superjediplayer

yeah. And they aren't on bedrock.

There's no other good way of just placing an item on the ground. You can use armor stands but you either need to use datapacks (or find commands online) on java, or try to somehow pose them on bedrock but it'll still never be in the right spot anyway.

SinfullySophie

Invisible item frames are very much available on Bedrock. Much like Java, there's a mod/add-on for that.

theaveragegowgamer
:husk:

In Java you can just make them invisible with a command, no external add-on required.

SinfullySophie

i understand that, but they are still available on Bedrock. Adding an add-on takes about the same amount of time as writing out a single command line. As others have stated, I'd prefer they just added them natively. But they are still an option.

imperfect_imp

I don't remember the syntax of the command, but it's roughly this:

/data modify entity (make sure you're looking at the frame so it auticompletes its UUID) Invisible value True

It's not like you're cheating by giving yourself a stack of diamonds. I don't see why you shouldn't use commands like this if it enhances your gameplay.

superjediplayer

i know it's possible with commands on java. It isn't possible on bedrock, and even on java, it'd be nice if we didn't need to use commands for it.

imperfect_imp

You could maybe give glow item frames an empty texture file and rename glowing sacks to invisible ink sacks or something with a texture pack.

Not entirely perfect, but since I rarely use glow item frames anyway it would work at least for me

FinalEgg9

I made fhem invisible using an amethyst, was that a mod?

superjediplayer

Yeah, that's a mod. And imo the way that mod does it is a fun way it could work as it gives amethyst another use, and it prevents you accidentally leaving empty invisible item frames as you can only use the amethyst to make an item frame invisible once it has an item in it.

TGCommander

I use a data pack (though I think it just runs the same command but through a trigger instead) and only frames with an item in them can be made invisible. They automatically become visible again if you take the item out.

I'd wager it'd work the same way with the modded route

Use the command /give @ p minecraft:item_frame[minecraft:entity_data={id:item_frame,Invisible:1}]

You could download a mod to toggle invisible item frames, or just use the command to do so

Item frames are amazing. I love item frames. I also love clocks.

When i hold a clock in my hand and right click on a wall and nothing happens i get sad.

Yeah I do actually think minecraft needs to make a lot more of their items placeable. Pumpkin pie is another one, why can’t we place it like a cake?

Sad_Pear_1087

Yeah why not do tables, chairs and fridges at that point?

This is sarcastic

Mango-Vibes

Because you made your concept look the exact same as a clock in an item frame and it doesn't add any value to the game

:vex:

People who are saying 'item frames' are missing the entire point of the post.

It's great that item frames can be used to display items but being able to place certain things like Clocks, Bowls, Potion bottles, etc. would be amazing. It would add a lot of ways to decorate interiors without adding completely new items to the game. This is exactly the type of thing that is sorely missing in Minecraft.

This is a great idea.

MonkeysxMoo35
:slime:

This.

Item frames are great for pretty much every other item in the game if I want to hang them on a wall, but I wish we could just hang a clock up on the wall by itself like you would a regular clock in your house or at work or where ever. We don’t really have a lot of decorative items that are specifically for walls; other than banners and some light sources like torches, we really only have paintings. Giving the clock a physical model that can be hung on walls would be so nice as both a new decorative block and a utility one. I always make a few clocks for my houses to just hang around on the walls, but man they look so ugly and out of place with the item frames behind them.

So like an item frame but more minimalistic

Economy_Window7854 OP

When u place cake down is it in an item frame

dylannsmitth
:mooshroom:

No, but that's a unique case. An outlier.

Making a minimalistic version of the item frame that becomes invisible when you put things on it would mean making one block.

Changing every single item so that you can do this with it would be a big and cumbersome job with bugs and stuff.

Economy_Window7854 OP

I'm saying they should make the clock a "unique case"

Changing every single item so that you can do this with it would be a big and cumbersome job with bugs and stuff.

How many items did I suggest this be applied to

Why are you so hostile? Be normal.

Have I said something to offend you? I'm on your side. I was looking at your idea and saying "yes and". As in yes and we can do it this way so that it can be applied to other items too.

ccanonwhite

Invisible item frames are a seperate idea

Clocks are really the only and oldest non-wall mountable items that make sense for this. Theyre kinda cooking NGL u gotta step back from the emotion and see the vision fr.

What if there was some kind of frame that could do this but with every item to allow wall mounting

BlargerJarger

If you can place a cake you can place a wrench! I mean, a clock!

thelaurent

I mean at this point minecraft really just needs to embrace place-able items. Especially food and potions.

Item frames are clunky anyways and using 50+ all those entitys starts to eat up memory pretty quick.

ShrimpAlmostMurderMe

Love the drawing and watermark

I mean is a handful of sticks and a piece of string like, difficult to find for you? I like the cherry and pale oak item frames for clocks myself, with a nice dark block behind the light item frame for a more layered look. Like cherry over obsidian, or polished blackstone. Pink and black have a lot of potential for good color schemes. I just wish they would make all colors of wood available to make item frames with. Not just cherry.

SmoothTurtle872

I'm sorry but what?

handful of sticks and a piece of string

That's a painting

the cherry and pale oak item frames

They don't exist

Also the outline of item frames are birch not cherry, and the background is either leather or yellowish depending on glow or normal

I feel like this is AI but at the same time, maybe just a modded player, idk for sure tho

fineilladdanumber9

A painting is 8 sticks and wool, not string lol

SmoothTurtle872

My bad,

Multiply the string by 4 and it's a painting

Pepperonipuke

No mods, and ur right about the crafting recipe. They are similar. But Cherry and Pale oak item frames do exist. I have a cherry one on my map wall in the latest version of bedrock.

Check the bottom right empty item frame beneath the most eastern fully filled map. Cherry. No mods.

That is a mod/add on/resource pack. https://minecraft.wiki/w/Item_Frame

Piter__De__Vries

I think it’s just a glowing item frame retextured

SmoothTurtle872

None of that is vanilla...

Do you have add-ons or a resource pack on because none of those exist, that chest isn't in the game.

Also all of those blocks seem to be non vanilla except maybe the cherry planks in the corner

Create a new creative world and disable all resource packs, then check for these items cause I garuntees you won't find any of them

Piter__De__Vries

I think it’s a glowing item frame retexrured

SmoothTurtle872

Yeah they said

Pepperonipuke

Its the pattern texture pack that came out with the 360 version of the game on the old xbox. Thats the only pack I have active. Its literally just texture. No aspect of gameplay is affected.

SmoothTurtle872

Check your behaviour packs on the world, because those item frames do not exist

Pepperonipuke

If you read up a bit in this thread someone mentioned that it is likely a glowing item frame. I promise you, there are no other active behavior or texture packs. Base game, pattern texture, thats it. This is over 5,000 hours of gameplay here. I know what I know about it.

SmoothTurtle872

Yes and I know what I'm talking about, there are very few features in the game that I don't know about, I might not know too much about previews rn cause I'm away, but I know that those item frames don't exist cause if they did I would have seen smthn on Reddit

Pepperonipuke

Glowing item frames exist, they just appear different colors and textures when you play on a texture pack. Trust me. Im just as "in the know" as most players. Its like my full time job. A glowing item frame looks like this in Pattern texture, it serves the exact same function as a glowing item frame without any added visual texture.

SmoothTurtle872

Yes and you did not say glowing you said cherry. You should have said glow item frames or that you were using a resource pack which you didn't

Pepperonipuke

I played it cause my GF liked the colors and when I tried to go back to normal texture it was SO BORING... so now im stuck with this one. No other packs active. All these blocks are exactly what they are, its just the patterns that different.

SmoothTurtle872

And if you look on the wiki And search for item frame, there will only be two, both with bitch frames, one with a letter background, and one with a glowing one

Pepperonipuke

Ya. The pink one that looks like cherry is a how a glowing item frame looks in this texture.

SmoothTurtle872

Yeah well you needed to specify you were using a resource pack because you said your og comment like they were vanilla which they arent

Pepperonipuke

A pack that does literally nothing to game mechanics is still vanilla. No aspect of the game changes except how blocks appear. If the mechanics of blocks or items were affected at all I would have mentioned it. It should be glaringly obvious that there is a texture pack here.

SmoothTurtle872

Yes but if you say the cherry item frames only you know what your talking about I thought you had a mod because you said cherry item frames and then asked Mojang to let you use all wood types. You then said that place oak a d cherry both exist when they are a resource pack meaning they don't exist

OuJej

Brother that's a glowing items frame

Pepperonipuke

Ya actually your probably right. I haven't moved it in over 500 hours of gaming. Its just the exact same shade as cherry.
