U can't stop me
so what happened if u tried?
Invisible wall stops you anyway iirc
^ This
Game name is Grey Skies: A War of the Worlds
With an overall review of mostly negative on Steam, for those curious.
Honestly thought this was remastered Tomb Raider 1
If swimming isn't built into the game, you would probably fall through it like air as I doubt it has a collision box or anything
I dunno. There were games that were ROUGH, and had no swimming elements whatsoever, but there was a very, very janky swim detection where you drown in like three seconds and get warped to shore.
Days Gone was great though.
sly cooper. Ankles got too wet? cue the death animation or warp back if you had a horse shoe
Grand theft auto 3
Grand theft auto vice city
Both of them you die if you fall/jump in water
Assassin's creed 1 was like this and the harbor assassination level is still the bane of my existence
Pokemon Legends Arceus
Nah just fade to black screen with a message:
YOU DIVED
Or the worst of both worlds and it just constantly pushes you out so you lose all control of your character as you bob up and down in random directions lol
nothing
The developer is the God of the Matrix.
the game crashes of course
You can walk on water
I wanna try😱😱
Is that actually real? Its so cool!
Yep, this is from the game Grey skies: A war of the worlds story
The drowning animation was finished though.
Priorities
a sign like this irl would be fire
DO NOT SWIM Toxic water texture pack applied by default. Chlorine=1.
It would be great at confusing 95% of the population.
Mindseye
They should've used this, lol
A first person game: You can't swim..But if you like you can sink to the bottom, have slow motion animations and walk the stairs out of it.
A third person game: You can walk into water (which is never deep). But the camera keeps zooming in to avoid collition and somtimes bonking the surface of the water.
Escalators or moving trains could be a fun game-physics expermient too.
If you jump in, you should die, followed by a game over screen that says:
"There is, however, an animation for drowning."
Huh.... I cant remember the game, but there was one when I was a kid (On N64 maybe? Or PC?) where your character died immediately if you landed in water. I wonder if that was just to avoid having to handle animation in water....
Grand Theft Auto 3?
Tony Hawks Pro Skater comes to my mind, but probably not
GTA vice city?
Early GTAs did that. Back in '04 when San Andreas came out and your character could actually swim, we had our minds blown🤯🤯
"We have to ship it tomorrow, so someone please close the swimming ticket, for god's sake!" ~ Some manager, probably.
What "cost cutting" does to a project.
Sensible scoping
So did you swim? I’m curious
Thats just going to make me want to swim even harder!
Make the water concrete.
All I did was touch the water why did I desync
Did i heard the four wall breaking ?
"in case of implosion, look directly at implosion" apparently the portal 2 play testers were missing the cool animation.
Me when something doesn’t work…. “Just add help text, the user will understand”/s
when you add a comment to an obvious piece of code
New world lol or red dead redemption 1 just going knee deep in water will being up a insta death screen, no drowning.
Game ?
commitmsg: fixed swim animation
Honesty broke the entire backend.
Started raining character starts swimming…. Fuck
commit -m “removed the F-king rain.. let players swim”
Since they are honest, it would be either "fixed issue with lack of swimming animation" or "workaround for swimming animation"
Either way they can close the bug ticket
Wontfix
My programme has a fatal exception? "Fixed issue causing early exit"
The next line would be “by killing the player if y_axis <= -0.1”
z_axis
Axis is rotated because gravity was causing bugs, thereby was disabled and replaced with a wind force acting on the y axis
Way too specific, where do you work?
This sounds exactly like the sort of hacky deadline driven fixes you see in production sometimes
It depends on which engine you’re using. Also the code might do the calculation in the rendering space, which means z axis is for depth.
It just a joke though.
commitmsg: added kraken in swimming pools
