I get it, you like Widowmaker's design and you want to try her out, that's cool! But if it's been half a match and the other DPS is already pulling double digits while you only got 4 kills then maaaybe change to something more straight forward?

I am learning widow right now and sometimes am better and sometimes am just dogshit. I'm never in comp, only quick play. How else am I supposed to learn her if I always switch 🤷🏻♀️
Keep using her. If you're on quickplay and you're having fun, you should use whatever you want. Even if you dont hit a single shot, that's indeed, how you learn.
Thanks!! I am indeed continuing to just try her. I'd say on average I get around 10-14 kills and 5-8k damage. Sometimes I hit insane shots and sometimes I just get killed over and over. But I looked at all kinds of tip vids and everyone says practice makes perfect so that's what I'm doing :D
Meanwhile their sup is not having fun and unable to learn their character
tbh just having a Widow making people scared to appear on her LoS and restricting their movements or forcing a shield tank like Sigma or Rein makes my job so much easier. Not everything in this game is about the numbers that show when you press tab.
Also, people tend to counter her with dive heroes and Tracer is an amazing character to peel your own backline against dives. Just watch their Doom/Winton be annoyed by Widow, jumping on her and just melt them down. Or be an annoying mosquito against that ball and force him to be permanently below 50% HP for the whole game so they can do literally nothing
I hate Widow, and I hate sniper maps, but I will rather stop playing alltogheter than deny people to play what hero and maps they like, even if it's losing or in my subjective opinion it's "bad taste"
Some people just can't help themselves. Rather than just hit the avoid teammate, they have to go in chat and let them know they are unhappy. Or in this case, make a post on reddit about the hero they dont like lol

What you call "denying" people when it comes to maps is just a voting roulette.
You vote for the map you like and the system decides at random, that's it.
But one person leaving during map vote send everyone back to the que, that's how people have been denying "bad" maps
Those are shitty players, and they exist everywhere.
We also have people who disconnect after losing one team fight, so this isn't being done exclusively during map voting.

I had a game with a widow like this yesterday, but luckily, the other team had one too. They were both absolute ass but spent the whole game (poorly) dueling. Our team won (thanks to everyone but widow), and our widow had the audacity to type “widow diff” in the chat as if going 10/16 was that much better than the other widow’s 8/18, or as if they had any impact whatsoever on the match. It’s just QP so it’s whatever, I also try out new heroes in QP with varied levels of success, but be real.

Instead of blaming them every time, maybe help peel for them? Maybe pocket them? Maybe deny the enemy Widow sightlines and pressure her?
I play a fair amount of Widow. There are games and days where I can't hit anything and those where I can't miss. But on average I do alright, and the main difference maker for me is having the space and support.
Get a couple picks and win the Widow 1v1 early in a game and watch 3 ppl on the enemy team swap to dive or just constantly put a Sig shield in my face whererever I peek. Meanwhile my team stays on Rein, never looks back when Genji or Monkey dive behind them, etc... or just never pressures the enemy Widow.
I'm more than willing to swap if my team actually tries helping me and it just isn't going to work. But I'll gladly stay on Widow and go 1:14 for a team that does nothing for me.

If you ain't hitting your shots, then we're effectively fighting two enemy DPS with just one on our side.
Are you though? Lots of Rein players think standing on cart holding shield is making space, but it isn't. Are you pressuring enemy Widow? Are you clearing high ground? Are you peeling dives? In my experience, I see many more bad tanks than bad dps. Just afk on cart "I'm helping". You actually have to claim the space your team needs.
