piracy, emulation and old games. i’m not spending 80 bucks on a new game it’s not worth it
I think it really depends. If GTA 6 is the same or better quality as GTA 5, I think it would be worth $80 or even $100. However, it is EXTREMELY rare for games to meet that level of quality. In fact, I could count on 1 hand how many games are even close to that in the last 5 years.
Most games are unfinished, poorly optimized and too short of a story to justify even a $60 price tag, let alone $80+.
And before someone uses some bullshit about not being able to afford it, I can easily afford $80 games. It's just over an hour of work for me. But just because I can afford it, doesn't mean it's worth it.
I haven't really been seeing any good games being cracked recently. Still grateful though.
it's 80 and you'll pay it too because of denuvo. i'm just lucky the end of piracy came right when i got old and dont enjoy games as much anymore. i just played my old core games because i cant stand learning new things now. my rotation, dark souls, sekiro, civilization 5, factorio, rimworld, subnautica, long dark, shogun total war 2, gran turismo 4 on ps2 emulator, ocarina of time on emulator.

I was watching a Video on Voodoo FX Gpu's just the other day.
Its actually crazy to think how much more compatible and stable everything is in the computing world these days. Nvidia actually wasted time and money coming up with a Alternative to Direct X that no one chose, called NV-2. Then spent years abandoning it and playing catch up with the rest of the world. When they really DIDNT have to capital to go doing potential ventures like that. But Even though last Voodoo fx Was the ONLY card capable of doing just about everything at the time (seriously if you wanted a 3D processor, than that was specifically a different component entirely to a 2D processor... And you needed an entirely different GPU for the ONE separate task...). a lot of Games and professional programs were only programmed to work with maybe one or two cards on the market. And you were kinda expected to Run upto 4+ pcie cards if you wanted that compatibility...
In a time where we had more than 5 separate GPU manufacturers in the world, many apps only worked with a select few of them. Upgrading was once considered a "risk" and you had to STUDY the box and make sure it was compatible with absolutely everything else in your system... Can you even imagine that today?
Picture Buying a modern gpu and it... NOT working with everything? All at once? actually sounds preposterous. RTX 5000 serious losing PHYS-X support is actually pretty bang on similar to what people had to put up with in the 90's. And that type of "yeah you will lose X and Y support if you UPGRADE WITH THE NEWEST AND BEST" was an actually something everyone had to contemplate when buying anything back then.
But now, to my point; How fucking Good were the games back then!? From everyone? yes there was jank, but the fucking creativity!! just truly unparalleled... You'd get new I.P every other week from your favorite Devs because the executives and publishers weren't as chicken shit scared to do a damn fucking thing beside a live service's back then... But the fact games actually ran like dog-shit back then actually ties into my overall point.
How utterly abysmal - is the state of gaming today? When we have All this power, stability and compatibility at the ready? CPU's faster and more capable then even the most advanced and expensive super computers at the time. Countless coders around the world contributing to making all The hardware API's faster and more wide spread compatible. Its been such a colossal feat over the past 20-30 years its actually so hard to put into words, how it actually is today.
And what do we get? We get Rockstar Taking down every single passionate fan mod that would've come CLOSE to competing with their trash-tier, genuinely insulting "remakes" they did of the trilogy. We Get naughty dog re-releasing the same games(uncharted too) over and over again for 10 years straight now. We get told Bethesda simplifying the fuck out of absolutely every single system and technology they've worked on over the years, to basic "yes or no" choices, THAT END UP RESULTING IN THE FUCKING OUTCOME and is actually good writing, I promise! And pls be grateful! We got blizzard turning into just an absolute fucking greed machine. No passion. No drive. Just passion to sexually assault your female coworkers and rest on your laurels with proven money making ventures with mobile live service apps... We get nintendo actively trying to take down massive chunks of the internet and universally used archives because it doesn't specifically make THEM money.
We get told the Games industry MUST fire all senior devs, replace them with the cheapest possible alternatives and to just perpetually trust the publishers!!! I know devs arent always without fault, but they aren't the ones steering the direction of the industry by any fucking means, what so ever. The actual Talent and brains behind the money making technology, are held hostage to the whims of those that dont understand it, and simply want its profit. We are now 20-30 years down this rabbit hole of a societal direction. You getting you beloved fandom(that made us these millions) isnt important! Making sure Bobby and the rest of us, get these perpetual Bonuses at the end of the year??? thats the only thing you can bet on, bucko

That’s what I’m thinking too, it will definitely be above 100, don’t think it will be above 150, but they’ll probably pull something like “Singleplayer is 100 base, GTA Online is 80, get both together for 150”
