Or, as the classic proverb goes: like a murder mystery in which you are both the detective and the murderer.

The way I see it:

OP coding and pushing only on master

the Team starts to push everything in correct feature branches and merge them after QA correctly

Actually pretty apt since the second line system is actually going to a lot of places even if it’s complete fucking chaos and could have been organized a lot better

Exactly my thoughts. Got a project like this ATM where the person who started it wants to control every aspect so it doesn't derail their anal design but we're constantly backed into corners and slowed by him blocking progress until he can decide how to proceed. Meanwhile it only does half the shit the old system does and it's taking forever

The second picture probably isn't actually chaos at all. Most train stations actually have very efficient and smart designed switches. You just need a lot of them if you need to connect like 30 tracks or something. At most trainstations it's actually organised in the most efficient way possible. But sometimes the simplest solution is still complex.

That's when a good lead dev is needed, to strictly guide and enforce the development standards.

This could also be captioned "My code right after I wrote it" "My code when I try to understand it 12 months later"

Sometimes when we have a difficult feature where we have to squeeze a ton of code in a short time, we'll just start pushing on the same branch and hope for the best

It works pretty well, when it doesn't, I've got my coworkers in the same cubicle anyway
