What does it have to do with aging?
maybe is one of those things like when you are young you dont care about the dirty dishes or where you put your clothes to dry, but when you get older you start to like things like really cool clothing racks or you start do be exited when you found a new cleaning product that works better than what you have.
The sexy thing in the comment may be an exaggeration of this.

In the case of the tiles, if you own a house and like renovating, those tiles look pretty sweet. If you don’t own property yet, you might not give a … darn.
Same thing goes if you use tools a lot and walk into a hardware store. Or you like to cook and see a really nice cookware set, or one of those hand forged Damascus steel chef knives or something.

I believe this one is, most older men have done a home renovation project and after you've done your first you really notice and appreciate the work other people do.
I've put flooring down in a few rooms, I now noticed the floor every place I go. When I see a really well done job, I come home, look at the work I did and feel bad, but my knees and back wont let me fix it.
As you get they get older I’d say people tend to focus more on their surroundings and living conditions in terms of design.
Most of us aren’t exposed to billionaire-level extravagance, so we have to find beauty that is more relatable and accessible
