Maybe his mom's name was Ocean? That would give Earth in latin, Sky in Japanese, and Ocean in English.

Kuina's father, Koushiro is still alive.
He's not a direct descendant, Kozaburo and Yasuie are from different branches, the only direct descendants left were Ushimaru and Zoro grandmother, his sister Furiko. As Ushimaru didn't had children the only left is Zoro.

And "Ummi" is probably a better romanization of the Arabic word for "my mother" due to the shaddah. Although romanization of Arabic is a complete mess with little to no consistency anyway.
I genuinely think the whole Tera=Earth thing is a misconception based on the translation.
Here are my reasons:
If Oda were aiming for a theme here, why use the literal word for sky in Japanese and a miswritten Latin word for earth? "Earth" in Latin is "terra" ( with 2 r), not tera. While Tera could be a version of the word that sounds more like a name in Japanese, I don't think he'd do that, if he was going for the sky-earth thing for Zoro and Sanji. Plus, while Sanji has some( althouth very little) sky-themed stuff like Skywalk, Zoro didn't really have an earth theme so far
I don't speak Japanese, so I'm not sure if "Tera" as the western alphabet version of the kanji looking similar to "terra" is not just a coincidence, because according to the one piece fandom wiki, the name follows the naming theme for Zoro's relatives to have something to do with gambling.
Here's the passage I refer to from Tera's page:
"Tera (寺) means "temple" in Japanese. Her name may be derived from terasen (寺銭), literally "temple money", a fee charged by a gambling house. This follows the gambling-themed names of Zoro's relatives."
If her name in kanji fits the gambling theme of Zoro's other relatives, that's imo far more likely than the earth thing.

In Kingdom Hearts, they spell “Terra” (meaning earth in Latin) as “Tera (テラ)”. It’s the same spelling as Zoro’s mom’s name.
The caveat is that the katakana could just as easily be romanized as Tela, Tera, or something else. But, Terra is 100% not off the table
