i believe that people should be paid for their work.
that being said, i feel as though i’ve already paid enough to these streaming companies.
i find myself cancelling one and switching to another on a monthly basis.
i’m now at the point where i want to rewatch things. things i feel i’ve already paid for since i only really subscribe for one show at a time.
this has led me to consider just forking out the one time payment for an external hard drive and downloading the shows i’ve already paid to watch.
and i don’t really feel guilty about it either.
these streaming platforms are becoming absurd where you need to have 4 apps and 4 subscriptions just to watch 4 different shows.
not to mention a lot of them are now putting ads into paid subscriptions. they also regularly pull content so you will lose access to a show at any given time.
it’s getting worse than cable was, and that’s saying a lot.
"are becoming"
The quality of the older Star trek series on Paramount+ is apalling considering they own the ip. The ones on Netflix looked better. I know some of the shows can't be remastered to HD but the scaling was so poorly done. There are interacting issues and the compression softened the contrast a little.
I got so fed up I downloaded them.
Good for you.
Most of these live services are pushing a model of constant income. Welcome aboard.
I wouldn't mind so much if the streaming services were offering value for money but most are just stuffed full of in-show ads or upselling ads everywhere you look.
Amazon Prime content being an example where piracy gives you a far superior experience.

I totally agree and I feel the same...
I gave up on streaming services in March of 2024 and set up a Plex server and I'll never go back to these streaming services.
No grief, no ad's, no BS artificial limitations and nothing disappears unless I delete it and it simply works wherever there is internet. The only subscription I have now is a VPN. All the thousands I spent into my NAS, the 4x16TB ironwolf pros, recertified HDDs 8x18TB ironwolf pros and 8x14TB exos HDDs and four DAS units was worth it especially since none of that money went to or will go to streaming companies.
Quit the bullshit, save your reasons, and just do it. No need to tell anyone.
they try to milk us as much as they can, people don't have cd's, they made the streaming so easy, just a little subscription instead of having to download / buy the content, it was so great to switch from having to use a dvd reader with a ton of dvd, to just a platform that just work, but in the end, it's not expensive, the shows are not great, the price rise even if there is way more people paying.
The money you pay into these services never reach the pocket of the people involved in the artistic creation, it goes directly into the wallet of the netflix investors.
If they do reach the actors pockets it is pennies.
Yeah, but it's like a penny over a year to one actor
