Why are there the conditions? Is there a way when for example "commit" is displayed and not underlined?
From this snippet I would guess that if some piece of text is displayed then underline it. So it would make sence to just underline everything in the array with a loop.

as if he would use a for loop he would hardcode it 7 times
And then gas light every one that it is REQUIRED for an arg and there is no better way to implement it
