My sword broke, probably from mining Chromite, and I needed a new weapon. I’m like three updates behind on the meta, so off to Reddit I went. One of the better comments says something about legendary Terraprisma, so I go see if I have it. I have a reg schematic, along with Meowmere and a bunch of others. I make them all, play with them a bit.
But here’s the difference: when I’m riding through Sakajurima with Terraprisma equipped, with a rainbow of pastel ghost swords on my back, I’m just slaughtering anything that looks at me funny. I’m riding, not dismounting, and not attacking. Stuff is just dying all around me. My swords detect agro and just fly out and kill stuff. My XP count is running like a Georgia power meter in summertime.
Also, it seems the attacks are interrupts, even against Predator Pals. It’s so deadly I’m not always relying on my pal anymore as much, and I’m not using any ammo.
Can’t guarantee it will be magical for anybody else, but I suggest trying it if you haven’t already. It’s been fun.
It’s ridiculously overpowered. You can just stand behind a pillar while it beats the tower boss to death. Mine is common. Got it my first run. Best weapon ever. I found an epic rocket launcher and haven’t even crafted it.
It's so overpowered that I self imposed the rule to not use it to beat something for the first time. It's a nice way to speed up kills but can essentially skip a battle.
In terraria, it's the deadliest summoner weapon you can get and will protecc you vehemently.
It's also brutally hard to get there (but so worth it). When I saw Palworlds version was just Terrarias, I knew it would be very strong.
"QoL"
Its great fun and super convenient but i don't think I would ever call omnipotent omnidirectional inputless death machine QoL. its a OP weapon that lets you skip game mechanics.
Also the single biggest QoL is the surgery table cutting base pal breeding down to 1-3 steps with both the sex change letting you make ideal partners easier, and being able to put nocturnal/serious/artisan on pals or philanthropist on breeding pals. Mercy hit on a mass catch vehicle, serenity+ musclehead on offensive pals etc. saving potential days worth of time.
The surgery table has been my salvation.
Countless worker pals bred and my bases have never run smoother.
I gotta agree with the table being a better QoL than the Terraria stuff. 2nd best part is the amazing new swimming options and things to DO on the water! 3rd would be all the new base workers and non-combat party skills. THEN the Terraria stuff coming in at the end for interesting gear.
I would like to see 1 small change to the surgery table... make it possible to remove/copy passives from one pal to another.
My thought is this: disposable, 1-time-use chips. Make them expensive and slow to make, but so useful. Have a chikipi with, say, heart of the immovable king and want it on a blazamut? Rather than going through the breeding chain JUST for a base pal, use 1 chip to transfer it from chikipi to blazamut.
And by making the chips expensive and/or slow to make, this could balance it fairly well without making breeding completely obsolete.
Exactly, I have only read these messages looking for like minded people lol
It would make breeding nearly obsolete as cool as thee idea is.
You would have to limit it from transferring rainbow passives as otherwise youd just go fishing for rainbow passives and graft the passives on, especiallg for raid pals, even of it had similar drop rate to previous workbooks itd still be faster than trying to breed raid pals. And you could even get all the exclusives. People would just resort to save scumming or modding its drop.
Even if you attached a downside like giving each passive you transfer the sketchy surgery -30 stats youd still just do it and then raise their stats with fruit.
Even if you limitied it to 1 use per pal youd just extended the process by 2 steps as youd just make a breeding pair them graft the other 2 passives you want onto their children and make them breed your ideal in 1 batch. Still allowing the likes of legend on raid pals.
Bring up mosding as a "people would just mod..." makes the whole thing obsolete. Why make the game at all? People can just mod cute monsters and catching spheres into skyrim.
As for the rest, make it non-breedable. Transferred passives can't be passed on via breeding. Why? Does your kid have your tattoo? Your artificial arm? Does your mechanical heart valve become genetic?
Come to think of it I find the ides that surgically added passives can be passed on via breeding to be a rather weird mechanic in the first place.
And they could add another class of passive for non-transferable. But there are some rainbow that should be allowed it, especially non-exclusives. Like Heart of the Unmoveable King. Non-exclusive, bur rare enough to be a HUGE pain to get on limited spawning critters, like Blazamut.
No it doesnt haha also why go for a purely hyberbolicly nuclear argument, why argue at all?
When books were rare many people used mods to get them then delteted the mods and went back to normal after they got what they wanted in several different forms or went with different methods of cheese which are equivalent forms of manipulation or just gave up on the system entirely, the same behavior would manifest again and it wouldnt be a good addition as the main means of dealing with it would either be manipulating/bypassing game systems or pretending it doesnt exist.
Currently surgery traits are breedable.
"It can be modded to break the limitations the devs set" That's literally the purpose of mods. Devs say "we like it in 720" mods can make it 1080. Devs say "we like pink sky and purple grass and big hairy giants". Mods can make it blue sky, green grass and muscle mommy giants.
I went nuclear option because I was speaking specifically for VANILLA game. I.e., people who want to enjoy the game as is and don't need GTA-esque cheats in the form of modded files to have fun.
"If it's rare, people will just mod them in" and? So your point was that if a system is rare people can mod it, so why include rarity at all? Why not just spawn players next to a chest on first login that has literally every item in the entire game, since players can just mod it in anyhow? Why include building when mods can make any prefab players want?
Bringing up mods as an argument against someone wanting a new system or feature added to a current system is weird. Because not everyone has access to mods (I play on console). And not even everyone who can use mods do. Some people want to enjoy the core game mechanics as the devs wanted. Why? Because I don't view games merely as a past time for me. I view them as art. They are an extension of the minds that created them.
And yes, I'm aware surgery passives are breedable. That's why I said "make them not." Didn't think that part had to be explained in so much detail.
The point they are making is that its a poorly designed solution which will push people who enjoy playing a Vanilla game into seeking non vanilla solutions either in direct form of modding a single drop rate or the server settings which are fairly equivalent.
that's it.
Modding isn't some boogeyman. its putting your favorite art piece in a display case that fits your room better.
And... just where did you get the ides that I thought modding was a boogeyman? I know how far mods can push it - I modded the hell out of skyrim and even made a handful of my own.
MY point was using modding as a "that system you want is shite 'cause mods" is a faulty logic argument since mods, by their very definition are NOT base game. And yeah, I didn't think it through fully 100% to ensure it had 0 loopholes or bugs. Know why? I'm not a dev. I'm a fan. I say "this is what I want". If enough people agree, THEY figure out the logistics. Not me. Not my job. Not my paycheck.
Yall are the ones who disagree. Cool. I respect that. I don't respect people using what amounts to fanart or fanfics as an excuse for my opinion to be negated for what I would like to be cannonically in base game.
Thats not the argument.
The argument is that its a bad idea because the balancing for it would push people into not base game solutions.
Modding is one of the options people will use, including abusing server setttings and spawn rates and save scumming etc. you just simply seem to hyperfocus on modding and treat it as a boogyman as shown by your comments despite your assurance otherwise.
Its less of a departure from the normal gameplay loop than chest runs+ Alt F4 or Alpha Butcher Alt F4's and other solutions people will use to get them to skip breeding 2k+ Xenolords. or simply allow them to make the strongest pal as advertised by clickbait youtuber.
What's crazy to me is how Pawprld nailed the AI for Terraprisma almost exactly how it is in Terraria.
Walls? We might go through them, depends on how hateful we feel or how many parking tickets the target has.
Randomly slaughtering everything including some farmer you didn't know about? War crimes are ok in Terraria, Terraprisma is not familiar with this "Wanted" sign, but look at all those additional targets! Look boss, the list is getting longer!
Its as hilariously broken as it is in Terraria, maybe moreso.
Even only doing 1 damage a hit its still causing massive flinching and you can use another weapon while its doing its thing.
And then there's also the Vortex Beater... my uncommon one is carrying me through Feybreak.
Seeing the new faction bases was kind of a disappointment since my pals seem to get stuck and stop attacking when inside or on top of them.
However, after getting Terraprisma and Nightglow, that disappointment was quickly replaced with glee as I stand outside those same bases like a post timeskip anime protagonist
I have to look into this Nightglow situation
There's also pieces of armor that buff certain terraria weapons.
Was too weak to fight Marcus, got terraprisma and slaughtered him and the next 2 towers back to back. I just wish it was easier to unequip, I find it Agros enemies that I was trying to avoid lol
Push in one of the control sticks(I think left, but IDK) on controller to instantly despawn them.
Don't know what it is on keyboard, but if there's a button for it on controller there must be one on keyboard.
its aim weapon button on kbm
Not at home to try, but I appreciate the help!
How did you do that? I took Terraprisma to try and do a tower, but it broke instantly. Do you have to take multiple? Mine was just a common though as the drop rate is a joke, not sure if that affects the durability a lot.
I have two equipped for this reason 😉
I actually only needed one of the common version, definitely would’ve helped with Victor to take 2 as the 1 I had didn’t QUITE cut it, but got me close enough to finish it
And I didn’t play around with durability settings, that was still default
They just added turning off equipment durability with this update, if you don’t mind messing with the world settings. Terraprism 24/7 on demand, and you never have to repair it again.
Oh okay! I gotta check it out, thank you!
Hit your ads button with the sword equipped
That GA comment was too specific for you not to live in GA.
Fuck GA power lol
But have you tried the lantern and voidbeater, voidbeater is my favourite weapon heat seaking assault rifle with the occasional missile
I clearly see it a bit different to others then. Like its good but i dont feel mine does any kind of ridiculous amount of damage, and it also runs out of durability so quickly.
Can terraprisma attacks also proc passives like Daedream's?
Oh god... that's definitely something to test, see if followup hits act on every hit. If so...
A collared Daedream doesn't follow up every attack, it attacks once and then it goes on a cooldown
Good to know, that stops it from being absolutely broken. I haven't used a Daedream artillery squad since launch.
The thing is, the audio is strange whenever multiple swords hit at the same time
It's fun but imho completely OP. You can literally just wait behind cover until it defeats all enemies in range. It even goes through floors and walls
I just got the legendary guided missile launcher but prefer my common Terraprisma best weapon ever
Getting this thing has become my number one priority so I can go back to exploring without living in constant anxiety.
I got super lucky and pulled a legendary in one of my first few runs....its always equipped now 😅 being able to mine without worries is so amazing 😁 same with going for supply drops and meteorite I just head straight for it and let my swords deal with the annoyance 😅
Such a great weapon but the only issue is coming about higher tiers.. I have common and I can’t for the life of me find any other higher tier schematics or regular schematics to combine. I have run through the terraria dungeon so many times and have only found the common schematic once.
How often do you have to repair it?
Very often. I carry two just to be safe. That, apparently, is the cost of god-mode.
Don’t have to repair it all if you turn equipment durability off in the world settings !
Haven't tried it out yet, going for the Legendary schematic first. Highest level I've found so far is uncommon though lol
Unsure if you're aware, but you can combine lower tier schematics into higher tier ones
5 of a tier to upgrade to the next tier:
5 Common to 1 Uncommon
5 Uncommon to 1 Rare (25 Common)
5 Rare to 1 Epic (125 Common)
5 Epic to 1 Legendary (625 Common)
I did realize that, but I appreciate you trying to help! I've been grinding the dungeon for a while now to get as many schematics as possible.
Now get floppies to carry their drops to you
Wait...you were mining ores with a sword?
This is the way
How is this found? Or where can it be farmed? Even a basic version cause I haven’t seen it at all so far
It’s pretty good, it’s definitely a relaxing weapon to have on your back when exploring, I always have it on for those annoying pals trying to punch me.
but the dmg/time it takes to kill a boss is slow imo, I’d probably suggest having the vortex rifle for them cuz that weapon does ridiculous dmg and doesn’t have to reload.
I want this so bad but I'm just not a fan of dungeon diving. Nothing against these dungeons, especially the cool new Terraria one, but in this game for whatever reason I'm just not a fan of them so I try rushing through them but inevitably get horrendously lost. UNTIL someone posted a screenshot/map of the Terraria dungeon for speedrunners so I will now be farming it until I get a legendary Terraprisma 🤣🤣
Has anyone tried multiple of them at the same time? Fo they stack?
Seems that you can summon up to nine, either from one copy or multiple. Multiple is annoying but I think could split up the durability lose.
Just turn off equipment durability 😬
Terraprisma is my favorite weapon in Terraria and now my favorite weapon in Palworld too. Life is good for fans of aggressively protective flying rainbow swords.
Just makes me want to boot it up and start a new summoner playthrough lmao
Man I love terraria so much... until the last portion of the game haha. I really had to lean on the super op weapons to stomach those final fights. (though it was also our fault for going in blind into expert mode with drop on death.)
Really need to do another run soft.
Same for me got one for my daughter both in Terraria and palword so she can freely explore without worry.
