Multiple rounds themselves are a joke. If you can't tell I'm a fit in an hour along with my resume and other documentation then I don't want to work for you with your never ending pile of bs anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong (as someone who has applied for very few jobs), but are multiple rounds not used to narrow down pools of increasingly fit candidates?

You ever watch shows like America's Got Talent? In entertainment it's great because winning that can change someone's life (for better or worse in some cases) but no one is going to be homeless or lose their children because they don't get to be the next big popstar.

Jobs aren't normally something we do for fun. We're told we have to work to contribute to society or we're parasites and leeches. We know we have to work to eat, have a roof over our heads, and provide for our families.

Some people might be excited to be a dancing monkey in the competition for survival but I am absolutely not one of them.

I'm sorry, but reading between the lines is very difficult for me. I'll give my best shot at giving my interpretation of what you wrote. Let me know if I'm way off:

You're solely talking about the work-seeking individuals' experience, and that it's an unreasonable burden to go through multiple 'performances' to find a job.

You're aware of, and consciously not bringing up, the business side benefit of repeatedly sieving candidates.

Some people might be excited to be a dancing monkey in the competition for survival but I am absolutely not one of them.

I second that. That's why I bailed on academia. When I found out the hoops one has to jump through to get funding, I knew I'd jump ship as soon as I could.

You're doing great lol. Yeah I'm ignoring the business benefits. I would love to start my own one day and I would rather value people over profits. I'm sure that's naive of me but it's just the way I am. I'm sure we all have fantasies :)

Thanks for the confirmation :) Naive or not, I've heard of many worse aspirations.

Cheers, and I hope that you'll have a great day!

Multiple rounds are good when done properly. The problem is tech illiterate and or incompetent HR pulling rounds out of their ass. With multiple rounds hiring that focus on specific parts of the same goal I have more steps to realize and let the employer realize if I can do the job or not, also I have more time to discuss things.

Nah, it’s still bs and huge waste of time of candidates. Besides it’s easier to get same job with networking

For me time is a commodity. I'm sure plenty of people see my time as worthless but the same could be said for how I see a lot of products and services as worthless. They have value to the one who holds them though and that's how I feel about my time. The more time I spend dressing up and putting on a show for a potential employer the less time I have to learn a new skill, enjoy a hobby, or spend time with my wife and pets.

Now when this time is reasonably guaranteed to provide income a few hours of that time is a worthy price to pay. I'm not spending 6+ hours on a glorified lottery ticket. Definitely not spending multiple thousands of hours on thousands of applications. To me that's insanity, but that said we live in an insane world it seems.

Lol, it seems like this exact sequence of events happened to someone and they’re very bitter about it.
