Racism is definitely still alive, but she is definitely tweaking. No idea how this could ever be interpreted as racism.

jabroniisan

There was a period of time for a couple years, where any interaction that a white person could have with a black woman could be seen as racism.

Go to anti racism rally and stand at the front = Racism

Go to anti racism rally and stand at the back = Racism

Speak at the same time as a black woman = racism

Etc etc

They probably thought that a white woman daring to educate a black woman on something was racist because white women should never tell black women anything otherwise it holds up systems of white supremacy or something

animehimmler

? This is a completely made up scenario you commented lol

jabroniisan

White people stand in front = white people centering themselves = racist

White people stand in back = white people not doing enough = racist

White people speaking at the same time as a black woman being racist happened so many times and is currently happening right now where the Unfuck America tour has been blown up because the creator spoke over a black woman in a live chat and is being labelled as racist

animehimmler

Yeah like I said this is a completely imagined stance on the perception of white racism. Like at worst some clearly non neurotypical POC might say something or accuse something, but it’s nowhere near the actual institutionalized racism POC face.

So acting as if this is some massive struggle for white people is delulu but clearly I think you know that.

jabroniisan

I give you examples of exactly what I said happens, happening RIGHT NOW, and your response is "this is completely imagined" and then move the goalposts onto another pitch entirely to argue with yourself about something I never gave a stance on

You're goofy I don't need to respond again lmfao

animehimmler

Because you’re acting as if some niche event that 98 percent of people have never heard of is an example of virulent racism. The only one goofy here is you. Read a freaking book and realize that if you’re basing your views on an echo chamber your worldview is going to be inherently flawed.

WeAteMummies

I think this post (the reddit post) is rage bait. Whether or not the original post is rage bait is unknowable since the context has been removed. The person saying the show is "game of thrones" could have been making a joke because the show was not actually game of thrones and the person responding could have just been playing into the joke in some way. We have no idea what the post is actually about but people love getting offended by people that are overly offended, so that's the only way they can see it.

I often called called whitey even though I'm pretty tan and mostly Puerto Rican and dress in undershirts and shorts a lot. I get very upset when someone white tries to label me white because I'm a lighter skin Puerto Rican. A lot of leftist people try to measure my Spanish heritage and cultural amount. Totally passes me off. Plus, people get annoyed at me for not wanting to be socialist when my family left Puerto Rico because of socialism and fascism.

Lol what? Puerto Rico is part of the United States, literally the most anti-socialist country on Earth. You would know this if if you're actually from Puerto Rico

Petertbag

I understand it a lot more after I watched this video. If you go through life constantly getting little “innocent” comments mixed with occasional(frequent for some) very really experiences with aggressive racism they experience throughout life. Some folks process it differently and it doesn’t build up, but for many it does.

If you get bit by one mosquito, it’s annoying but not a big deal. If you get bit by 100 mosquitoes every day, that might cause some frustration.

Plus, intersectionality comes in to play with different parts of a person’s life that bring different negative social interactions into their life.

I’m. It an expert, but I try my best to understand.

I definitely see enough racism in the world to justify anyones reaction to it. But in this particular case I'm still not seeing something to react to? Do you see something I'm missing, or are you responding to the greater point?

Petertbag

No, this case was definitely an overshoot, unless there is something I need to learn about. Sometimes when the irritation builds up and you feel like you can’t take anymore, you can lash out erroneously.

Source: I’m trans and I know there are times when dysphoria and depression are going strong. I normally power through or joke about the comments, looks, glares, shouts, and threats I get when out in public. But… every once in a while all of that builds up and I accidentally react to someone harshly who meant me no harm. I try to apologize when I can, but it’s that state of hyper vigilance that people of oppressed groups like BIPOC and LGBTQ+. I’m not a person of color, but I know that in my community, Black trans femmes are most at risk because of intersecting factors in their lives.

Reddit_Soyteen

Maybe they meant that experiencing constant microagressions is driving people crazy and they start see racial dynamics in every interraction? It's like PTSD in a way, you're getting constantly paranoid and overreact to things like firecrackers confusing them with gunshots.

Damn, after typing that I felt sorry for a few women I encountered on Reddit that seemed psychotic over the topic of gender wars. Probably had some tough shit in their lives that made them act that way.

Mindless-Strength422

For a lot of people it isn't just like PTSD. This is c-PTSD/complex PTSD, which comes around from sustaining thousands of small traumas rather than one big traumatic event. This is what happens to people experiencing abusive relationships, bullies, bigotry...they largely present the same as I understand it

Reddit_Soyteen

Yes, maybe I didn't worded it very well. I had CPTSD in mind when I was writing that. I have it myself, so it's easier to empathize with other people's experiences with that. Sometimes it really makes you act irrationally cause you expect bad things to happen only cause they've happened to you in the past.

Is it bad that I understood the joke even though it felt deaf on most here below. The black [Afro American] person asking "what show is this?" can be understood as asking about high society from where they are excluded from, the white [Not sure about the specific race] person say "Games of throne" can be interpreted as saying this is higher echelon of society where people of the other [Black] community are excluded from. Showing elitism and the third person interpreating it in a racist way [Most likely a joke]
