I honestly feel like I didn't fully grasp how messed up Rose Quartz was until this meme.
You... have you seen Spinel's grudge story? Rose Quartz is the very definition of naive evil.
I'd say she was certainly naive, but not quite evil. Especially by the time the show starts, she had atoned for most of her past, if imperfectly. Unfortunately we get to watch her character arc in reverse so we see of the worst parts of her persona at the end. Long after she had time to mourn and grow from her earliest mistakes.
I'd say she stopped fitting evil the moment she decided to fight and protect earth. But never outgrew her naivete entirely. And she took too many secrets to her grave unfortunately.

Yes, but there is a big shift between late game Rose and early Rose, and eclipsing those versions of the characters has been difficult. (#Pearl??)
SU fans that paid attention learn to accept that Pink Diamond / Rose Quartz was actually a pretty shitty selfish being and all Steven's (and everyone else's) anger at her is totally justified.

My point is that this particular moment, viewed within the timeline, reads as sweet and sad. Looking at the words themselves over this meme, it's so incredibly toxic and cruel.

A weird Familigization of Steven Universe
In the shower steven universe, the gem species is made using minerals and resources from planets, not being able to reproduce naturally. Rose quartz, the leader of a gem rebellion seeks refuge on earth, where she falls in love with a human man. They decide to have a child, and because rose is a gem, the only way for the child to live is for her to give him (steven) her gem in the process, which effectively kills her, making steven half human, half gem.
This is just Lois from family overlaid onto that scene.
