If you are actually looking for a response to your straw-man: it is because there is a different between a zygote in a pregnant woman and sperm/unfertilized eggs.

Depends on the criteria you use. Physically? Certainly. In terms of worth and natural human rights? Pro-lifers would say no, as all humans have inalienable rights.

If I am getting a life-saving organ donation from you (we'll say kidney since youve probably still got 2), and at the last minute you change your mind, have you violated my right to life? Should you be prosecuted?
The argument you make is one that you are allowed to have. I have a different argument, one that disagrees with pro-lifers; the potential life of the fetus does not outweigh the current life of the pregnant person.
And therefore the simplest and most straightforward way to legislate that is it becomes the personal choice of the parties involved and nobody else. Because it is not the government's job to make choices about your body for you. You dont have to donate the kidney, even though I will die. That is your choice, and it is the government's role to protect your right to make your own choices about your body.

This situation is rarely controversial. The problem becomes when the mother's current life is not endangered. Now you are measuring the life of the fetus against something less than the right to life of a person- for 50 years is was an inferred "right to privacy."

Wait. Hold up. There has ONLY been 1 billion people killed in wars in all of human history? That seems like a low amount for over the last 200,000 years. I know our population bombed during the agricultural revolution but seriously only one billion?
While idk if its accurate it's worth noting that the sheer scale of numbers like a billion is often difficult for us to grasp. It is entirely plausible that only one, maybe two billion humans have died to wars throughout recorded history.
It wasn't until WW1 when we industrialized killing that the numbers really started to skyrocket. It takes hundreds of hundreds of millions to reach a single billion after all.
Wars prior to the industrial revolution were fought between levied peasant armies numbering a few tens of thousands of men, equiped with longbows, horses and melee weapons. The citizens of each state were mostly subsistence farmers who were often indifferent to which feudal lord ruled over their land.

The citizens of each state are mostly urbanised relatively educated people who fiercy resist foreign occuptation.
Our ability to destroy has become unbelievably stronger, but our ability to protect and heal has only improved marginally. This is why wars nowadays are so much bloody and destructive than in the past.
