Copied from article: The Christian County Sheriff’s Office announced the tragic death of off-duty Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams and wife Ashley in a vehicle crash on Monday.
The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. on Melton Road outside of Highlandville. Investigators say Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams, 52, was a passenger in a vehicle operated by his wife, Ashley, when they were struck by a suspected impaired driver, head-on, who had previously eluded law enforcement. The deputy sheriff and his wife died at the scene. The couple’s four-month-old grandchild remains hospitalized.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams joined the Christian County Sheriff’s Office in November 2022 and served with distinction in the Patrol Division as a patrol deputy.
“Mike was one of those guys that no matter what the situation was, or what he was asked to do, you could count on him,” said Sheriff Brad Cole. “The loss of Deputy Adams and his wife is a profound tragedy for our agency and the entire community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”
Deputy Adams was an Air Force veteran and had previously served with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office before he and his wife moved to the Christian County area.

It should be zero tolerance minimum 10 years jail. No one accidentally drinks and drives.
My cousin, her fiancé, and their unborn baby were hit and killed by a drunk driver. The DD's passenger was also killed. This asshat spent less than 6 months in jail!! I found out he died from cancer a few years ago. I hope he suffered greatly! It was her 19th birthday too!
This is partly due to the impaired person being more relaxed.
Too bad our drunk driving laws are a joke and only a cash cow. Too many preventable deaths on our roads.
Drunk drivers are the most selfish awful people. There are so many options besides driving intoxicated. Prayers for Deputy Adams and his wife.
