The girl on the left is her best friend Francia Raisa who gave her a kidney (likely saving her life). She didn't make the cut for shoutouts when Selena accepted an award.
Do you also know the context for that post perchance?
Seems like an extremely cold and childish response, i'm just wondering if that's cos of the void of context or if she really did get some comments on it and respond by throwing her hands in the air and being 'Jesus, here she is, deal with it!'
Someone on a post called out that she didn't thank x person and she replied with that comment, which honestly is a slightly sassy way of saying "you only get a small window of time for a speech". To my knowledge i don't think it had anything to do with Francia past someone trying to throw shade at Selena that she also didn't shoutout the person who gave her a kidney.
It's just someone trying to paint a celebrity in a bad light by being offended on behalf of people who probably don't care.
Do we even know if the friend wanted to be mentioned on stage? I think if I was selena's friend, I'd be afraid of being harassed as a "clout chaser"
No idea, she's dedicated an award to her before its hardly like shes got to do it at everyone since. From what I could find they had a falling out anyway so you hardly going to thanks someone whose on the ropes with you anyway.
they had a falling out but repaired their friendship afterwards and are on good terms now
If I were the friend, every fight or disagreement would just lead to, "How is that kidney, bro?" She'd eventually be like,"Ah! I'll just give it back if it's such a big deal!" But then she would realize she might die if she did that, and then we'd just go to lunch.
You would go from being a great friend to a bad friend very quick. Holding shit over “friends” like that is so cringe.
Yeah I had a friend for years who started doing shit like this and it poisoned the friendship instantly
So, how's that kidney?
Honestly it depends on the friends and how it is done. Of course a lot of people don't have that sort of relationship, but my found sister and I can do shit like this to eachother and it is basically a signal that this is a stupid fight and it's time to start being dumb and claiming dumb things on eachother to let the steam off. "Hey brother don't forget that kidney I gave you!" "Yeah well I didn't forget when you almost killed me with a ketchup packet either!" "And I didn't forget when you hid a loud watch in my closet when I was 13 knowing the ticking would drive me insane at 3am on a school night!" "Damn you right want starbucks?"
But we also are just people who don't count what we do for friends. I don't get people who are petty like that.
This guy friends
Is "cringe" another word for "immoral" now?
No, it’s just that immoral things are cringy to some people, which I think is a positive thing. They’re not mutually exclusive.
No? It’s something that makes me cringe and also happens to be immoral. Didn’t realize I had to use every word that described it in my Reddit comment. It’s also dumb, lame and a host of other things as well.
I mean sure, but I'm also 90% sure that was a joke. At least I hope it was.
Dont you understand humor or something
I mean if it was something small yes, but a kidney? That mf better be grateful till they die.
Jack Handey, is that you?
"How is that kidney, bro?"
"Awesome, I got the only part of you that actually works."
You have committed the unforgivable sin of not making explicit that you were being sarcastic. Please forfeit all material belongings to the proper authorities. Your children are now property of Carl's Junior.
You know what? We're not friends anymore. Give it back.
Give what back?
My kidney.
Are you serious?
Next person on the list is about to get a wild phone call.
Well that's good
From what I could find they had a falling out anyway so you hardly going to thanks someone whose on the ropes with you anyway.
How do you fall out with someone who donates you their kidney? Did she take a shit on her mums grave or something?
I think I'd let a mate get away with quite a lot if they'd saved my life while risking their own lol
I don’t know if this is accurate but I heard that there falling out had to do with Selena not giving up alcohol after the kidney transplant.
How tf would you get clout chaser from donating a kidney and not asking to be mentioned on stage by someone else? If anything she’d be more likely to be harassed if she did ask publicly to be mentioned.
That's the thing. The internet is full of people who attack people for things they've imagined rather than caring even a little bit about the truth.
I donated in 2020 and I got accused of doing it for non altruistic reasons. So I get this.
If I needed a kidney I would be happy to get one from non altruistic reasons. Heck, life stream that event for likes for all I care.
Oh no!!! The person undergoing surgery to keep me alive is slightly too online about it!!!
I was disappointed that my employer, a hospital system featured articles on their webpage about a nurse that donated altruistic, but when a it person does it for a friend not a peep out of them. I posted it on my social media page and that’s when I got flak for it. I wasn’t asking for a ticker tape parade, I just thought it was a good story. How I promised a kidney and 6 years later delivered it.
I got my kidney donation from a deceased donor so kinda different but like, if their family bragged about it for the rest of forever, it wouldn't bother me at all. You saved someone's life, you deserve some kudos. Plus telling your story could encourage others to consider donating
as a kidney recipient, i appreciate the hell out of you for doing it. i was lucky enough to have my partner be a direct match to me and we did the surgery about 7 months ago, and i’m eternally grateful for it.
I knew of a vtuber who was harassed so bad that they met a tragic end, solely because they were friends with someone who was popular. It feels like people really just want something to be angry at.
The very definition of parasocial behaviour. These people have built an entire delusion around having a “relationship” with the person they’re fixated on, to the point that they have to announce their opinions about the person’s real life and relationships even when nobody asked.
To the celebrity they idolize, they’re just one of a million, some random ass nobody that they’ll probably never meet or have anything to do with in the future. But to the fan, this celebrity has a unique singular relationship with “just me!” It’s hard to recognize you’re part of an audience if you’re the only person you can even see.
I don’t know your situation, and that sucks that you weren’t given the benefit of the doubt. But in this situation I think speaking up about wanting to be thanked in a speech would increase the accusations of clout chasing vs staying silent on that topic.
There’s also got to be an expiration date on that shit. I can love and be thankful to my friend for saving my life for literally the rest of my life, but if they need me to mention it at every party eventually we are going to have a talk about how here sacrifice does not give her the right to dominate every event of my life.
Gave up a kidney for the clout. Gotta respect the dedication
I think you can tell a lot from the response "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know" in comparison to something like "She didn't want to be mentioned and I respected her wishes" as if her best friend that donated her a kidney is the same as a barista from a coffee store near her house she frequents or her mailman
She's an actress and had a main role in How I met your Father.
And Secret Life of an American Teenager.
Selena and Francia had a bit of a fallout, I’m not sure if the timing lines up with this, but apparently they weren’t speaking for a while because Francia was upset Selena was drinking. They have since reconciled iirc.
yeah plus typically if you win an award you have a short time to thank the people who helped you win it, especially if you've already won some other awards and shouted out your close personal relations there.
If it's an industry awards speech, you tend to prioritize thanks for...you know...the people working in that industry, who had a direct hand making the thing you're accepting an award for.
Like, if you're accepting an award for best song or whatever, and I'm the guy who did the mix on the song, and I get bumped from the thanks list so the person accepting the award can go into an unrelated personal story, that hardly seems fair. Like, I get it, but this isn't the Kidney Awards.
It wasn’t about an onstage acceptance. She said in a Rolling Stone interview that Taylor Swift was her only friend in the industry, despite the fact that Francia is a successful actress.
Then, Selena would have just said, “She doesn’t want to be mentioned,” instead of the answer we got.
In her speech, Selena said Taylor Swift was her "only friend in the industry." Francia is an actor and responded with "Interesting." That sparked Selena to say, "Sorry I didn't mention everyone I know."
It wasn't a great look for Selena.
Selena was probably talking about music industry since her and Taylor have that in common. Francia isn't a musician, AFAIK.
That’s what makes her reply so shitty. I thought the same, that she had the chance to excuse herself saying “sorry, I meant music industry!!” and instead she said what she said.
Selena got the hardest fanbase I ever saw, they would say she is right whatever she says or does.
Francia did say in an interview that the situation was complicated because the doctor told Selena that they were a match before they told Francia. Doctors aren’t supposed to do that because even if the donor is a match they still have to make the decision if they truly want to do it.
To my knowledge not shouting her out wasn’t the only thing Serena did.
I remember a lot of reports saying that they weren’t friends anymore after the surgery and Selena even said so at some point, not shouting her out during her speech was just the “proof” people needed to paint her as being ungrateful.
ah gotcha, thanks :)
To note Kevin Smith was essential to Good Will Hunting made. They forgot to mention him at Golden Globes and promised to get him at Oscars. They also forgot to thank him at Oscars. It didn’t hurt their relationship that he didn’t get a thank you.
I understand limited time and all, but I feel like using that limited time to thank a person who literally saved your life is a worthwhile use.
I want my life to be carefree enough that I have the bandwidth to give a single fuck about celebrity acceptance speeches.
Selenadid an interview and said Taylor was her only friend left in the entertainment industry (which is patently false but whatever)
This is what happened. She was promoting her documentary when the interview happened. Nothing to do with awards shoutout. Here's a vanity fair article about the incident.
I have found thr quote "My only friend in the industry really is Taylor (Swift), so I remember feeling like I didn't belong," - Rolling Stone.
Then people called her out on how weird that was to say.
The context is after winning an award, she posted on IG thanking specifically all her friends she has in the industry. for all they've done to support her music career.
People who para-socially stalk everything Selena, Justin Bieber, and Hailey Baldwin do decided to go snark up her socials like "wow the girl who gave u a KIDNEY doesn't get acknowledgement" and Selena, at that point having dealt w harassment for years, made the above comment.
It rubbed the friend the wrong way initially, not because she gave Selena a kidney, but because she's ALSO in the music industry, albeit much much much less established. They fell out shortly after this post, but have since made up.
perchance
You can't just say perchance.
I believe it was Kant who said "Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play."
Kant was crushin turts before it was cool.
you cant just say per chance
I think to remember, that there also was a thing with Taylor Swift. Taylor got an award or something and Selena said something like: " my best friend is still the best in the business" and people got offended she called her, her best friend an not the one who gave a kidney
So uh, do those people realize that you can have more than one best friend and most people don’t take them term “best” quite that literally? Normal people don’t rank their friends??
"My only friend in the industry really is Taylor (Swift), so I remember feeling like I didn't belong," she told Rolling Stone in 2022
That could specifically refer to the music industry though. Francia Raisa is an actor not a musician iirc.
It’s bloody insane how much people micro-analyze every single move celebrities make. They are people too, and they make mistakes. In this case, she didn’t even make a mistake, so it makes even less sense to criticize her. People always want reasons to be upset and love to intrude on the lives of celebrities.
Totally. Same goes for accepting reward. Why thank unrelated to work people
This shit happened three years ago?
I would say people can have several “best friends” but if they specifically refer to someone as their “best friend” and not “one of my best friends”, I usually assume that person is indeed their closest friend.
Nah, multiple people are my “best friend” I don’t need to rank them or to supply people with my internal heirarchy during a conversation. I’m talking about my weekend plans, not compiling a WatchMojo video
tbh I just graduated out of using the term. I will say "one of my best friends" or "my close friends" because I actually do associate the singular term "best friend" with one single person.
While donating a kidney to your friend is a very noble thing, when you're receiving an award, you generally thank the people who directly contributed to the achievement you're awarded for.
You say that, but everyone thanks God and their parents
“I’d like to thank my dad for cumming in my mom!” 😬
being alive probably contributed to being able to earn the award though
"I'd like to thank the government regulators who made sure my drinking water didn't kill me."
is drinking water as scarce in the US as a kidney donor?
Nah she could’ve locked in without it /s
It's because she specifically mentioned that Taylor Swift was basically her only friend in the music industry, but her friend who gave her the kidney is also in the music industry. Obviously not Taylor Swift level, so she didn't merit a mention.
Francia literally asked Selena not to talk about the kidney donation because it was overshadowing/interfering with her acting career. That’s the context everyone seems to ignore.
NOOOO WE NEED TO BE HECKIN LIVID AT PEOPLE WE DON'T KNOW OR INTERACT WITH AND BE 100% CONFIRMED IN OUR VERY STRONG AND UNSUBSTANTIATED OPINIONS OF THEM EVEN THOUGH AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY IN ALL CAPS WE DON'T KNOW OR INTERACT WITH THEM AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
People who follow celebrity gossip tend to be low-IQ, non-critical thinkers? Color me shocked.
If I was the donor in this situation. there is a decent chance I wouldn't want my name constantly brought up by my world famous friend.
George Lopez got a kidney from his wife, then cheated on her. This isnt that bad.
George Lopez out here like “what he say fuck me for?”
The doctors also stiffed her because they told Selena that its a match first, when they should have told Francia first and let her decide whether she wants to go theough it or not
It wasn’t about an award acceptance. She was quoted in Rolling Stone saying TS was her only friend in the industry despite Francia being a successful actress. Honestly, it really was a massive snub.
... I read that as 'shootouts', and was very confused for a moment there.
She also stopped talking to her as well
Probably her biggest regret, the kidney donor. I cant imagine what I'd do if I gave up my kidney for who I considered best friend in exchange for this attitude
The attitude wasn’t directed at Francia. It was a sarcastic reply directed at somebody commenting on why she didn’t shout out Francia during an award speech.
How's that any better LMAO?
If a random person digs up your past after getting an award only to make a bad faith post why you didn't thank a particular person that helped/saved you in the past. You bet your ass I'm going to give them shit for it.
Word. Also random fucking people don't know the reason why they weren't thanked?
Like if a person gives me a kidney, but we have a private personal fallout I ain't gonna thank them for shit.
There are innumerable reasons to not thank someone who helped you before...
If an asshole saves my life I'll probably still thank them.
Would you thank them every time you thanked anyone for the rest of your life?
Many years ago, my an boss rescued someone from a river, in an out of character moment of thinking of someone else. He is also currently doing time for beating his then partners children. The lady he saved even was a character witness against him in court. You are not redeemed from being a shit just because you do good things.
There's a pretty thick line between "an asshole" and "beating children" lol
I think you could beat these people over the head with a dictionary and they still wouldn't understand the definition of nuance
Right, this girl might not want the notariety either. She did it to help her friend and doesn't want to be paraded around as Selena Gomez's private hero.
Also some people just do this shit for the attention. They're so chronically lonely, they'll say something so awful the celebrity almost has to respond, and then your underwear get a little tighter because Selena Gomez noticed you.
It’s been years now and she sang her praises when it happened.
Because the chore of having to shout out everyone's name is ridiculous. Im sure her actual friends are a better call on how people actually feel rather than the ridiculous internet outrage on behalf of people they dont even know
The only way to win in that scenario would just be to thank “everyone” generally. That way some edgelords on the internet can’t find fault
I can definitely see how this is annoying. She thanks her best friend privately there's really no need to do it publicly. Maybe they talked and didn't want her to bring this up anymore, doesn't matter it's between them. So skip forward now she has hundreds of people asking her why she isn't thankful every god damn chance they get for their own self satisfaction. Bonkers behavior from celebrity worshippers.
She also did praise her publicly *years ago when this happened* lol the fuck do people expect?
How is it not? You can be snarky to judgmental internet commenters who think they know what’s best all you want.
Her friend has gotten shout outs at other awards.
you don’t know either of these people dude…
Because that random person doesn’t know either of them and their relationship is none of that random person’s damn business.
Surgery 2017. Award 2025. I am guessing she's thanked her friend a million times. If I donated a kidney and my friend kept thanking me years later for shit that had nothing to do with me, I'd say, "Cut it out. This is performative."
But it kind of was though even if not directly. Saying shit like "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know" feels quite arrogant since the one she forget to mention was not just some random person she knows, but rather a person that saved her life which should be something to never forget and always be appreciated.
So in this context it was actually rude that she forget to mention her and even more rude to state a comment like that afterwards. If someone very close to me saved my life like that, I could never forget what they did and I would always make sure she would be appreciated. Selena Gomez is the asshole.
It's not like she hasnt thanked her ever. It was one award show, and you get, being generous here, like 20-30 seconds to speak.
Im fairly sure she's even thanked her in another award speech before. There comes a point in time where no matter how good a deed, thanking them would be more a performative chore than real appreciation.
The missing piece here is that we don't know either of these people.
We don't know how the donor feels about Selena potentially mentioning her name every time she wins an award, gives a speach, or does an interview.
Could be they prefer to not be in the news all the time.
She doesn't owe a random internet idiot anything other than snark.
> So in this context it was actually rude that she forget to mention her
No it wasn't.
> even more rude to state a comment like that afterwards
No it wasn't.
> If someone very close to me saved my life like that, I could never forget what they did and I would always make sure she would be appreciated.
You really don't want to think this way. It's a huge problem for people in these situations to feel like they can never repay the donor.
It's also ridiculous to think that for the rest of your life, in all cases where you express gratitude about *something completely fucking unrelated*, that you also thank one person.
People are deranged.
I’m not sure why people are worked up. I’m sure she thanked her in person lmao it’s not like the surgery was over and Selena walked away and deleted the girls phone number… not everyone needs validation in a big stage wtf
I have an uncle who gave a kidney to his ex girlfriend, whom promptly left him after getting the kidney
big oof
john locke woud love him
People seem confused about the timeline so let me break it down.
In 2017 she got her kidney transplant from good friend and actress Francia Raisa.
There were then rumours of a falling out because selena started drinking and doing drugs and generally just abusing her health and Francia was obviously not supportive of that. I think this was around the time selena got with justin one last time. Those two always got fucked up together.
In 2022 selena told rolling stone "My only friend in the industry really is Taylor (Swift), so I remember feeling like I didn't belong,"
People on the Internet were like WTF. Selena tweeted that.
Since then Francia has given interviews where she said she doesnt regret giving her the kidney but acknowledged they aren't really close anymore.
ETA: thank you no_Peformer_9686 for reminding me that in the same interview Francis explained that she found out she was a match for the kidney FROM selena. So selena's doctor broke HIPPA laws by sharing her test results and private health data without her concent. Selena called her crying telling her she was a match and Francia was never given the opportunity to really opt out. Fucked up.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
So... Fuck Selena, I guess?
A guy in my office needed a kidney. One the secretaries gave him theirs, saying God told them to. The recipient was extremely grateful at the time but years later things went back to normal and he treated the donor like any other secretary. I think the moral of the story is illness doesn’t turn flawed people into perfect people, and if you give an organ, don’t expect anything in return. Do it out of the goodness of your heart or not at all.
Read about a boss that fired his secretary for taking too long to recover from a transplant. The transplant was her giving that boss one of her organs...
Jesus Christ. Do you have the article for that? Id like to read it too
This is snopes documentation
Woah what a scumbag, they even rehired her just for her kidney., and then booted her afterwards.
this is diabolicaly evil
my head is on pluto right now.. WTF
I have a good friend with a dog named Pluto so I was confused for a second
*Her secretary. Women looking out for each other and all that jazz.
There is another angle to the Selena story. I think Raisa was guilted by Selena to donate the kidney.
In turn she pushed Raisa away to not feel that guilt herself
There's an interesting doc that came out on Netflix a year or so ago, Confessions of a Good Samaritan, about a woman who documents going through donating a kidney to a stranger. In interviews, she talks about why people donate organs and how they react to it. Not uncommon for the donor or the recipient ends up resentful and the relationship is ruined.. The donor for obvious reasons; the recipient because they've received this gift they can never possible repay and feel guilty about it.
Which is what her friend is doing acc. to as much information as I have. Which is a noble thing to do. But me as an outsider... Maybe I am not one to expect people to change but I am certainly a part of the human dynamic(society) that judges and shuns people for undesirable behaviour.
Bro, if I was in that guys position, I wouldn’t even be able to hide my favoritism for that secretary. They would get whatever the fuck they wanted from me for as long as they worked there lmao
Was the donor bothered by is?
Surely you'd expect a return to normalcy once the honeymoon gratefulness period wears off?. wouldn't it be awkward to have sort of a faux beat friend vibe in perpetuity?
I can understand why it may be incredibly awkward for both people if not resentful if they feel locked into a sort of unfulfilling relationship though. You do this huge thing and then have to kind of let go.
Fuck that bitch
Yeah fr Selena a bitch
Yup. And part of their falling out was about Selena’s continued choice to drink despite that being a big nono for kidney recipients
Fuck the doctor I think
Fuck that bitch!
This is why I hate Selena Gomez. Fuck that shit
I'd like to add that Francia’s medical rights were violated. She said in an interview that Selena told her they were a match before any doctor did, which shocked her. That’s not supposed to happen because doctors legally have to tell the donor first and get their consent before sharing that info with anyone else. So the fact that Selena knew before Francia did is actually a huge breach of medical privacy. Just makes the whole situation even messier...
Not only medical rights. If the receiving person knows that you are compatible now it is harder for the donor to make a decision without pressure. If you refuse the doctor can simply say that they are not compatible and keep the decision privately.
Yes, that is the medical right we are talking about.
Yeah, normally they give the potential donor a guilt-free opt-out, and say they are incompatible if they don't want to donate.
Omg forgot about that completely that was the most fucked up part for sure because selena used her wealth and status to exert a fucking organ. Sorry bout that.
This infuriates me and should be more common knowledge. This was 100% not ok.
HIPAA*
She also was allegedly coerced into giving her the kidney as well
[deleted]
Damn, I never really liked Selena but couldn't put my finger on it. Just saw different reports of things she said/did and thought she seemed like a POS. Now, it's confirmed.
That is messed up on so many levels I don't even know where to begin, if it's true than Selena is definitely a grade a scumbag
Yeah, but wouldn't that person who SAVED YOUR LIFE be at the top of the list to thank for every speech afterward?
Not if they would prefer not to be...
we don't know what the two of them have talked about or agreed to.
We do because the other girl commented angry on her post lol
It just depends on the person. For example, I am very private and definitely wouldn’t want my name to be mentioned in public at a large event.
Maybe the donor just asked Selena not to mention or thank her all the time in public. The donor is another actress so maybe she wants to keep her focus on her work and not just be known as “the kidney donor.” Francia, the donor, has publicly said she doesn’t regret donating her kidney.
This comment isn’t about the awards. She thanked her in awards acceptance speeches before, it would be a bit unnecessary to mention it every time after. It’s in response to saying Taylor Swift was her only friend in the industry, which at the time was true. Her and Francia had drifted apart and hadn’t spoken in a year. The wording would understandably hurt Francia but it’s not unreasonable of Selena. They’re publicly friends again now and have said there was never any problems or falling outs. People drift apart and together again.
I really don’t think it would be unnecessary to mention her in every thank you speech for the rest of her life honestly. Wouldn’t even have the chance to win awards if this girl didn’t give her her kidney
Yeah, but also, who gives a shit?
People in this thread care way too much about the personal lives of strangers
Can you believe billionaires can be selfish?
I, for one, am shocked and appalled
"Personal lives" aren't personal when you post it online
Personal is not the same as private...
If anyone in the future wondering why the Reddit hivemind suddenly hates Selena Gomez, it’s this post
Let's see what /r/fauxmoi and /r/popculturechat have to say about that!!
Edit: im banned from /r/fauxmoi
I’m banned from both 😂
I’d be concerned if you weren’t banned there tbh
Parasocial behavior towards celebrities is fucking weird. And it's so common in those subreddits.
She’s also a billionaire whereas according to Reddit nobody becomes a billionaire without being a greedy sociopath. Except Taylor and Selena lol.
Just gonna say that if I were the donor. I probably wouldn't want my name put out there by my super famous friend. I don't need paparazi showing up in my life hounding me about what a selfless act I did
The donor, Francia, is not only an actress herself, but has also given interviews regarding that donation, so I'm very confused about what you are talking about.
This and exactly this is why and how I and many of the people I know got convinced that Selena Gomez is a stuck up egotistical narcissist as soon as she isn't on any camera or media.
I’m just shocked at how this insanely huge sacrificial act of donating a kidney is being downplayed by so many (admittedly not all) here.
If someone donated an organ to me (hoping that I wouldn’t ever need that), that damn person will be the first name out of my mouth every single time. I would be thanking that person every chance I get.
If you're gonna make someone feel obligated to constantly thank you for helping them, you can keep your "good deed".
You should help someone because you care about them or it's the right thing to do.
Not because you want them to be beholden to graveling at your feet the rest of their lives.
She's a pos, that's it. Always was. Spoiled brat.
The internet getting offended on behalf of other people really should be allowed to stop
Hasta me duele la pinche vulva nada mas acordarme de ti
She’s never living that line down, is she?
Only the special breed of some redditors could find a way to not be eternally grateful for a kidney donation
I mean I personally would mention the person who I wouldn't be alive without but that's just me
Heard the donor stopped being Selena's friend when she realized she was using her kidney to continue abusing substances.
So you are actively spreading rumors or do you have proof?
Look, I don't really know squat about Selena or her friend, but I've had two kidney transplants since I was 17, one from my mother and one from a cadaver. This process is often long and extremely emotional. Not all donors and recipients are perfect people. Even if there is a strong relationship between the two, they can grow apart for various reasons. I cannot even imagine having to live my life having random people judge me about what I "owe" my donor. You think most of us don't think about that all time time? There is no "transaction" here, it's a gift.
E news freaks are crawling on the walls in here lol
People love to make something out of nothing lol. Get jobs you losers 🙄😂
Her friend may have given her a kidney- but did she ever cut her a check? That’s the real question
Save your kidneys for actually grateful people guys
As Robin Williams once said (and I'm paraphrasing), "winning a reward is surreal. You just start listing people to thank and at some point your brain yells, 'what? What did you say? you forgot your mother, asshole!'"
Was on an episode of Inside the Actor's Studio
Imagine someone saved your life and then everyone who knows you held it over you for the rest of your life.
I’d be pissed too, maybe I’m petty. At some point it’s like “Did you only want my life to be saved so I could be their servant?”
Am I one of the only ones who thinks it would be weird if everytime she gave a speech she said “and thanks to (xxx) for donating a kidney to me.” Like… that’s weird. And also not everyone makes it a lifelong debt gratitude. If it were me, I’d hate to have done this and have whoever I donated the kidney to forever thank me and buy me gifts and stuff. That makes the dynamic of the friendship weird.
I guess this is an unpopular opinion, but shit happens and people make mistakes and drift apart as friends. My mom is alive today because of a stranger who volunteered to donate bone marrow. Just a complete stranger who put his name down on a list and stepped up when his number was called. I’m not sure why it’s anyone’s business whether these two bitches are strangers, or close, or thanking each other properly in award ceremonies or whatever. Are we supposed to monitor and enforce this friendship for all time just because one donated an organ to the other?
I pray for the sake of the world that Spider-Man and Zendaya last, because some people are hanging by a single parasocial thread.
they also are not longer friends. Because apparently Selena is drinking and abusing said kidney.
I also read that not only did Selena stop being friends with her after that donation, but also continue her risky life, drinking not stop and shove away Francia when she was calling her out on this "second chance".
