It doesnt "ruin the portal" you just remove the portal frame. You still can use it like normally too, and you can make it at a far away end portal if youre worried that much
I think he meant that it ruins the end platform (you do need a collection system bc the duped sand goes in the end playfrom
That whole system is beneath the platform though, and you can still make an obsidian farm with the platform too
You can also have a spawn chunk collection system to keep the End clear, by using a simple water stream to send the items to the center portal in the End

Hmm, what about a cobble grinder? Like it was in Industrial Craft 2 y'know? You put cobble\stone - ye get the sand\gravel + small amount of ore dust.
You can't make sand from cobblestone or almost any kind of stone in real life. Sand used in glass or concrete comes from natural earth processes. Grinding up stones creates aggregates which are used for completely different things.
I mean you can’t exactly create a hell portal from an obsidian rectangle and a Bic lighter in real life either brother
We can get infinity afk with glitches, easy.
The reason they haven't patched those glitches is because those glitches are a band-aid on the wound that is "Sand renewability"
What we actually want is reasonably "RENEWABLE" sand, like from a mining villager for example, who sells sand, red sand, and other non-renewable things like that, maybe ores.
I once made my base a huge desert colleseum in one server, (Other people were impressed, but it feels really small compared to what I am capable of today, I need to make a megabase one of these days.) Try to make a giant building out of sand, you will LEARN how limited of a resource sand is.
...Y'know what, they might've been more impressed by the "deadlands" around my colleseum that ere completely stripped of sand and sandstone.
What if husks occasionally drop sand, then you could create a husk farm?
What if stone dropped sand when you mined it with a mace? Like you're really pulverizing the rock?

We already have one. Not quite a farm, but it's a dupe mechanism using the End portal.
Technically speaking a creeper + snow golem dropper is more functoonal (snow golems attack creepers and can make them explode) and the player only needs to sit and place snow blocks is fully automatic just nonsensical
You'd need a pumpkin farm, a creeper farm and a snow farm and some way to drop them in the same spot

I could totally see this becoming a mini game where you gotta go around finding TNT to supply these goobers with while they launch it at an opposing base.
Either you lose when you have all your golems killed or maybe you can build new ones I dunno but it's definitely a fun concept.

So we have ghast aircraft and now golem anti aircraft cannons... whats next offshore ghast aircraft carriers? dolphin torpedoes? Turtle submarines?
Okay but this is legitimately impressive. Now we just need a way to renewably make gunpowder without creeper farms.
I think adding sulfur power would be ideal, youd get it from smelting blocks of coal and it could be used as a weaker fuel for brewing stands but wouldnt allow the player to craft brewing stands as you still need blaze rods. Sulfur powder could also be crafted into blocks, and placing a Soul Torch Jack O Lantern on top of a sulfur block will spawn a Blaze, which the player wont be able to do without visiting the nether to get soul sand.
Coal could also be made renewable by making it a product of smelting Skulk blocks, which themselves are already renewable. Charcoal should also be able to be made from Bamboo Logs to make it possible to fully automate charcoal production.
Gunpowder could then be crafted from bonemeal, sulfur power, and charcoal.
