Did they remove the Jormuntide that was near the big whale bones?
I went over there to fight him with a friend for the bounty token but he's not around, instead I fished up a Turtacle near where he used to spawn that had his passive skill.

Still there but i think they increased length of his wandering route by a lot. I once saw him almost near whale head wbich hadn't happened before the ToT update.

Though it is kinda dumb how it despawns the other Jormuntide if you take out the Lake/Beach one, especially on 2x or 3x Pals when solo if your trying to farm them because they don't have a natural non-alpha spawn.

The two spots are linked. If you deal with one the other one will despawn (don’t know how it works in multiplayer but in solo that is how it works)
No. I caught mine on that spot. This was a new server I joined after the Terraria patch. Though my missions are broken
The Jormuntide in the lake is dependent on the whale bones one. If one is gone the other is too.

What do you mean? There's more than one Jormuntide on the map??
It's a Schrodinger jormuntide, it spawns in two locations but until you go kill it it could be at either location lol
Makes me wonder, what happens if two players are fighting them at each location at the same time and one kills or catches it, does the other disappear, or does only one spawn in when both players approach?

Yes, there’s one a bit below the desert with Anubis and one below the magma crack
