For example I just downloaded one torrent.
There's 8 seeders. 16 leachers.
My torrent is showing i've seeded 0%.
My internet maxes out at 500 down 50 up.
Is it a case of i will never be selected as the person to download from because my upload speed is so slow?
Take a freeleech torrent that has recently been posted on the site in question, and you'll make a lot of ratio.
are you using port forwarding?
yah my port is forwarded & open. im downloading at max speed but nobody seems to be ever be served my seeding.
only one of my torrents has a 0.60 ratio.
the rest 0.
It's important to only use port forwarding for files you are downloading, not uploading. You need to set your torrent service accordingly. I found this out by having the same problem and this solved it.
If it's not a private tracker, generally you're doing your part if you seed for 24 hours or until reaching a 1:1 ratio, whichever happens first, don't even need to do it if you don't want.
If it's a private tracker that will ban your account for bad ratio, your best option is search for torrents with a lot of Leechers and seed, even if isn't something you want to download, just to keep the good ratio.
ah ok thanks!! yeah the files ive downloaded arent super popular i didnt realise people were downloading files they don't actually care about to help maintain their ratio.
i rarely use torrents & the private tracker im part of (except when i need niche files i cant find anywhere else)
i assumed you needed to have every file be above 1:1 didnt realise you could use other torrents to boost your ratio.
It's not mathematically possible for every user to seed more than 1:1. That's why sites do BP, or freeleech (or 25% leech, 50% leech etc), or allow you to seed for x days or a 1:1 ratio.
Check the rules of the site you're on, and see what minimum ratio/seed time they require. Generally it'll be your overall account ratio that has to be at least 0.6 or whatever.
