I'm currently looking for streming solutions and I'd like to try Streamio. Since now, i've tried Plex installed on a NAS, but Plex is garbage so I gave up, and I also have a Jellyfin server with my own catalog.
Jellyfin is very nice functionnally, even if it's not streaming (or complicated to setup) it is working pretty well, I can use the mobile app on my phone, the electron app or the browser webapp on my laptop, and the AndoidTV app on my TV. It brings me almost everything I need.
BUT, what is not nice, is the subtitle management. And I'm always watching movies with subtitles. They are always out of sync, broken encoding, displayed then disappeared...
So the big question is : does Streamio + Torrentio + RD handles the subtitles perfectly ? I want a Netflix-like experience, but I don't want to pay for their shitty catalaog.

For me the subtitles get configured mostly in the stremio+torrentio setup (I have removed the default subtitles addons that comes with stremio and use the open subtitles pro which most of the times sync the show/movie perfectly)
you need to find subtitles that match your release medium - Bluray/dvd subs for Bluray/dvd sourced files, WebDL subs for WEBDL rips, etc.
SUBDL is good for finding whole season packs, opensubtitles is good for individual files and jellyfin as well as stremio has a plugin for it.
for the formatting/broken subtitles problem, you can set stremio to use MPV as an external player, or use Jellyfin's desktop player, as well as the MPV shim (MPV handles image-based subtitles better imo)

Personally I think that managing subtitles is easier on Jellyfin than Stremio+Torrentio. But I never had problems on Jellyfin either. Bazarr is great for a self hosted solution.
